I'm ambivalent about banning systems. Usually when you reach the point in a game of banning someone the game is about fuxed anyway, but sometimes if someone's lagging or just all of a sudden starts BSing (or turns afk), it's better to have it than not. Just don't waste too much sweat over making it, though.
I don't want do disapoint you, but, your idea, though I admit a good idea, it wouldn't work. Though the units are in the dropship, they are still concidered at the location, and everyone would be banned.
I thought I already said this, but no...
just set the location to ground only, uncheck the air checkboxes... O_o what were you thinking xtreme?
Also, this idea isn't really great.
The way I see it: If yuo add a bansystem to your map, then don't bother too much with it, yuo don't need to go searching the 'net for ideas such as found as in this thread.
Just think of one on your own that gets the job done, such as being P1 dependant or requiring all but 1 player to work or whatever.
Oh yeah... Forgot about that lol
mind control i like
i agree that having p1 dependant sucks, especially for map revealers and if the skipper guy ain't given to different player.
for banning it can be okey, exept if its given random or if its not a team game
like i once played sunken competition then when i were winning he just friggen banned me
lol thats why you don't put banning in vs maps.
Why would you need a Dropship system for banning? You have better things to use your Dropships and units for. It's not like a spell casting system, where you're actually going to have to use it over 20 times.
why would you want a specail banning system?? just have the regular they have on rp etc... there is no point in having a specail system.....
Beacons take up space, killing units take up space, mind control takes up space, etc etc...It all tkaes up space!
Just have this system,
Player 1: "Player two, you lag leave."
I like the unally ban system as well. When all players unally a certain player, that player gets banned. Simple and effective.
But then again, that only works for certain maps, others it would be useless, because of Ally Status being important, like Diplomacy...

Game with banning systems are funny, because they usually require all of the players to win.
Banning is :censored:ing stupid. Its just another useless thing you can add to a bound.

I disagree, Some people like to
around and help kill other players. With the banning system you can ban his ass. Then you don't need to worry! I hate people who do that. Thats why I always put an banning system in my games.
Why would you have a ban in a diplomacy map? As bolt said earlier: it's a bad idea to have banning options in vs. maps.
Hmm, yeah don't know why that popped up! How about in RP's, useful function, but then again...who gets the right to kick someone?
Well, in Rp's it's almost always a requires 2 or 3 players to agree, which is good.
Shouldn't this be locked or something?

Why? It's a concept.
Anyways, I think that the reaver banning system of Tux's is the best idea. It makes good sense to use it.
A thing that sickens me: In a map, there is a civilian & beacon ban system. And it's only for Player 1. But wait, you notice something. Player 1 has a beacon to ban himself too. K, I honestly didn't read every post in that thread, so if this was already mentioned I'm sorry.
In one of my maps I just did player banning through the diplomacy menu. I find it appropriate for certain kinds of maps only though.

had a brain fart? i do all the time, but i think tuxedo's banning system is effective, then again it has cons also, it could be difficult for a person to do that, uhh....thats all i could think of, it saves space on the map, do templar's idea, or a banning where not only 1 person has all the power, use useless units like a civ, psi emitter, w/e
I dont think its a good banning system. We're all human and we make mistakes. "Whoops" I clicked the wrong unit. GG.
That's kind of a stupid system, you should just do the old fashion way by killing the players.

I was thinking of...
A dropship above a 1x1 square terrain with 1x1 location, ground only.
Player 1 brings atleast 1 zergling, it bans player 2.
Player 2 brings atleast 1 zealot, it bans player 3, etc etc.
Anyone think thats good for a banning system?

Hmmm I Would Think It Would make A Little More Sense If Player 1 Brought 1 Zealot To Location And It banned Player 2 Then Removed The Zealot Lol But If this Was Your Intent Then Umm yea Good Idea .. Only 1 Problem If its Someone other Than U Using The banner You Would have To Put A Number Of Other Sqaures Above The banner With A Zelot Thats Says Player 2 And A Ling Thats Says Player 3 .. SO They Know Which Unit bans Which Player Yea?
lol Okay Thats All Good Idea

Am i missing some kind of key point of information?
How do you drop other peoples units out of your own dropship?
Edit: oh ok i guess i was, i didn't realize you were showing differant units and doing some kind of poorly explained voteing system (I think thats what your saying)
It's still stupid to use a dropship for a banning system. Its not like you need to be able to ban someone on a slit second call. Or even if you did it still takes a moment for them to exit the game after they get there defeat.

Lol Hey Bolt .. u Did Miss Somehting ... What I believe He Was Implying Was That U Drop Your Own Units And That Specific Unit Would ban That Player .. If U Could Drop Other Peoples Units ... u Wouldn't Have To Use Variety .. U Could Just Drop The Same Unit For Each Player
I rather like the use of the Diplomacy menu for it, it saves so much space on the map, and can still be worked perfectly, if say you make sure you have the triggers knowing who can be allied or enemy to who at what time!
Personaly i like the 1 that uses a disabled tank ... when you unally the person it shoots them and banns them ... the dropship system would waste alota unit names...
