I am not sure which to pick.

If you would age but never die then definitely I would not want eternal life.

But seeing as I won't age...I still don't really know. I might because it will be fun to go crazy and suicide but not die and try to get people to kill you but not get killed.

Also MillenniumArmy, killing yourself is considered a crime so it is best to just make someone kill you so you won't be charged in hell happy.gif.

As I have in discussions like this before I say yes. Just being able to see the human race evolve both physically and socially is exciting enough. There's the knowledge also so many things to learn and an infinite time to do it in. Then there's the rest of the galaxy-universe, in 200-300 years there will be availible spaceships that can leave the solar system for the first time. It would be really great to be one of the first passengers on those ships. I could imagine it 20,000 years from now seeing fantastic new technologies and knowing things unconcievable at present time. simply an amazing thought.

Personally this would be far better IMO than spending eternity in heaven. I wouldnt want to be eternally happy all the time, its the lows and the hard times that make the good ones "good". To be happy all the time would be the dullest existence I can think of.

QUOTE(AqoTrooper @ Jan 13 2005, 12:06 PM)
I see you quoted a story... nice.

But I'm not that kind of an emotional person, if my friends die I'll be sad for 1 day and get myself new friends the next day.
From the beggining everything is so sad because people are sorry for those who died, but everybody dies sometime so why are everybody so sad?
Being sad won't bring that person back.
Being sad won't help anybody.
Being sad will ruin your life.
Being emotional means being sad.
Imo, and you can tell me I'm a cold hearted basterd if that's what you think, you shouldn't care when someone dies.
If someone died - than he died, you have nothing to do about it.
So keep living your happy life and don't let it ruin everything.

No offense Aqo...
You're not cold hearted, but you just havn't experienced that anyone dying right in front of you. He's just an inch away from you, yet you can't save him. Sorrow is not the only thing that comes with death. Dispair comes along, so as is hatred. For an ounce of my life I actually HATED GOD because he wouldn't let me die instead of him. It's not just about being emotional. It's about how useless you are.

you die, you go to either hell or heaven. I'd say NO.
either place in Earth and hell is boring biggrin.gif
oh yea... and what if you got sucked into a black hole and still live? biggrin.gif
and btw... you can't THINK its dull or boring or anything negative emotion
or feel in heaven. you just won't get BORED or UNHAPPY, you will be happy
ALL the time, without boredness, just all the time, happy and no negative emo.
So you wouldn't even notice a thing biggrin.gif

What if your spaceship crashes? You'll spend eternity floating in space in great pain, but never dying.

MilleniumArmy: I will now refer to you as OGAAMA, an ugly acronym for the stupid title you gave yourself to mock you tongue.gif

Yes. Defenitely yes. I mean, I really, really, really want to see StarCraft 2. And its not going to come out in MY lifetime...

More seriously though, yes I would like immortality. It would be fun to see what happens to the human race in the future. It might also be interesting because then you could have enough time to solve almost any problem, no matter how long it would take. Being immortal, you'd have almost infinite knowledge, and I could use that knowledge to help the human race... or conquer it for my own amusement.

After all, if I couldn't be killed, I could conquer the world with a butter knife.

I would make sure SC never dies, hahaha.

Ago, I know what you mean. Some people think I'm psychotic because I am that way. I just don't care for an extended period of time, stuff happens, you can't change it. =\

If I was able to live for a very long time [i]and[i] freely, I would like that, who wouldn't want to live extra long and see the future and play StarCraft forever and stuff like that, biggrin.gif But you would most likely be taken for research by a government. Also, a crapload of people will be very angry with you wanting to know how to live a=for an extended period of time. Life would really suck because of that, and everyone would hate you because of jealousy.

I don't know... If I had immortal life, government research and jealousy would seem like minor inconvienences to me. Governments last for only what, 300-400 years? Compared to your life span (infinite) it's just a minor annoyance. Jealousy would seem even more minor. Once you escape/government falls, just keep a low profile, get plastic surgery, whatever.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2005-01-22 at 14:50:53
But 300 or 400 years is still a long time, even though you will have a lot longer afterward. You might become mentally insane, depending on what effected you. If you could be hurt psychologically or drugs affected you, or you could feel pain, then it would really really suck.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Revelade on 2005-01-22 at 18:14:06
If you had eternal life, nothing would matter. You would not need a house, food, a car, a job, or anything. Basically you would be a rock. Of course you could do things, but think about our lives. Why would we work? Who would win wars?

no because, what if you find love, then you watch them grow older and live in pain and eventually die, then you know for your life, you will never see them again, at least when you die, you can see them again....

You don't really belive in this right?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Wolf on 2005-01-23 at 16:43:55
no because what if somethings happens like you get put in a large metal box and someone throws u into the sea, u will be there forever till someone finds you, and since u can;t die you can't drown, and eventually a lot of people would get tierd of living and get tierd of all this bull$hit going on in the earth, but then again if your imortal then you would be able to fight in the war and help, but then again you could go around killing civilians because nothing could stop you

so imortality has it's pros and its cons huh.gif crazy.gif huh.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by iamacow on 2005-01-23 at 17:25:52
Hard decision. I would hate living forever and seeing loved ones die but with immortality, I could be around the world for everything. I could learn and I could help people all around. No vote from me.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Sipher on 2005-01-23 at 17:48:21
Nah, I like life how it is. If I never died or aged, I wouldnt have many of the same friends. They would all go off and die or something and I would be all alone. But I do belive if you wanted a peaceful nation, get some guy who cant die and BAM. Instand peace. The enemy wont mess with someone who they cant kill. Lol..

Report, edit, etc...Posted by Otaku on 2005-01-26 at 03:23:43
I say yes...although, that's only if like, if you like got your brains splattered all over the ground, would you still live? How the heck would your brain function!? That'd be really weird lol. If you were semi-invincible, like you could turn off pain and crud, but retain enough mortality to kill yourself through conscious action, then that would be awesome. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

If that's your viewpoint on heaven, you dont understand what its about.

I would not vote to take everlasting life, unless its that promised by God (afterlife) in heaven.

There is no time measurement in heaven. It's the ultimate state of Zen, in a way.

immortality is very confusing, it can meen so many things, most of witch knowone will ever understand since knowone has experianced it, we can only imagine and dream. humans are a cretaur that thrives on instant self gratification, a choice "yes" is only made by a fool.
