I might go for another OS but if you don't have Windws then you have to go get all special software crap for your comp which sucks. Besides, Windows has never crashed for no reason on me.

It really depends of the user anyway... No need to tell if you instal too much crap (without knowing how it works), it'll crash much more often. Gotta be careful. Mine very rarely freeze now, and we're 4 going on it...

No... gates did make windows. However, most of it was bought from other sources. He bought dos off of a dude for 50k. Imagine how much more he could have got if he would have sold it as licensing. Then he bought this and that from other people... I forget all the details.

People says it sux cuz it does suck at a certain degree. They're not even searching much to improve anything around as much as other OSs.

You just said other os's exist, so how is it a monopoly? By the way, you know that thing microsoft got in trouble for, when they were picking on netscape? That was stupid. Netscape was a dead browser soon as IE came out with with version.... 4? It totally blew netscape away. IE is thee browser because it owns. Firefox, netscape, and a couple others I tried don't even load the pages correctly all the time. Usually they are cut off.
Another thing, if everyone is using their IE, OS, and Word... I bet you can do certain things to interlink them rather than if someone was using OS b with IE... mebbe.
If no one knows about different browsers or what not, it's really the other browsers fault.

Actually, Mac's are used because they are better in the graphics profession because they perform better than pc's, at least, the last I heard.

Linus is for computer "nerds". It's not for nothing the guy set it free, it wasn't bugless at all, and if you want optimal performances, you gotta need to know how to mess with BIOS, system files, etc...
Windows does that for you (which applies to mostly everyone, since most people do NOT have computer knowledge...)

When people think of PCS they think.. ohh so much richer than MACS (because of Microsoft)
But in reality, Microsoft is a software company (besides the xbox) it has no affiliation towards PCs as far as money goes except for sales of its product, microsoft makes almost all its programs for macs too.
However, macs, are owned by one company.. apple.. there is only one mac company, while their are dozens of PC companies (emachines, dell, hewlet packard, ...etc)
What I'm trying to say is, apple computers is not that far off into becoming greater than PCs only if software companies start forseeing that macs have a great future and macs are built with quality while pcs are built for quantity.

I think the pc will dominate always. No one is stupid enough to gamble money on a slim fraction of a percentage of a chance that the MAC will become much bigger even. Therefore the only change that I can foresee is the death of the MAC (wouldn't that be spiffy? Har har, stupid MAC users).

Who equates macs with microsoft? Old senile people? I think everyone knows microsoft is a software company.
And then... every computer (and everything else) is built for quantity. "Blazing fast speeds with your pentium 4 processor!" usually equates to a computer with crappy motherboard that probably can't even fully support the processor and an integrated video card...
But that's why you build your own computers and not buy them from the store ;|.

Um... don't you think linux releases updates as well? Probably betters ones as linux has a software development team of whoever wants to improve it while microsofts development team is determined by the size it's payroll. Think about the whole starcraft editor thing... would we know as much as we do now with only a couple of people trying to figure things out?
You need to know what's up with your bios to optimize any system... it doesn't just apply to linux.
And linux can fix files the users have messed up as well.

Yeah...that error happened to me too. Before it said that...it said a file was missing and WIndows needed to be shut down. It's only happened once to me (thankfully) and I'm pretty sure it's not a virus. I use WIndows XP...and nothing's really wrong with it

you probably turned off scvhost, but you know you can just disable the shutdown, but its not recomended

Me, neither, but I haven't seen a Mac before except in ruins... My computer hardware teacher really hates Macs for some reason... He saw one and next thing you knew, he was tearing it apart with his bare hands and a screwdriver... It was crazY!
