I'll bet some of you have run into this error, but in my years of mapping, I have NEVER once run into this error till now...
It all started when I logged onto bnet and Hashmalum was dishin out some more terrain on our FF7 World map... This is the error:
It seems to occur when theres too many narrow passages that form from 2 pieces of elevated terrain (like structure). It also occurs when you place too many doodads on the map.
It also kicks you off of bnet if you're on.
I saw this when i was makign a maze on a 256x256 map, it really ruined the map because i had to remove 1/4 of the maze before it would work.
I think it does this when there is too much junk for the pathfinding to work around.
Sadly, it's really not as rare as you'd think. Many a mapper has seen his hard work wasted because of this stupid thing. There are lots of theories out there as to how to fix this, but I'm not sure there has been a definitive answer. I had to entirely redo my terrain in my RPG and scrap some of my plans after I ran into this thing. Needless to say, it was a real headache.

I'm not quite sure that doodads have anything to do with it. The narrow passages thing is pretty much a given in the error message
.
Doodads are just more tiles you cant walk on (obstructions)
The only way to fix the error is to do exactly what the message tells you, you have to open you map up a little, and take out tight passages. also You could replace some doodads with just a sprite.
Wow, I've NEVER gotton that error.
Niether have I. I hate that unknown factor in mapping. They really need to fix it, its that factor that you cant really determine untill the error happens, and by then your boned.

I got the error a long time ago, With my map Break Out. I didn't fix it myself but i had it fixed. I belive he just made the path ways wider, like space between cliffs, less corners on the terrain.
Maybe i should do some experimenting to figure it out more exactly. (of coruse i say that about alot of stuff)
If you use square terrain (you resave the map over without the ISOM section, which allows isometrical terrain), it might go away because SC will think it is just a bunch of squares. Then again, I've never gotten that error.
ive never seen that error, so it destroyed parts of ur map kenoli?
I suggest what Moose said. Remove the ISOM section of the map. If that doesn't help, it will at least destroy any current working theories as to why it happens.
Of course it could just be counting the number of at least half "unwalkable" tiles on the map and deciding..
I've never gotten that error before and I've been mapping for several years...
Anyways just do what the message says, eliminate small corridors and stuff.
Square terrain is basicly lots of small corridors if you place lots of different types of tiles next to eahc other.

Actually they do, because after I deleted the terrain that caused the error to occur, I added about 100+ doodads and got the message again. And these are Terrain doodads, not the doodad doors/traps etc.

Uhh... The entire map is ISOM.
ive never seen that but once my friend made a maze map out of 1x1 tiles and there were tons of them and null terrain and it crashed sc
Why do people also drop from the game when there are usually special characters (letters) in the map name?
Ive never seen that happen and i dont see why it would happen...are you sure its the map name?
i have...when i was makin this AWSOME rpg...it got deleted
it was gonna be so awsome to... but, i know how to fix it... if anyone wants to know...ill tell them
tells us how u fixed it, I dont want any of my maps getting deleted especially if i spent a lot of time on it
jeez....you people reply faster than the wind... but anyways the error on mine came from the amount of space in the dl folder of mine...if you have to much information it SUPPOSUDLY says that you need to make it smaller...(mine was about 18 MB) so if that doesent work im emailing msn now...the will tell me
lol i have TONS of maps in my dl folder :\
ok..screw that
i forget...that was th OTHER error, you really just are gonna have to figureout if you illegaly placed a unit in sf and then opened it in x-tra or somethin...but still i saw that once, deleted 99% of the map, and had to redo it
Wow. I've never gotton that error. I usually make small maps.
yea...its really hard to get that error
That is a very wierd error. I'll have to look into it more.
hmm...i wonder...did you scratch your cd?
