Staredit Network -> UMS Production -> FF7 World: Part 1
Report, edit, etc...Posted by KiLLeR2001 on 2004-08-08 at 18:01:28
As some of you may not know, I created the FF7 Whole Game v1.2, and most recently my Final Fantasy VII which plays much like the FF3 RPG.

But this time I plan to achieve somthing greater with FF7. This time it'll be the complete game over a span of 5 maps or so... This project is of course extremely huge, but here are some of the features the first map will contain.

- Limit Breaks, everytime you get a kill your limit break meter will slowly rise... When it hits max capacity you will be given the option to use your limit break.

- Materia, some heroes come equipped with it, but you can buy it or find it around in treasure chests. So far there will be: Bolt, Fire, Ice, Cover, Bio

- Random Battles, a complete random battle system, according to the area you're in it will randomize various switches setting off different enemy encounters and the amount of time it takes for you to hit a random battle.

- Control, one of the things I hate about some RPGs, is the fact that p1 controls everyone as a party unit. This gives other players little to do and it becomes rather boring. So to counter this problem, everyone moves around by themselves. Normal battles are faught alone, but boss fights will be together. Heroes will share items, but not materia. Once you discover new charcters p2 or p3 will be able to switch who they want to use at any time. p1 will always remain Cloud though.

- Storyline, the map will include key storyline plots and even some flash back mini cut scenes to get a better understanding of what is going on with the story as it unfolds. Part 1 of this map is just the Midgar part alone. Part 2 will most likely begin leaving Midgar and heading out onto the world map.

This is a huge project which is why I have a good friend (hashmalum) helping me with Terrain. He's awesome at it and is a perfectionist (and he knows about FF7 just as much as me). Terrain is not really my thing, I'm a sucker for the triggers and unit stats.

I think I covered most of it, although if you have any questions or comments please leave them here... I'm thinking this map might be complete come X-Mas time, I'm not sure just yet.

They will be distributed one at a time, and you'll just have to go around looking for the other parts wink.gif

But keep in mind, the timeframe between maps will be at least 3 months, giving it time to be distributed...

Hey whats up

Anyways heres some more info:

- I might possibly make it 1-3 players, so any amount will be able to play the game. Of course things will change. If its a 1 player map, you'll have 3 in your party instead of each human player using one hero.

- Game over, the main way to get a game over is if all 3 party members have died. There will be other instances where you could lose the game if you do not act quick enough.

- Leveling up, pretty basic... When you level up you gain more HP, get a tad bit of weapons and armor upgrades.

- Enemies, there will be a variety of enemies throughout the map and each one of them will contain their own unique Exp, and Gil amounts. I'm not using the Starcraft Kills Score values, I will be making my own from stratch.

- Summons, as of right now I can't think of anyway to incorperate summons so that there is a way to limit their usage. If I can figure out a way, you can bet there will be summons in this.

- Boss Battles, each boss will be unique and some will require you to actually think instead of all out attacking. Example: Some bosses might have little minions that you have to kill before you can even hurt the main boss. Boss battles will require teamwork in order to achieve victory.

hmm yay at least there no problem of getting at least 3 people in the map before you can play cus you need cloud, barret, and aeris or w/e her name was I forget.
Now we can play 1 player yay lol. Boss fights are fun.

Well more then three people but im sure 1 player can have 2 heroes each. Cloud, Tifa, Aeris, Yuffie, Vincent, Nanaki (Red XIII), Barret, Cid & Cait Sith. ^_^ good luck with map sounds great.

On the first map, theres only Cloud, Barret, Tifa, Aeris, and Red XIII. As you go along you will uncover these heroes and p2/p3 will have the ability to switch to whom they like at certain points in the game. If you play single player, you're alternative 2 players can be switched accordingly.

Also I wanna make something clear, this is a team project that consists of Hashmalum and myself. We both basically have equal parts, his strongest is the nice terrain you see in the above pics, mine is the triggers. So I don't want to act as if I'm getting all the attention...

Well then i guess we can say good job Killer & Hashmalum ^_^. Hope map works out for ya looking forward to the map.

Looks nice and sounds like you got it all planned out.

Make sure that each Map is almost able to stand alone, and just the storyline stops, therefore everyone can have fun on each map, and if they feel like it move onto the next one.

But as others have said looks nice. I would include a feature where you can decide to continue if someone leaves, or still play with 2 of you, or even 1. That way it doesn't matter how many are in the game.

Exactly, each map will stand alone, so that you don't have to be obligated to play all the other maps. But the maps will most likely end at a point of the story that will have you eager with anticipation to play the next map, or so that is my goal.

Not a bad idea Coko, I will definitely take it into consideration.

What is so great about the terrain? Decent attention to details but overall not the sexiest terrain.

This is the first time i've read this thread but, it seems that the way you countered your "players have little to do while red moves" problem is the same as fenix'01's Arcadia RPG. I'll post that map in the DLDB soon.

What's your point?

It was our decision to have it like that so that Player 1 would not have so much control over everyone. Whether it's in other maps or not, that is irrelevant...
