I seriously disagree with him posting the PMs. I mean, if he just took off the contest without posting them, we couldn't do anything anyway. -_-

If it hasen't been suggested, why not give someone a prize from the site. Such as a glowing name, or some minnerals or a name change or whatever you can think of. The map contest shouldn't be cancelled.

And I think that if Isolated just said the contest was over without showing the PMs, some people would cause a big scene about it. Either people would gain some negative attitude against isolated thinking it was completely his doing, or they'd continually ask about what happened. In the end, the PMs would have to surface sooner or later. So why put that much disappointment and confusion to the members of this community?

Anyway, Yoshi DIDN'T entirely trust Idol at all. He told me the main reason the StarEdit email addresses were on there because he wasn't sure if Idol would even live up to his end of the bargain. That was in fact, the main reason I wanted to enter the contest. For the email address.

Isolated still has a bit to learn about being an admin, and im not just talking about PHP skills. But of course thats just my opinion.

Damn I was looking forward to the $ prize, if nothing else. Webspace and attention don't mean much to me, since I can easily get both without too much trouble. But meh, it's not like that's a whole lot of money anyway.

If this is still going I might enter my map, but between A&O and general laziness I doubt it'll win. In that case at least whoever wins can get bragging rights for making a better map than Tux's.

Oh, and 1 more thing. If he does come back with his screen name, he WILL be extra friendly. He'll wait for a while to let it cool off, then he'll slowly start to work his way in. If you don't believe me, he did the same thing to Darvon(MC), and tried to do it to me. Then he screwed us over again, and left darbs kinda shamed. I don't blame darbs at all, he was just too forgiving at the time. And A-ssholes s like Idol, love to prey on the forgiving.

Feelingshorter, did you actually go to BlizzForums to see what our prizes were? We're offering custom user titles and gmail accounts to the winners, which is basically what you're offering here. And BlizzForums has been around much longer than StarEdit.net has so don't assume no one is known there. I think BlizzForums is mainly a good resource for map makers who want help from sympathetic others rather than dealing with chauvenistic personalities in which "I am better than you" is their best response (which is why I hate map making clan rivalries), but that is just me.

Yeah, its true idoL is not gone really. If he said he quit bnet months ago yet he then says he wants to remake [K] and recruit from SEN, he is definately not leaving.

I can judge if need be, I had originally signed up to be one but because idoL never liked me (thanks to me saying he wasn't going to actually sned cash or any prizes), he did't choose me. now im curious as to what was said in PM....not that im trying to blame anyone since ill finnish my map for the contest without the prizes anyways. So tux...any hints as to what you were making? You seem confident that you would win...or confident you would win before idol left SEN that is...hopefuly you dont lose motivation because each day i put at least an hour into my map despite my rigorous schedule.

Alright, so Sala voiced his opinion about idol making a sequel to bolt's map. I believe he had every right to voice his opinion. Certainly, if I made a map and someone decided to make a sequel, I would be pissed.
None the less, now idol goes off posting his stupid ass comments and retarded flaming, and generally being rather immature.

I don't see how idol got in trouble. I didn't take any action against him and as I see it, it doesn't appear anyone else did either. idol didn't ask for me to deal with the problem between him and sala. idol didn't even ask for my opinion. He just said staredit, this, and me. Personally, him telling me to off with no specific reasoning behind it raised an eyebrow.

Now, if bolt would have intervened and said 'Sala, it's okay if he makes HotH2' and Sala kept on posting crap, at that point, I would have had a problem with Sala.


Yes, the map making contest could have done the community some good, even though with some certain bad after effects, I'm sure. However, I don't believe idol's reason FOR the contest was exactly noble (if it was intended to be real). This opinion of mine comes from many different occurances that have built up over time. I mean, would a "generous" man really need to have it proclaimed all over the website? Isn't asking for your own user group a little... too much... perhaps?


Go ahead, take over the contest. Get together with people and get some type of idea of what some good prizes would be. No webserver space however.


You're right, I agree, I do have a lot to learn. I'm learning constantly how to deal with certain types of people and such and such. Like I said, I had this pm for two days and I contemplated how exactly I should bring it up. I chose just posting it because, just like idol said, there is nothing more clear than " you all".

I agree with webspace as a prize. Technically (U) has it's own server [sarcasm]but I need a safer place to host my child pornography.[/sarcasm] As I've already said, E-mail addresses are good too. And minerals are also cool. And something for the winner's profile on SEN. The thing about prizes though, is the only people they encourage to enter the contest are the people who aren't going to win. Most often the only person who is going to win is someone who would have entered the contest anyway even if there were no prizes.

i agree but you have to admit, that prize money actualy got me jump started because it was extremely motivating. Tho ill finnish my map anyways even if it doesnt make deadline since im single handedly making my map which previous maps in SC history like mine had a lot of help from other people.
