Well Is A Extreamly Easy Target For A Crusie Missle

A war machine is completely plausible. The only problem is that, like just about everything else, it will have a weakness.

Examples in the Starcraft universe include:

Terran Battlecruiser and Protoss Carrier: Vulnerable to Scourges. The latter is also vulnerable to EMPs.
Protoss Archon: ESPECIALLY vulnerable to an EMP.
Protoss Dark Archon: Its most powerful attack (well, it's not really an attack, but a spell) also drains its shields. Like its light counterpart, it's also susceptible to an EMP.
Zerg Ultralisk: Powerless against air attacks.
Terran Siege Tank: High cooldown, can't move in Siege Mode, vulnerable to swarms.
Protoss Reaver: Slow and has low HP.
Zerg Guardian: Relatively low HP, vulnerable to air.
Zerg Devourer: EXTREMELY high cooldown, vulnerable to ground attacks.

There's also some other stuff in sci-fi as well, like in Star Wars:

AT-AT: Has vulnerable limbs. Also vulnerable to attacks from below.
Death Star: The exposed thermal exhaust port. 'Nuff said. tongue.gif
Star Destroyer/Super Star Destroyer: The bridge is relatively exposed (watch the scene in Return of the Jedi where a wayward A-wing takes down a Super Star Destroyer by crashing into its bridge).
Trade Federation Droid Control Ship: Sparse defenses and low shielding in critical areas (like the reactor).
AT-TE: Has several weak spots where a missile could easily penetrate and blow the whole thing up.

Tanks:
C&C: Generals idea - use lasers to destroy missiles before the missiles can hit

these lasers have already been made if you ppl would have read my post angry.gif anyways they also have some cool ideas on stargate.

uhhhhh in one episode daniel learns how to make a defence satelite system in his dream... it was cool... *stares at huge explosions and cities being destroyed*

thankyou mianmian for reading my post and not skimming it like the rest of you angry.gif

Speaking of which:

Goa'uld mothership: Nothing in the way of a full-frontal assault (unless you've got a Tollan ion cannon or the weaponry of the Ancients). However, there's sabotage, if you're into that. Just plant the naquadah-enhanced nuke and hope you get out in time before the Jaffa kill you. tongue.gif
Replicators: Just get out a shotgun and start blasting.

If you want to take out a war machine, sabotage is always a good option.

P.S.- It was Jack, not Daniel, who learned how to make the defense system in his dream. At least that's what I've heard.

no the harseis told daniel when he touched his head and put him in a coma jack; tried to stop him but daniel went all psycho and destroyed moscow because russia was planning to attack.
.......
i just realized how much the russians and the americans hate each other in that show haha

ancient weaponry is overkill for anything. but hell just modify your body structure so it produces wraith cells and you'd be unkillable (except to maybe 2 full clips of antitank rounds from a P90)

Against a single Goa'uld mothership or a relatively small amount of Replicators, yes, ancient weaponry is overkill. But, against an entire Goa'uld fleet, several battalions of Jaffa, a ton of Replicators, et cetera, I don't think it would be overkill. And, wouldn't the genetic engineering required to make your body make Wraith cells be just as likely to KILL you?

P.S.- You misspelled Harseisis.

If you haven't watched Stargate Atlantis, the Wraith are a race of humanlike creatures with regenerative abilities. One of the scientists (I think it was Beckett) said that the Wraith don't possess certain proteins in their cells, which contributes to their ability to regenerate. That's your answer to what Wraith cells are. I could be wrong, however.

I also know how far off-topic we're going, so let's get back to talking about war machines!

wait no ive got it!!! hes right about the wraith cells too tongue.gif ok heres the plan. we make a giant beasty out of wraith cells; it consumes corpses to make up for energy consumption, and we can pump it full of adrenalin to make it faster.

As long as it meets the criteria of "war machine," yes, that's a great plan. But where are you gonna get enough corpses to meet its daily food requirements (asides from the corpses of the people it kills)? Yep, it's a war machine, all right. Big and powerful, but has a weakness, albeit a negligible one.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by ShadowBrood on 2004-08-22 at 21:49:23
fine how about this. its energy comes from........ the sun! like superman! closedeyes.gif pwned right there and technically it becomes machine if we introduce neuro-chips into its brain. if we can override its normal instincts and use the neuro chips then its technically being run by a machine and it is one.... confused.gif that made no sense to me either

A heavy tank designed to Destory. Really huge. about 50 meters across. and 100 Meters high. Heavy armored and Heavy Armed. That has Terminal Version, Night-Vision, daytime vision, Search Lights, Thats my kind of War Machine. I just got an idea. Heres my War Machine Picture!

