I think it should be user voted. Each user can award either 1 mineral with a little button on each post, and this only works once. To not award any minerals, just don't touch it.

Thats a good idea, but people may give minerals to their friends. I say have a limit on how many you can give to people per day.

Yoshi, I think this system sounds a little better.
Each user can only gain a max of 40 minerals per day (5 posts) from posting.

Mineral restrictions seems fine. Will prevent blablabla etc...

No that's horrible, then how will some people excel over others? Everyone will just get the maximum, and then you'd have to lower the prices on stuff, since you could only make 40 a day max.

That'd seriously mess up some of the site games. I think post length with "compliment minerals" from other people would be good enough.

SSC? They're long gone frankly. Miker's doing a good job with the RPG, so maybe it'll spark back to life. Miker needs a little bit more dynamic content, and an RPG should do it.

My two Cents:
Ok from now one were going to suspend all of Andy's posting rights and force him to read every word in a particular section making sure you go to the site at least 5 times a day.
Congratulations on becoming a mod . . . . [/sarcasim]

Seriously now what kind of stupid idea is that? Do you know anyone that will do something like that without being paid? Why would you expect some one to want too?

And would everyone shut up about age. I’m going to tell you a very important life lecture.
Your age doesn't not fully reflect your intelligence, It drives me nuts when people insult others based on there age. I don't go around insulting everyone 17 years old just because I’m 20, in fact I accept the fact that many of them are smarter than I. Yet here and on battle.net I constantly see people that are about 16 insulting 13 year olds based on age, as if they have superior intellect because there 3 years older.

PS. Andy I typed this reply in MS Word for spell check, I also read over what I wrote at least twice.

Mp)3 just turned 13 and yet he's most likely smarter then some 40 year old people who play Starcraft, On battle.net it really isn't age that doese anything, maybe older people get the hang of something easier, but young people will eventually learn more because they sometimes actually try, on a game like Starcraft age doesn't really make a difference in the end... And i don't like that 40 minerals per day idea... Some people keep spamming little sentences and they don't even get a mineral most of the time wink.gif

Lol, the 40 year olds that play SC are really stupid. Most smart 40 year olds don't play video games. pinch.gif

Andy, I'm going to let you go with your ignorance. You're implying all seriousness to a game itself. Where did the Starcraft Campaign editor come from? A game. Don't people rely on games to get away from it all? A forum that helps with mapping is a great idea, and to make it a forum with all seriousness is just down right senseless. Map making is fun, if you don't find it fun - leave. The first step to map making is enjoying. That's hwo you make an emotional map, and a good one.

I know what you mean, Bolt. Why do you think I don't tell people my age? In real life, I'm frequently mistaken for being several years older. I insult people based on maturity level, not age. I'd rather see a smart 10-year old then a 20 year old with the IQ of a doorknob.

Why not go with no mineral restrictions, and could you do a counter based on the number of words? I mean... with the automatic spellcheck you couldn't go

Maybe like 1 mineral / 20 words? And we all know what happens to the people that go <spam> <Select> <Ctrl+C> <Paste>

Hee hee, there's MY 2 cents for teh day!

*Edit* Maybe make a statistics box at the top for each user where it tells you your mineral count and post count among other things? I don't know how many posts I have!

*Edit 2* The money system could be a banking effect? Every time you add stuff (even in edits) you could gain more minerals? Deleting information could take away from your mineral count? Ha ha this is like map making for web pages : )

The reason minerals/armies was invented was probably to lure more people into the website to post since back in the day there was a pitiful amount of topics (10 maybe?). Now I see no reason for this armies and junk because there is enough people already. We should start weeding out the account names that aren't even used and make this place a place where mappers of any skill come and discuss.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Yoshi da Sniper on 2004-09-10 at 21:01:50
It was just there for fun.

People dont come here because of armies/minerals, they mainly come here for mapping. If minerals is all they care about, than thats just sad.

Accounts that aren't logged in after 5 months are deleted already.
