Wow. Well, hi hi everyone, yet again I have returned. I've spent the last three months

ing around in the military, and came out of it with nearly nothing. I learned a lot, but hear me this, if you're looking to make money, that ain't it.
Anyway, I see that there's a LOT more interest with mac users in mapmaking on this 10 year old game than I had ever thought. I got an email the other day from some guy at TMProductionz.com wanting permission to post starfireedit on his site. There's problems with starfire edit though. One thing that a lot of mac users hate is that you have to run it in classic. As everything else, including this new stupid patch being talked about, it's just an mpq patch. With classic you lose all the nice things apple has given us like the dock, the interface, and let's not forget exposé, which is probably the coolest thing they've come out with yet (only to be matched by the stuff in tiger). On top of that, it runs like crap when you've got a second OS running.
The other problem is in the way I got all the units and buildings organized so that you could easily access them. I did that by changing ownership in units.dat, but this unfortunately has the side effect of keeping them from showing up at all in the players panel and in triggers, so it really kills itself. I'm not sure what I can work out with this, but due to the large interest, I'll probably fix it soon.
The old mac site, Mac Customs Lair, has not died, but simply retreated to
http://customs.no-ip.com. That site, however, only gets one update about every 6 months now. No new tools are being created nor old tools completed. I'll see what tools I can grab from there to put on the mac files section here, since SEN seems to be a much safer place for them right now.
One thing I can say, which is good news, is that I've talked to suicidal insanit, and though the PC version of SCMD2 is basically put on hold due to college, the mac version is being crunched out all on its own. He tells me that there will be a beta test coming in a few weeks, so I can keep you up to date on that. I would like to make my own mapmaking tools for OSX, as well as a mac version of StarDraft, so that we could do everything as good or better than PC users, but I haven't got the time or the programming skills right now. I should have time over the next 6 or 7 months though, and as learning to program would help jump start my college majors, I'll do what I can. No promises though.
Addition- For all 500 or so mac users screwing around here, I suggest picking up "Quicksilver" from
http://www.macupdate.com. It is, hands down, the most useful and shiny program that I've picked up in months.
