Iraq is more stable then the beforehand U.S/Iraq war era. This is more of civil war era. USLoyalistandUSTroops Vs Iraq Rebels and alot of renegade attackers within. Total chaos, but it will be stabilized soon.

I watched a documentary in Front Line in PBS. I learned that Iraq was more peaceful and calm before. When America came in, they were all cheering. The next few days, they started to loot the government building and they still cheered. Then after few months, they started to attack American soldiers and blow up cars.

I seriously doubt the region will be stabilized soon. Like him or not, you must realize that Saddam Hussein did a good job at keeping the minorities in check. An obscene number of Iraqi citizens are dying every day now that we are in Iraq, and our intervention certainly did nothing to help the death rate.

Why would Bush fight Iraq mainly for oil? There are many other countries we could have asked nicely for oil...Now Bush has us stuck in Iraq for who knows how long.

I hope part of the reason we fought was for oil. You say it like it's a bad thing.

A predominatly non muslim and free nation makes the Muslims mad and minority Muslim sects arent going to be peaceful with eachother if they have to listen to a non-muslim leader. Some of them probably see us as coming for oil and I bet some republicasns had hopes for oil though that is not the main reason. If we wanted oil we should have invaded Iran because there more tyranical than Iraq was and have more oil and have eluded us to get bigger weapons. Iraq meets alot of these qualifications, but Iran is worse I think having faulty intellegence was only a small excuse for the war.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Lithium on 2006-11-13 at 07:39:54
Iraq is considered to be one of the largest oil reserves in the world that US could invade. Iran, US did not have good reason to invade. The reason why US doesnt invade other nations with the main reason as Oil would make other nations see as a peace disruptive behavior of a nation; thus criminal nation.

Your oil prices went down because of the war dumbtards. Why do you think the US is trying to redevelope the country? To have a effective government that sides with the US and supports US with oil

And Zero. You are highly uninformed. the U.S. doesn't have the highest earns per citizens. US = 46,000$ while Swiss = 75,000$
( estimated amount )

mockdead, also on my statement. State which is no. Back your opinions. I don't believe your statement called "Uh.... No?"

If you've got some sayings saying that American soldiers are dying and stuff, America already established a government in Iraq thats on their side.
A puppet, and maybe a colony? It's way more stable than it was IN THE WAR ERA OF IRAQ.

How is a Civil War more stable then a Dictatorship? Yeah the dictator is out of there and is not killing anymore innocent people, but a Civil War is far worse because of the hundreds upon thousands of individuals that have to be thrown into a conflict that they do not wish to partake in.

Yes, America established a government inside Iraq but it is heavily unstable. Unstable because the country is now thrown into termoil and Civil War.

"It's way more stable than it was IN THE WAR ERA OF IRAQ."

Um, excuse me? Isn't it STILL in "the war era of Iraq" because there is a Civil War breaking loose there? I believe so. It has been in a "war era" since the American Totalitarian Dictator George W. Bush invaded it, and will continue to still be in the "war era" even after Americans have pulled out.

We still have as much of a war declared on Iraq right now as we ever have. This current period of time is pretty much as destabilized as it has been in the Iraq region for a long time.

...we are the richest nation per citizen and we have soo much open space we have to travel alot to get from one spot to another. My mom has to travel 40 minutes before she can get to work every day and 40 minutes back. Every time I want to go to walmart or any real shopping centers its 30 minutes there and 30 minutes back, and now I am going to be able to drive because i just got my permit.

Americans travel so much because they are retarded, unlike europeans they build wherever the land is cheapest and their development is completely unplanned. The reason your mother drives 40 minutes to work is because you live in some suburb built out of particle board on cheap land in the middle of nowhere to save money. American cities have incredibly diffuse populations because of the tendency of citizens to overvalue the cost of a house and shrug off the fact that they are wasting two hours a day driving from that house to the city. The housing areas are built far apart so mass transit such as light rail or buses are ineffectual and the areas developed for housing are much too far from necessities for people to walk or use bicycles. The dependence of americans on oil is very much a factor of their inability to think about the barest implications of their actions. Thus the roads get more clogged, the air gets more polluted.

The iraq that the united states declared war on no longer exists. The people fighting now were not the ones armed and ready to oppose the americans when the war started. These are people who have taken up arms because of the insane handling of the PR situation in iraq, and the inability of the united states to inspire any confidence in these people that the democracy that was being built could adequately represent them.

thats why telecommuting exists.

Did you know that civil wars in middle east are caused between religious differences? Of course, American government broke the wall that stood between them. Sunni and Shiites are killing eachother. And in Lebanon, Christian, Islam, Jews, and other religious parties fight. Yes. Theres Christians in Lebanon.

Most arabs don't hate us. Mostly the extremists are those that do, and we all know that extremists are VERY loud.

So you're saying Americans are retarded because they can't afford to live where they work? I think you truly do not know the situation in the United States and talk about it as if you know everything, which you obviously do not. People, in all parts of the United States, can walk to where they need to buy necessities or go to the nearest corner store or supermarket.

As much as I disagree with the occupation of Iraq, I have to disagree with you here. It is more the resilience of the religious leaders to adopt to a new regime than the inability of United States propaganda.

I am american. I live in the suburbs outside Saint Louis and I know absolutely first hand the arrogance and laziness of americans. In cities like Chicago, Saint Louis, Columbus, and all over California, people are opting for longer and longer commutes because they want the cheapest land possible. In the suburbs I live in you cannot walk to a supermarket, and neither can the majority of the people in the area. Instead they must drive downtown, and even when they are downtown they have to continue to use their car to get around to the places they need.

This phenomenon, known as Urban Sprawl has resulted in the amount of land taken up by houses increasing by 50% during a period in which population only grew by 0.5%: one half of a percent! Meanwhile the cities themselves lose out on the income from taxes of commuters and become more and more run down, crime increases, infrastructure becomes run down as well. Roads become incredibly clogged, as here a pair of bridges serves all of east saint louis and the illinois metro area.

The story is the same in Chicago where sprawling "industrial" areas have also taken up large areas of land, while actually creating no jobs.

In Columbus, Ohio, the city size has increased rapidly, while population has actually decreased!

This waste of land translates to a waste of gas, time and productivity as well.

True, but then again not all people like living in a 1-2 bedroom apartment. Also more people would be increasing their wealth to be able to buy those lands even though they are "cheap".

How did this "bush admits the war was for oil" turn out to be a problem within longer commutes? As far as I know, you can request for telecommuting atleast once a week