Wasn't the government coming up with a laser to put into planes that would distort a missle's path if it were launched at a plane to protect it from people like the one in my avatar?

Bleh...

A big war machine, I don't know why you would make it look like a person or have it agile. Wouldn't you make it like a big ass cube with 20 foot thick titanium walls and a 10 foot thick lead wall? Then have a little hole open up where a big gun/missle launcher comes out and shoots? Then you could have a big ass city. Transportation is another story for something that would weigh like 10,000,000 tons.

That's my idea for a war machine.

There's one problem. IT'S EXTREMELY VULNERABLE TO SABOTAGE!!! If an enemy agent could infiltrate it and tinker with one of the missiles (I'm assuming nuclear or at the very least big high-explosive), it's adios to your war machine. Then there's the power plant (something has to power something that huge); if it's disabled, then it's a sitting duck. If it's a nuclear reactor, one could disable the cooling system and make it overload, eventually destroying the war machine.

Quick insert: another great of example would be the "the biggest tank that never was".

TSoldier that looks almost just like one of those robots in Terminator, you see them when it shows some of the future wars. And as proved in that movie they were extremely vulnerable to sabatoge.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mune'R0x on 2004-08-23 at 05:37:18
Everything is extremely vulnerable to sabotage. So you gotta keep tight security. I'm sure they wouldn't just let anyone in there. It's not like tanks now days get sabotaged from people that sneak inside, drive it around, shoot things, then pull some wires without anything noticing before he does that.

Plus, this isn't the biggest tank that never was, this is a big ass metal killing machine that will eat your first born children and kill your uncles or something along those lines. This is a greater thing, but whatever. One of these wouldn't ever be real.

ok just got another idea. EVERYONE HERE READ SNOWCRASH. ok now that u read it. use something like rat things. convert some big honkin animal into a thermo nuclear powered big honkin animal. the power supply allows it to move at high speed, while its movement at high speed gives it great strength, low visibility, extreme censored.gif ing agility. and the speed makes wind move across it cooling the power core down using similar technology as carbourators. closedeyes.gif masterpiece of work

No not everything is vulnerabe to sabatoge. Its all about how you build the machine in the first place. Like dont put sensitive or vital equitment where it can be reached other than by near dissasembling the whole thing.

Besides I used the wrong word back there. What I meant was sabatobe during battle. On a suicide misson someone could easily run up and place a mine or grenade under the treds.

Big weapons period have lost their usefullness. Back in WW2 was when they were unstopable, for one because there was no real airborne threat. A huge machine nowdays would just get taken out by airattack. Thats only assuming the machine doesnt have any ground to air missle defense.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by ShadowBrood on 2004-08-24 at 04:07:21
hmmm youve got a good point. thats why rat things are good. they got a dumb name but u can make em out of any 4 legged mammal. just read snowcrash its a great book anyways. and it talks about em. exactly y military weapons producers should try to make em. they use thermal nuclear reactions for energy. when it stops reacting tho we've got a problem.

Here's one. A "sun-blocker" satellite system that has uber-invulnerable shields and blocks all the rays of the sun. Or, somehow create miniature black holes (wait a sec....) that only say, destroy a country! What beats a black hole? NothinG!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by ShadowBrood on 2004-08-26 at 01:36:16
hey if it makes a black hole some war machine that is wed be super censored.gif ed. even whoever made it would be. i mean dude read black star (i think thats what its called) or frozen star or something like like. it a book TOTALLY about black holes. for example 1 blackhole a foot long maybe could devour the earth quite quickly. AND after eating the whole earth it would grow about 1 cm. so, so much for a war machine if it kills you too smile.gif

Yes. Building a war machine like that is very possible. As technology improves, the weapons get bigger and more powerful. Anti-matter has already been discovered and created in small amounts in Sweden. One gram has the power of a 20 kiloton bomb. If it comes in contact with mattter it instantly explodes. If a mech waas powered by this stuff, no one would dare destroy it because of the blast from the anti-matter. War machines are very possible. Nearly everything is possible.
