It has to, Blizzard is working with a hexidecimal way of counting in this. 00 to FF or 0 to 255.

Me thinks Yoshi is talking like Smeagle.

EDIT: Ok ok ok ok! What was found with the computers that attack each other, units that are made up of multiple parts also attack each other. I mean ... there is one goliath and its attacking itself. Bottom and top part are combined but enemies. tongue.gif

But what Moose didn't test was carrier. This thing is god awful funny. The carrier doesnt do anything initially, but once you lure the interceptors out with a unit then they go to attack that unit, but instead they start attacking EACH OTHER. Interceptors battling each other in the air. And it never ends. Because the Carrier loads them and resotores shields before they can die.

####ing halairious to watch.

You'll have to change how forced ups work... I think it depends on how much units there are.. well for player19 anyway. I've been exparimenting with p19's weird text displays and it seems as if the ups are random to me.

Well anyway... I was trying something out and it didn't work as I expected it too... I removed the bar at the bottom to reveal the null terrain at the bottom of maps,
and also when you watch a replay and move to the bottom, you can see part of the null terrain.

EDIT: i now want to try something with a stack hack but nobody's on cry.gif

Actually, following would spark people to make Pikmen maps. Though I actually haven't played the game before.

Hmm, there probably may be way to exploit the Moose Zone. Maybe a map that forces people to battle each other through the zone, and having the area "corrupted" by some outside source? Ideas people?

And if triggers effect these players (has anybody tried?) maybe they can be pushed to follow some of the AIs.

Oh, since the Moose Zone messes up the minimap, SC still doesn't crash. Interesting...

It doesn't mess up the minimap... that certain player does. I found the 'NULL'(aka moose zone) terrain, can be built on if it's placed, but since my exploition was at the edge of the map I couldn't build on it... (see first ss).

The second ss was the furthest I went out on the Null terrain(aka moose zone, off the map). And i found that it was concidered to be on that terrain.

EDIT: I also enhanced my minimap to appear larger so I could make units go where they weren't suppose to without removing the bar.

Yea make it go in the moose zone (right click on a building at the very edge), it will be beyond the ground unit invisible barrier, make it stop and it slides back into the normal dimension. If any of you have luck with going off the map, tell me biggrin.gif(that won't work...) lol.

Did more research... up to Player 79. More info on The Moose Zone and Player 19, including screenshots. Crazy, crazy, stuff. Enjoy. I'll upload the P70 map here so people can try it themselves, because some can't get it to work. Beware though, it tends to crash Yoshi and Chu (in multiplayer. worked for Chu by himself), and you may share their fates. tongue.gif

I also have a hunch The Moose Zone might be creatable through resizing. Not confirmed or tested though.

Oh, bloody hell. You know very well I cant open PCX files.

grumble *gets out photoshop cd* pfttt
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathknight on 2004-01-01 at 00:08:00
There are no pcx files in this thread.... YOSHI's DRUNK!

well anyway the players are now getting boring and will be a bit boring for a little while... the color of the circle changes to green around player 125ish

btw there really are no -# players, they repeat the players much like players over 256, but all -# players do are make units invisible in Starforge, and I dunno about other editors.

Oh my/dear God...
It looks pretty interesting, and scary(I have this wierd fear of buggy things I don't understand... \-= )
It's also very good to know!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by SpaceBoy2000 on 2004-01-01 at 09:53:41
Ha! I would assume it would say you cannot build at the edge of the map, but off it? Almost as if Blizzard planned this. Why else would they add in that phrase?

lol the moose zone, all this mapmaker here needs is ONE completely normal but extra to my game and it will amaze the public!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathknight on 2004-01-01 at 10:56:40
let me find a screenshot to show you that you can't really build 'off' the map... but very close to it.

You'll be happy to hear i am going to use these in:
"Star####Up"

It will include all of your names, as well as talking about The Moose Zone and getting the double units to attack each other, tanks can get tanks! Reavers have fun...Also i'll edit them all so that they don't do any damage to anyone. Good old SCMDraft! Should be out soon...

Just some info about Moose Zone (null terrian) thats unrelated to this topic.

For some reason, it still registers air and ground although its not a terrain type.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by chuiu on 2004-01-01 at 15:26:17
On a programming standpoint what I think is happening is the terrain is literally getting "pushed up". So that the bottom is filled in with null terrain, and the terrain that should be on the top of the map is not actually in the map anymore.

Why it creates more room in the minimap is beyond me. Maybe its reading from a standard 128x128 ice map file and trying to make this map like that file.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mini Moose 2707 on 2004-01-01 at 17:34:45
Everything at the top is still where it should be. The map goes from 96x96 to 96x106.

Added info for players up to 100. We hit the big one zero zero. smile.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathknight on 2004-01-01 at 17:41:07
nonono it was 128x128 at first, this is my theory;

1. the player get's placed and nothing happens
2. open in normal staredit, and save it, thus corrupting it
3. it makes the map larger vertically, creating 'null' terrain at the bottom, but it doesn't change the minimap to show that the map is 128x136(i think), so the minimap get's squished

It might actually be that...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mini Moose 2707 on 2004-01-01 at 18:50:47
The map was 96x96 and always was. The 128x128 was an error I made.

Moose can you please zip the map where its all crazy or else its corrupt. biggrin.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by EzDay281 on 2004-01-01 at 20:21:55
This is wierd, amazing, and interesting.
How do you do this, take the map and just place a unit belonging to player #?
Do you place a unit belonging to player # and all below?
Do you make a trigger with player #?
Plz tell me... I wish to know...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mini Moose 2707 on 2004-01-01 at 22:43:07
Just place a unit for the player. For Player 70, you have to ppen in regular StarEdit (or a patched version, in case you have stuff unsupported by the regular StarEdit) and save the map. Map goes corrupt, and then its fun time. :UBEREVIL:

Here is a .zip version of the player 70 map.

Moose, can you make a seperate list for "Useful Players" where they dont crash or corrupt? It'd be a lot eaiser to see which ones pratical happy.gif
