yeah, hash has that covered
but tidal you will always be next best connection person guy ;D
Is magic system going be same as ur other map? or going be better. Because i think needs abit of work =/ You can always use other boards for gil. Like uh. Custom, Kills, Razing, Buildings and stuff.
wow ppl are obsessed with ff arnt they?
No, Final Fantasy just has good series and lots ppl love to play it. Squaresoft made a winner ^_^
Well work has been slow on the map lately because i have been working many extra hours at work. Ive been too tired to do much of anything lately but Im piecing together work on it here and there. Theres not much terrain left to do on the first map anyways. Unfortunately we are using all the leaderboard/resource counter options up with our weapon/armor, levelup, and Gil systems, making you able to find weapons and armors in dungeons. We will have a limit system to take care of our 'special attacks' needs, therefore the magic system is going to be actual unit spells instead of mostly direct damage attacks. The PHS system is experiencing some problems because of the way the weapon/armor system is... Anyways...
For the PHS system, I have a plan.
There will be checkpoints laid out around the map where you can switch characters within the checkpoint area. When you switch, you will receive the same amounts of HP % and MP %, according to your current level. The downfall will be that if they have different upgrades, you will have to build them up, but the new characters won't be so horrible that you'll never be able to level them up, everything will run smoothly.
Update:
For the Materia/Summon system, we were thinking about having a beacon for every spell. And once you either buy the Materia or find it, there will be a sieged tank placed onto the beacon and to cast the spell you must unsiege the tank.
We don't wanna do the DropShip system because we need pretty much all the ground units for enemies/bosses.
If any of you have a better way of casting spells using MP thats quick and easy, feel free to give suggestions
Well, you should put the players' Start Locations in the center of their spellcasting area. That way if they want to cast a spell they can just press F4 and their view will immediately center on their Start Location.

Yep, already got that thought out
With Materia and stuff how many spells//summons u got down? How many of limit breaks you going use?

Well for the first map, there are no summons yet. The other maps will have them.
As for materia there will be:
- Restore
- Bio
- Cover
- Bolt
- Ice
- Fire
For Limit Breaks, I want to try to get 2 limit breaks per character in this map. In the real FF7, after you use your first limit break 8 times, you get a better one, so I'm thinking about doing that. But if we run dry on units to use then there will only be 1 limit break per character for this map.
Ah k sounds like you got all planned out. ^_^ is going cost 250 eng cast materia's again?

When you cast materia, itll take MP away according to what materia you used.
Example: Lets say Fire costs 6 MP, when you cast it, itll take away 6 MP (gas) and then itll spawn the Fire Materia in the battle area with 250 Energy. You can only use it once that way. So if you cast it again itll remove the one in the current battle and replace with one thats full of energy and itll just repeat the process.
That's alot better then what it was in ur other map
no offence, but there are too many FF maps out there.
I must agree with illusion

Maybe so, but FF7 is a wonderful game, and these maps will be my final work with FF7 or any FF map, so I'm planning to go out with a bang.

Yeah there are like FF Madness and other crap but this is going to be cool and profeissnal
WEll on the East side there arent THAT many
Yeah, but Killer is actually a good map-maker from what I've seen. It sure as hell looks like he can make an actual good FF map. More power to him. Besides, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
The map rocks. I love the Wav. sounds. I mostly love that Boss song. It rocks.!
Unnn i have 1 question will there be music to make a player feel like there playing ff7 and will it be to big in mb or kb to play on B.Net

You mean constant looping music? If so, then no... But there will be little wav files here and there plus the battling music for when you run into battles...
As for file size, we are aiming for no larger than 1 MB. If we have to trim out some wavs to meet this requirement we will.
But there will be plenty of sounds in the game that will definitely get you in the mood of FF7.
The terrain needs work. I didn't read much but are you going to actually have the turn based battle system? I'd say make the map single player... but whatever. It just better not be like any other FF map out there.
Oh yea and I don't think you need to use 'units' for level ups or anything... just use triggers for moves and just about everything.

I didn't do the terrain, Hashmalum did... But what exactly is wrong with it? It looks great to me, just wait till you see other areas.
As for the battle system, it's turned based. You walk around in open space and it'll randomly trigger a battle. No running into enemies then going to the battle area.
Single Player? Meh, that would be too easy... I like to challenge myself so I'm going with a 3-Player teamwork based RPG. Each person gets taken to their own battle areas to level up and such, but all boss fights are fought together and each person gets one char equaling 3 chars together at once. But there will be an option if you play it one player that you can control 3 chars at once and your 2 alternative ones can be switched. Players 2/3 will be able to switch characters at certain locations to use other heroes characteristics and traits.
And I can assure you DK, this will not be like any other FF Map you've ever played.
Alright good. The terrain using "buildings" is kinda plain... you need some sprites to make it not just look like Starcraft buildings. Well that other guy does anyway. Why doesn't he post here?
