I think the "Hybrid Theory" idea is a little lame. Too corny. Eh, my opinion.

Corny? How so? (Sorry, I'm a little drunk right now and I can't think properly). I think that continuing the storyline of StarCraft: Brood War is a good idea, since Blizzard isn't going to start StarCraft 2 for a long time.

Hybrid Theory is a Linkin Park Album... I personally like linkin park, but i dont think you should name your map after them >.>

Oh, and I think it's good your continuing the SC storyline... but Duran taking over the universe?... can you think of, atleast, a better way to say it?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2006-08-06 at 19:51:35
how about after Durans first success he plans to mvoe to other planets and over time succesfully controls all the planets in a certain galaxy then slowly moves to other galaxys and by then controls the universrve and then dies by his son haha

Lol. No.

Lol. Yeah, there are better ways of putting it; but let's save time and get straight to the point.

Maybe change the word "universe" to "galaxy," ... or backyard.

Yes, of course I have already thought about it.

I wouldn't make them move faster, but make them move slower. Attack speed can be easily changed, I never said anything about minerals for kills, and I already know how to detect HP.

I meant taking away minerals, not adding them, (i.e. your ammo system). What I meant to say is that you should use an EUD condition to take 6 mins from a rine every time it shoots, not everytime you get a kill.

And how are you detecting HP, are you using virtual HP?

And I know you can slow a unit, but how will you speed them up, or are you going to?

I'm still figuring out some EUD conditions, but I will probably make it so that it takes away minerals per shot.

To detect HP, I was first thinking about using an EUD condition, but using virtual HP would probably be easier.

I'm not going to try to speed up units, but only to slow them down; there's no way to speed them up unless I set their default speed lower than normal.

What? I thought EUDs got scrambled with the new patch... blink.gif

Rofl go backyard!!!

Ok, so I'm probably going to have to switch HP to virtual, just to make the HP detection a lot simpler.

Here's a great method for virtual HP; have observers over the player's heads, these observers have shared vision with the enemy, and the enemy is unallied. These observers would also be one-hit-kill. To detect HP, just see how many observers each player has left. Also, set the HP of the unit to show relative to how many observers they have.

It's a good idea, but the only problem is some of the units can attack only ground. The only possible solutions left are to have a burrowed unit follow the character (which will slow it down, so it's not a good choice) or to have the unit have low hp, like 100 or 250, and as long as your life count is higher than one, it'll keep respawning, based on the heroes max HP (this is what I will most likely do for this map and for DotA).

about the hero respawning, it wouldn't feel or look good. hmm... I'll think about it.

They would respawn in the exact same location.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Laser_Dude on 2006-08-13 at 21:41:54
You would still have to re-select, and re-hotkey, and all that stuff, just for one shot!

I just realized, the reason you wanted to detect health was to change heart rate, and make characters move slower for higher health, well, they can help each other out. The more health you have, the more lings you have, and thus the slower you walk. After the last zergling is dead, Your character would no longer be invincible, and could be killed in one hit. You could also add a system to change the invincible character's health depending on the lings left.

Sounds good; if only you could make burrowed units follow without slowing it down . . .

We'll you can just don't have it instantly follow you, so basically
it'll be like
Counter-Strike Source, The Hit Box Lag haha
just make it follow when
it brings 0 to that location lol
