Staredit Network -> Concepts -> Banning system with a Dropship.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by nyczdigga on 2004-09-18 at 23:29:45
I was thinking of...

A dropship above a 1x1 square terrain with 1x1 location, ground only.
Player 1 brings atleast 1 zergling, it bans player 2.
Player 2 brings atleast 1 zealot, it bans player 3, etc etc.
Anyone think thats good for a banning system?

It doesnt matter what kind of dropping system it is as long as it works -_-;;

that means theres 4 ways of banning!

1.Banning by killing a unit for a player
2.Banning by bringing a unit to a loaction to ban the player
3.The dropship banning system
4.Creating a Unit

Speaking of bannning have any of you tryed Random Ban i love that stupid/fun game! smile.gif

Hehe yeah that was so bull censored.gif . The unit is junky and always goes to my beacon. mad.gif

ADDITION: Speaking of banning systems.

How bout if currentplayer kills a unit thats restricted and it adds 1 mineral, preserve triggered. If it adds to 5 minerals currentplayer get bans. Or currentplayer kills atleast 5 restricted, currentplayer gets banned.

Am i missing some kind of key point of information?

How do you drop other peoples units out of your own dropship?

Edit: oh ok i guess i was, i didn't realize you were showing differant units and doing some kind of poorly explained voteing system (I think thats what your saying)

It's still stupid to use a dropship for a banning system. Its not like you need to be able to ban someone on a slit second call. Or even if you did it still takes a moment for them to exit the game after they get there defeat.

True, true bolt.. u beat me to it.
Anyways, it isn't a good idea -since it takes up units, and there is no need for having a speedy dropship system for banning.

You guys should play true Ban final its the best gettin banned feels great!

But do any of you have true ban i think i lost it?

killing a unit requires 0 locations, 1 ban trigger for each player. isnt it the best? wink.gif

The easiest way to do it would have a different unit represent each player...

I like the original ways to ban people, it makes the weirder (?) and it looks cooler.. the coolest i had seen still the most simple ban.. u unally the player so ur disabled tank can attack the unit... but the units to be banned where walking in a lil ''coridor'' and when they were at the end.. they were warped back to the start.. i think its in Blue Bound (by raging raptor lolllll) by Mathrix(U) i loved that banner

about the dropship... i think its cool, but u should make more than 1 location.. so u can gives warning (by droping ur unit + uploading it after)..

anyway.. a good banner is a banner that works... and doesnt take much place in ur map..

and since every ban trigger is ez has hell to make.. u dont have to worry about how long it'll take to make the triggers.. its always between 2mins and 5mins lol

Between 2 and 5?
More like from 1 to 4.

This is in concepts, why?
It's nothing new, it's jsut a modification of the Spell System.

HEEEY!
I have a WONDERFUL idea!
It's completely stupid since it's in no way better than any other banning system, but it's a new concept!
You siege the tank next to the unit of the player ytou want banned!

I hope that helps you understand why this dropship system ISNT anything new, or great, or useful.

My Favourite banning system is the one where you own a Dark Archon with Mind Control and so you don't really effect the kill scores either, just the control amounts, and once you own that unit, off it goes.

Used when you have units left over, at least one for all players that can and might be banned.

I dislike all banning systems unless the players vote to ban someone. I think its unfair to glorify the host of the game. Defense maps are really bad with this with level starter units and massively player 1 dependant maps such as all the map revealers being owned by player 1.

It all falls under the same newblike qualities.

Maybe every player has a dropship, when two people drop the unit that represents the player, that player is banned.

Duh, how else would he mean to do it? Besides flying around and dropping your unit on beacons witch is more stupid than the original idea.

Bolt i think he meant that the host has one dropship with a whole bunch of different units in it (for all the different players).

Not all the players have their own dropship.

Oh yeah? then why did he specify two seperate players bringing a unit somewhere. I guess it could be a typo. . . oh well.

I have disabled tanks for each person all in range of each other. I give them 2 hp (or 2000 so other units that attack it can't affect the banning, only there one tank dpending on how it is set up) and make them do 1 damage, or 1001 damage or soemthing. I once had teh time recorded for between their attacks, so it would heal before 1 tank killed it, but if two attacked it, it would die. It made it so 2 people had to agree and had to unally so that people thnk harder about banning.

The banning system that i think works (the one im using in my upcoming defense map) is when i t determins all players in the map and it needs all (but one duh) players to vote to ban. It takes longer but still only like 5 mins (even for a begginer).
Report, edit, etc...Posted by nyczdigga on 2004-09-19 at 20:40:55
Player 1 controls dropship no one else. If the player drops a unit, like a zealot, it bans player 2. I wanted to make it a creative ban system.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Xeno on 2004-09-19 at 20:55:34
I said that each player has a dropship, inside each player's dropship is a unit, one for each player. When two people drop the unit for, let's say Player 2 that player is banned.

Zerg Playing Dead's system was the exact one I used in LoOny D, except with ghosts and shield batteries that recover HP every 2 seconds, such that a single ghost can't kill one before it's hp regenerates.

I think an even better way still would be to use reavers for each player with 1 dmg scarabs, 3 shields (with 1 protoss shield armor), 1 hp (with 0 protoss ground armor), and 3 scarabs for each (with optional refill trigger every minute or two). That way, the shields regenerate faster than the scarabs can inflict damage, and players can't spam their attacks as long as they're limited with scarabs (since it takes more than one attacking player anyway to cause a ban).

As long as the reavers are spaced out (no splashing each other), that might be the best way to do a vote-ban system (least triggers, that is). That or substitute with some slow-firing organic ground unit and medics that heal them before any other one player's attacks can make a kill.

Game with banning systems are funny, because they usually require all of the players to win. biggrin.gif

Banning is :censored:ing stupid. Its just another useless thing you can add to a bound.
