Dreams have always been fascinating to me and I've read a lot of articles about dreams. One topic about dreams that is particularly fascinating to me is lucid dreaming. You can find some information about lucid dreaming here if you don't know what it is. I have had three lucid dreams in my life, all within the past six months, I believe. My question is, who else experiences this and what level of control do you have in these dreams?
I've had different levels of control in these dreams. My control has increased little by little in each dream.
The first one I had I realized half-way through the dream that I was dreaming, but I couldn't really affect what was going on, I just knew I was dreaming, which I can best describe as being part of a movie that you're watching. This was a pretty happy dream, I ended up going out with this girl that I had a crush on for a while, I'm a nerd.
In the second lucid dream I knew I was dreaming, and I could affect things in a regular life kind of way. I tried to fly, but failed. The dream also went downhill when I was in a bar and some guy started attacking me lol. When this began to happen I became frightened and tried to make myself wake up, which I didn't succeed at.
In the latest dream I was able to control what I did as well as what some other people did. I ended up having sex with the hottest girl in my school, pretty awesome stuff.
I'm hoping that in the next lucid dream I'll be able to do supernatural things such as fly. Any thoughts on this?
I would like to say that nothing in this post actually seems, unique or special to me, yes i have had 'lucid dreams' however at the looks of it, so has quite a few people. I will now share my most memorable and weird concepts that i have.
When i was a child, i had lost my gameboy cable and had been searching for months on end, i couldn't find it anyywhere i looked. One night in my dream i found it in a red box that was in my cupboard. The next day upon awakening i went and checked if it was there, and as you have most likely guessed, it was there. Now this may just of been a dream of me remembering where i put it, or a dream of me finding it, i don't know but either way it wasn't there when i had been checking before.
Even younger then that i had a nightmare, which most of you will probably get a kick out of, but in this nightmare i was laying in my bed, and then little smurf like characters were attacking me, tying me down, throwing pies at me, and basically neglecting me, the dream felt so amazingly real, that i could feel myself turning in my bed as i could see myself turning in my dream, then the following morning i was in serious disbelief that it was actually just a dream and extremly traumatized.
de ja vu, as most of you may know is when you dream, or imagine something happening, and then later on in your life, those exact events happen. However mine seem to have a twist, whenever i dream this stuff, something bad will always happen e.g me dying, me getting dumped by my girlfriend or something else unpleasant to me. It may be several months or even years before the actual de ja vu occurs, one of my latest most disturbing de ja vu was my girlfriend dumping me, and i had this dream before i even met her. Now the problem is it never happens, after a long line of events the problem that occured in the dream, never actually occurs. I was talking about this the otherday with a friend of mine and he said it's not de ja vu because not everything matches up. However i question that because i can remember almost every detail, who im talking to, where we was and i sometimes don't even hear their voices but i recognize the lip movements so i can tell it was that exact momment of my dream.
I've also experienced sleepwalking, it's quite weird really -- i went to sleep in my bed, woke up halfway through the night downstairs on my couch, i turned to my mom and said -- what am i doing down here? and she replied
"you came down here and i asked you why you was awake and all you could say was what" on other occasions i've woken up on the opposite side of my bed, or on my top bunk of my bed.
Now im not saying this is weird or special, however all i know is it happens way too often to me and i can control it relatively well to the extent that; yes, in a dream i have been able to fly, i have been able to control exactly what goes on, feel what happens in real life, i can wake myself up when i want to and i have found a nice way to know when i need something in real life for example; to go toilet, get food or drink. The worst part about all this for me, is that when you have dreams that become so realistic that you can control it and feel it, when you have a nightmare, it seems and feels so much realer, so before you say something like "oh i want more control over my dreams" know that when something like a dream becomes so realistic, the nightmares also become realistic.
