Lol, that is so true... It'll almost be like natural selection based on fianicial well being.
I agree with this. It sounds from the article it is soem way to repair cell division error by correcting the corrupted genes in peoples DNA. That would take a lot of money to figure out what has to be fixed, then fake strands must be made and injected into the person. Because of the way people age, you'd need a new dose of an updated treatment about every 40 years. Who can pay for all that, it'd be made very expensive.
About overpopualtion, yes old people wouldn't be having kids, but the old wouldn't die. 16 people die every second (about). If that was reduced to two, the population would always be added to, but no subtractions would take place (barely any). That is why population would be an issue.

Anyways, about living to 1000 years, like I said before life would suck. With people living to 1000 years we would have to exapand to a new planet. One of the closest and livible planets (in some aspects) is Mars. However, it takes about 6 months just to go there. Then to come back and get supplies, another 6 months. It would be too long of a journey. Not a very good thing. Anyways our population is ever growing...
Exactly. There is barely any usable oxygen on Mars, and all awter would be in scattered aquifers. You would have tiny tent towns supporting about a quarter million at most. Say you could have about 50 of these (a very optimistic estimate). You get 12.5 million people. That's not much compared to the world population. Expanding to otehr planets would be really really hard. The next closest star is 4 light years away. it took about 30 years to reach the edge of our Solar System, about 6 light hours. Now we could go faster, say twice as fast. So, to reach the next nearest star would take 6x4x365x4 years or hours (I am assuming yeears, I'm too lazy to check). Messages would take 4 years to travel from one planet to another. You can't set up mass colonies if it took 20 generations for a ship to reach a planet if they could live 1000 years. This treatment would kill us all eventually unless we were able to make a very fast starship drive capable of reaching at least 10% the spedd of light. it'd only then take 40 years to reach the nearest star. Even that is a very long time.
