Staredit Network -> Concepts -> Rare Error

No. Stop making weird conjectures. Just because you haven't gotten it before, you assume it's something like a 'scratched CD' or a 'map folder that's too full.'

If you have nothing to contribute, you can stop spamming.

I certainly wouldn't mind.

I've gotten that error at least once. I just deleted all of my doodads, reshaped some of the terrain, and placed some new doodads. That fixed it for me.

SC cd is pretty good, my one once broke in half, and I still got to play it for an hour before SC crashed. lol, it can take a lot of crap.

I've never had that error, but then again I don;t make alot of doodads and small places in my maps.

Ive never seen that happen and i dont see why it would happen...are you sure its the map name?
I think it's called a banmark. Newbkid was complaining about it a few months ago.
and maybe you jammed too much stuff in small spots wink.gif.
I've never seen that problem before though... it looks like a faked pic to me.

It's not faked you dumbass, it's legit. I have gotten it before too. Also, there is NO SUCH THING as a glitch that deletes 99% of your map. I dont know what Torrasque was talking about but he can burn in Hell for his damnable lies! If you have a map that causes that error send it to me and maybe I can figure out why it does it.

The only thing you can do is widen the paths a bit. I would really recommend keeping the ISOM section intact because even SCMDraft 2's ISOM restoration coupled with its isometric terrain placement can totally screw up your terrain. You might just have to ease up a bit on the content and sidequests and stuff.

You have added too many units and Dardood what it's called. The whole map is filled with a type of terrian as well. If you use high Terrian alot then your in for an glitchy ride then. Try making some small areas that are on Low ground.

I'm sure if we cut down on narrow passages, and use some sprites and paint the doodads on the terrain it should stop the error, we will just have to see what works and what doesn't.

Torrasque I don't care if you are a guy or not you are still an idiot. You claim to have done something to your map that caused it to deleted 90% of it.

If you make a copy of your map to test and delete the ISOM section it might not cause the error, I don't know, I can't test my ideas without a map with the error.

Did you not read my previous posts? THE WHOLE DAMN MAP IS ISOM. Also, if you wanna test the error make a 256x256 map, input a lot of narrow passageways and maybe some doodads and have fun.

Killer I don't think you understand what the ISOM section is. It isn't necessary! It's only used in StarEdit. StarCraft however, will check the section to see if it's normal and won't let you play if it isn't. But if the section ISN'T there then StarCraft doesn't have a problem. Really wierd, eh?

ProEdit deletes the ISOM section when you protect your map.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by KiLLeR2001 on 2004-09-12 at 23:56:27
So you mean I have to delete the ISOM part in the .chk file using a Hex Editor?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by SaLaCiouS(U) on 2004-09-12 at 23:57:32
Yes. Make a copy of your map before doing that. You have to use Find to find the ISOM part. Then copy from ISOM down to the next section. It's complicated.. don't do it unless you already know what you're doing. If you send me the map I can do it for you.

If you could tell me the points to start and to stop from, that would be greatly appreciated.

ya ive also come across this error, but mine i had 2 redo the whole map. i think this error kinda depends on how big/much stuff is in the map. now i would appreciate if sum1 tells me that im wrong cuz i dun wanna sound stupid (even tho i am) so i hope i helped, and its happened 2 me multiple times

Killer, make a backup and the remove from the ISOM section down to the TILE section. This information was obtained by looking at the .chk spec sheet over at Campaign Creations.

QUOTE(Mini Moose 2707 @ Sep 10 2004, 01:43 PM)
If you use square terrain (you resave the map over without the ISOM section, which allows isometrical terrain), it might go away because SC will think it is just a bunch of squares. Then again, I've never gotten that error.

I suggest what Moose said. Remove the ISOM section of the map. If that doesn't help, it will at least destroy any current working theories as to why it happens.

Thats impossable, Starcraft doesn't read the Isometric section of a map.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by SaLaCiouS(U) on 2004-09-13 at 16:37:08
It does if the section is there, but it doesn't use it. If the section is missing then it just ignores it.

I tried deleting 'ISOM' to right BEFORE 'TILE', but it still didn't work.

I also tried protecting the map, then trying to test it... But I still got the error.

Anyone got an answer? We filled up some of the passages, and it allowed us to add another section, but now the error has returned, is there way around this? Or are we royally screwed over? I really don't wanna make FF7 World: Part 1a/Part 1b... Especially since there's still such a big chunk of empty terrain yet...

Don't the maps overflow out of your downloads folder if there are too many in there? Or does it make a downloads2 folder? I thought it overflowed, but i'm not sure. As for the error, why would this error even be plugged into SC? what does it do to the game that prevents it from functioning? we are always finding more restrictions aren't we?
