It's called Occam's Razor. Please don't tell me you don't know what this is, I won't believe you.

I don't know what occams razor is. If I did why would I say anything about flat earth and intelligent falling?

Now that you have enlightened me I see the error in those theories and how simple it is to disprove them. All those lengthy posts made to argue against those theories were useless when compared to applying occams razor.

Stop encouraging him. He looks like an 8 year old covering his ears and repeating "bla bla bla bla bla" to any rational statement. If that's what you get off to, though, by all means support it.

The only thing rational was what Dr.Shotgun said.

Oh, and I'm an 8 year old who is covering my ears and saying bla bla bla bla to any rational thought only to the untrained eye.

And yes CheeZe does get off to that! He finds long beards very attractive.

You know what? I agree. Ginnungagap is correct. The earth is flat. Everyone please copy and paste this statement:

The earth is flat. Ginnungagap is 100% correct.

Well, if you've had any real debates then you would know that all he's doing is repeating what other people have done. Anyway, I agree with Mrrll. It doesn't even matter if his post had sarcasm in it or not, I still agree. laugh.gif

No. As I said before, you think you're being clever (which you denied in a clear lie), but you're actually being childish.

No, I stated the theory and debated it against other members of SEN to see what they had to say about it. And who are you to tell me what I think?

I'm not going to get into a a joke of a debate with you. It was clear the entire time, but a nice short quote would be what you said afterward:

I'm sure it was perfectly clear the entire time to everyone.

Please, not everyone here is as smart as you. Don't be so full of yourself that you can draw such deep conclusions.

You said this in response to me saying that it is an illusion that it is an illusion that the earth is spherical.

You are asking me to prove this? You're the one challenging that the earth is flat, so why don't YOU prove that it is an illusion that the earth is spherical, and that the earth is flat.

Flame? ...
That's the beauty of it. To me, it doesn't matter how they use the information; the fact that I have passed the information is more than enough for me to feel that I have done well in life.
and you will cease remembering! Only your existant form will have "happiness" but in the end, you will remember nothing, since non-existance lacks remembering.

QUOTE
Like I said, I have a reason to exist. However, if I didn't have a reason, then there isn't a point to exist.
Ok so you see my reasoning.. but since I just sorta crept away without finishing this squabble, I left you in the dark on how it all comes together.*whistles*

QUOTE
I don't understand how it's a paradox.
A philosophical paradox is a type of paradox that is true, but does not want to be believed. Like for example, the argument that free will doesn't exist is a philosophical paradox.
QUOTE
According to your analogy of this paradox, it won't only be one if I were to have no reason to live and still commit to my life. However, I have given you a reason. You have not shown me why it is bad except by saying that it could be worthless in the end. This is not an arguement. This is telling me that I might be wrong. Like "OMG", I already know that. Likewise, I'm telling you that you might also be wrong. The difference is, I've accepted that fact, you haven't.
Alright, then I will show you exactly how it fails.

Cheeze, do you remember back in the days of proving evolution? I believe you do remember the argument "Given an infinite amount of years, evolution WILL have happened.. even if it's 1 in a million chance of happening." Ah.. those were the days. wink.gif

But NOW, oh yes, I get to use that very argument against you! Is "the death of all mankind" a possibility? Of course! Now, I have proved already that an infinte past cannot exist. So then, how can I use this argument? By using the future!

As we know, the future is constantly being made, turning into the present, and sinking into the past. That means that sooner or later ANY possibility will happen! As we keep extending the years foreward, chance starts weighing upon the possibilities of all mankind being wiped out.. and sooner or later.. IT MUST HAPPEN! You have been trapped in your own law!

If my coarseness of words confused you, let me put it in simple form:

1) Evolutionists have constantly stated "Since we have infinite past behind us, evolution would happen even if it has a 1/10000000 chance of occuring."

2) If you care you look up the topics I've made, you will see I disproved that infinity can exist in the tangible world. Therefore, the statement above has been busted.

3) BUT, the logic from it still retains its value. I pit your own logic against you: "Since we have a neverending future in front of us, the destruction of humanity must happen even if it has a 1/10000000 chance of occuring."

4) Therefore, it's not that your works "could" be worthless; they WILL.... be worthless. Because, in the end, the ceasing existance of humanity WILL OCCUR!

5) In conclusion, ANYTHING you do for yourself OR for others WILL... in the end.. be meaningless! No one will remember! No one will even HAVE THE ABILITY TO REMEMBER!

So then, you were saying?

QUOTE
It seems you now have also fallen into the holes of creating excuses. You know, ad hocs.
You seem to forget that everything, in essence, is an ad hoc. We just say it's not an ad hoc because it's "pragmatic".

QUOTE
If I were you, I would get out of them now and actually think about what you're doing. Think logically. Not spiritually.
I've been thinking spiritually? blink.gif Where'd you get that from? I'm just stating that those who believe in Christianity (bring others to God or w/e) have some reason to "keep existing", even though it's a false one since we're assuming there's nothing after life.

QUOTE
and you will cease remembering! Only your existant form will have "happiness" but in the end, you will remember nothing, since non-existance lacks remembering.

It doesn't matter what I remember (or lack of). My goal in life is to complete what I feel is best for mankind.

You respond to this by the reasoning of "anything that can happen will happen". While true, humanity will eventually be destroyed, that doesn't mean I should stop doing what I'm doing right now. I live for the future. So I will use all of my power to prevent the destruction of mankind with my power. Once my power is gone, I only hope others will try.

So, while the destruction of mankind is inevitable, that doesn't mean we shouldn't stop trying. That's like saying simply because I'm going to forget everything anyway, there's no point trying to learn Algebra. But we do. For a reason. To help ourselves.

QUOTE
A philosophical paradox is a type of paradox that is true, but does not want to be believed. Like for example, the argument that free will doesn't exist is a philosophical paradox.

If so, I suffer from no such thing. I accept fate. But I that doesn't mean I can't put up a fight.

QUOTE
I'll just use your own against you then!

Well, nice try. But you failed. My reasoning was something that already happened, so it's slightly different. However, I do agree that "anything that can happen, will happen." That doesn't mean it has to happen soon.

QUOTE
I'm just stating that those who believe in Christianity (bring others to God or w/e) have some reason to "keep existing", even though it's a false one since we're assuming there's nothing after life.

So you're saying, by bringing in a supernatural, that justifies their purpose but it doesn't justify mine? Simply because they get "eternal life" doesn't mean I can't enjoy my reward!
