i would if they talked back to m, i'd open the garage door, so it's all cold and show them not to talk back to me, they sleep in a t-shirt and shorts there, with the door barely open, freezing cold air coming in and sleeping on concrete, they would never talk back

kids these days are disobediant, they have to learn to respect their elders and not talk back as much, that is probably what max did, max did you talk back to your parents?

there is nothing wrong with spanking. That part of the body is used to sit down so the child will remember the lesson (hopefully) every time he/she stis down while it still hurts. But 10 is a little high of an age. Id stop around 6 unless the kid was a demon.

IMO you should only smack them if they do something wrong and then take away priveliges. If youre not harsh then they will do it again.

Would using the belt be bad? My dad used to use that and no not hitting you ihn the face or back but on the butt.

Akid is someone under 10 years old a child is osmeone under 5 so most of us arent kids unless you act like one.

It's been noted that kids who do not get spanked do better in school, are better in citizenship, and basically are a little better at everything.

If you want to punish your kid, honestly don't spank him, especially when he's a baby. When you're like 1 2 3 4 and 5, you don't understand why you're getting spanked. "I ate a cookie, and now I'm getting spanked." is what we would figure today. As a baby, you'd think seperate thoughts:

"I ate a cookie."
"I'm getting spanked."

A baby wouldn't always associate those two thoughts, so they usually figure "Mommy's a ."

If you're going to punish your kid, let him know why at least, but for punishments, spanking is *not* the way to go.

Heck Yeah, People are too anal about this kinda of stuff. "OMG i can't hit a child" "I'll sue". People and there legal actions.

If the kid did something wrong yeah spanking is alright, i would encourage it. Beating on the other hand is wrong there is a large differance between spanking and beating.

They should get spanked if they did something like hit a kid. Humans learn through pain. In the times of cavemen, kids didn't throw their things a lot. If a kid threw his/her food, he/she went hungry. I encourage spanking but not beating. Spanking is a few slaps on the buttocks. Beating is hitting them hard and repeatedly. Spanking won't scar them either physically or mentally unless you do it way to hard. People need more disciplin. Parents should tell the kid why he/she is getting spanked.

i really don't know if it is right or not to hit a child at any age, i mean sure it might be needed, but i really don't think it is right still. when you can, you should just use words and not fists to punish your child. timeouts, groundings, taking away of privliges and such should all come before hitting a child. i do understand that sometimes martial law maybe needed to get the point across, but it should be used only in EXTREME Cases. all i am saying is that hitting should not be the first thing that comes to your mind when your child is being bad.

Ok, lets suppose for a minute it is not all right for a teacher to beat a student until the student dies, but it is all right for the teacher to beat the student very close to death. Do you still think it is all right for the teacher to beat kids?

To spank someone that has done something wrong is wrong, you should talk to them or get some other punishment instead. Spanking is not good, what if they learn from you and beat up their kids when they grew up?

There is a BIG difference between spanking and beating. Like tsuka said, spanking is a slap on the wrist, or a slight wrench on the arm.

And we do NOT want teachers to BEAT kids, just discipline. Look at catholic schools back like 50 years ago. (Idk if it still occurs) Kids rarely disobeyed because there was actual punishment!
