Hm...
I haven't really made any discoveries that weren't discovered before my discovery of them.
But I do have a question. Just curious, who was the first person to find out about never-finished zerg buildings?
Oh, and about Null Terrain allowing ground units to walk on water?

Sorry Tux I think your statement as your map fishing game is wrong. KckKrytonite made a fishing map WAY before that that uses webs as nets and arbiters as boats... It was called Fishing Game [1.5] or something like that. Kck I believe said unfortunately, it could NOT be updated since he accidentally protected it and didn't have an original copy tongue.gif

Thought it is true your map must have been more publicized. I like your maps anyway tux, it because they are unique and don't try to do what 99% of the maps of bnet do... CONFORM. Innovation is the greatest gift, yet a rarity.

I get one!

First map with players on the SAME force as cpus, I think.

uh it was removed from the maps showcase forums so I'll post it...

Revelade neutral comps can be on the same force as CPUs and im sure that has been done alot. Although im sure thats not what your talking about.

Tux, you will proboly be fine for quite a while using one post for all the stuff. (look at how much is in the mapmaking tricks and help archive). Also if you want i can delete that are not related, or do not have a discovery in it.

PS. I doubled posted because the second one is just the list Tux uses.

No, no, and a big NO.

I am saying players on the same force as CPU. Players which are HUMAN which have FLESH and BRAINS and eat PIE. I hope you are HUMAN bolt, not a *shudders* neutral comp. mellow.gif

Opps that was a typo, I ment to say neutral computers can be on the same force as humans. (I had to do that long ago so comp medics would heal human players men)

    Discoveries/Inventions:
      - The connection between the Extra box/Unit's name/Unit's wireframe
      - The units name has to be overlapped/colored for the extra box to change the units wireframe.
      - Screw around with all that stuff if you really are interested, I did that such a long time ago I forget exactly how.

Anyway I'll add em to the first post later tomorrow (still busy with family activities), but before I add mine, anyone know what the first use of D-web/D-swarm for targetting was? Otherwise I'll go ahead and claim it (woohoo!).

Well Nozomu said KckKryptonites fishing map. (i think he made that before i started mapmaking.) aka Its old

Anyways I'm not sure of the date of Kck's fishing map that but I'm sure the concept map that TheHonorKnight made beat you.

It uses the distruption web as a selector as well. It is also the first map to use what we now call the "grid system" I downloaded it 1-8-2002 so its pretty damn old lol.

TheHonorKnight did make some impressive maps i must say! Who created Worms in the end? It was him as well, because that had some nifty features!

Discoveries/Inventions:
Starcraft Tetris - Using limited units to create the effect and randomising hte choice of unit, done about 2000 before anything else and really using looping effects to the full, not a single wait trigger included, though no Hyper Trigger...Yet it showed how to work with counters.

.scx]Fishing Game[/b]- First known implemention of using disruption webs for targetting and affecting things in the map.

I always thought that Padorath's Return by Lockdown720 was the first map to use Dark Swarms as an active unit... It was finished in early 2000 I think.

Also, wasn't the first horror/mood map The Thing 1.13 by MutilatedPuppet?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by StealthyDeath on 2004-08-08 at 20:33:21
What about map protection? I think it was either ShadowFlare or GoldenUrg who created map protection.

Also, the grid system was invented, though I forget by who...

First map with randomized damage? Maybe someone can prove me wrong... Also uses lurkers as the actual damage receivers...

Moogle has a map where I think it's the first to use burrowed units as the damage receivers...

Now that you say it, Padorath's Return RPG was probably the first map with that. The final version was released April 12, 2000. It was made a while before then. I'd have to say sometime in 1999.

Whew. Ok I did a quick run over the thread and added all the new ones (minus my own, as I still need to add the rest from my other maps). If I missed/goofed on anything let me know.

I don't know if my BattleField:Europe map has an invention in it or not i know the battlefield concept was in campaign virgina but was it ever used like how i have it set up? I'll attach it and you can look at it and decide.

Campaign Western Theatre was a better one, although it was a bit buggy on 3v3 games, it used an interesting points system, unlike CV it didn't use things to count just did it in hiding.

But there is nothing not seen before, just units being moved around and that was seen in a really old RP RPG.

I discovered the Infested Terran suicide bug. In this bug, an Infested Terran commits suicide without attacking anything. Select the attack button. Tell it to attack to a location. It will move to the location, ignoring enemies, as soon as it reaches the location, it will use Suicide on the ground. It does that even with no enemies.

T.s.u.k.a.s.a you can :censored:ing burn in Hell for being such a stupid censored.gif :censored:er. That's like saying "I discovered that marines attack stuff in melee." God you dip censored.gif . Disconvering a unit's AI functions isn't a :censored:ing discovery. People figured that out when they first played the god damn game and used an Infested Terran. It's useful for killing invisible or burrowed units.
