If you are on windows, and you installed it go to Start>Program Files>Accessories>System Tools>Character Map
It has all the symbols you need
But if something like it was built into SEN (or just at least a few symbols) that would be nice.
A 'salary'! Some sort of monthly or weekly summin' that gives you a certain amount of minerals based on a variable or set of variables.
Hey, it's a suggestion ~shrugs~
I still have my pre-karma reputation formula that I think should be used. Any system we have has to be based on multiple factors.
http://www.staredit.net/index.php?showtopic=10854&hl=formula
To improve it should maybe be
f [(2a + b/10 + (d-5)/2 * (3e/4)] [(-1/20) (c-6)^2 + 2]
Where
a - days as a member of SEN
b - post count
c - posts per day
d - member rating from 1 to 10
e - #of members who rated the person
f - admin rating of member starting at 1.000 and bounded from 0.500 to 1.200
I dare you to find a member where the systme would provide an innacurate rating. Well it may be a bit unfair for ppl like me, who were "reborn" on SEN. I disappeared and now im on nearly every day. Still, doesn't really matter.
dtbk... solve the equation for me, you, and... beer
I'm not exactly sure what "question" your equation "anwsers"...
If a member gives me a karma point, I have 1 karma point. Does your equation somehow make strict karma points more meaningful or something?
And like I said, # of days on sen shouldn't be factored into some equation.
Portal News: I was thinking 5 topics (by default?)...
Perhaps use "teasers" to only allow up to a certain number of characters in the post, you'll have to click on the link to read the full article if it's big.
Member stat's are down. I disabled it a long time ago.

Hey I just thought of something that I really miss from old v3 times. You should bring back the post customizer where you can have it automatically make you post in the font and color of your choice. (without taking the time to add BBCodes, though I might do that just for effect)
[right][snapback]220108[/snapback][/right]
I mentioned that. I said that you should be able to have a custom color, font (center, underlined, bold, ect.)
You see though, I imagine people will be annoying with that shit. Centered text just doesn't flow and such. Default font / color might be a possibility, but I'd hate to imagine idiots gonig around setting their default font to the largest size, bold, italics etc like you know some noobs would.
Make it hidden in settings so only the people who bother to look there can do it. Therefor decreasing the rainbow forum.
EDIT:
Well, i think making a default size is dumb.
I think there should be an upper default size limit, and if u have large size, no bold, or underline. You should be able to choose only nderline or bold or italics in defaults, no combos.
ps. need a black/dark skin for SENv5
I've developed a new system for the forums. What do you think?
*Edit* I know it isn't nearly as pretty as SEN right now, but that was just to show you how subforums might be set up. And Mike/IP, if you can keep this current skin, I would. The black and green is so sexy.

SEN age does have something to do with it, you need a name for yourself here to be truly respected; AND it can't be spammed or bought.
Ill change it to 1.4a.
Calculating...:
(f [(1.4a + b/10 + (d-5)/2 * (3e/4)] [(-1/20) (c-6)[sup]2[/sup] + 2]

See, it works over time!Well I just thought of this, you should make a drop down menu in the forums so that people could quickly see if a topic is located in the archives of that forum. Sometimes people don't know what the name of the topic they're looking for is, and sometimes people are too lazy to go back and check each page for the topic they're looking for.
Just a thought.
DTBC, your system is flawed, what about the people who have posted about 3 times but have been here for a year? They dont deserve anything.
And being an admin/mod/DLDB Manager/etc, should get you some points if you did do this system.
How about those who's accounts were deleted way back when?
Slyence, me, lot's more.
Math doesn't solve everything.

It isn't flawed. Plug in some numbers for some little-know person who posted three times 1 year ago and never came back. They'll have a fairly low score, but not less than 100 - which is what they deserve. Their ppd would be like 0.02 so that would give a multiplier of 0.3, and their posts and meber rating are tiny.
Being an admin/mod would probabally mean your admin rating is higher, and that affects your score.
Rexy> It would be your fault for not sticking around Ideas for BBC thingies...
make a [quotebox] thing for thoes long quotes that are like 5 pages long.
make a [textarea] or [textbox] thing for posting longer text.
The reason for these, why should everything be in a codebox if its too long and not a code?
Make it so IE users and lower cannot access the website
So when IE and lower try access SEN v5, It gives them a page that sais, Our site does not support you browser or something like that.

That is like saying "Lets not let blacks into our site for no reason at all". only with browsers... and not the color of your skin...
If IE can view the site currently, it will still work in SEN5.0.
.. Browserist.
Yes, But IE and lower makes the site way to glitchy, Or buggy. Most people reporting bugs are IE users.
I live with it. And just because we don't see it properly doesn't mean we should not be able to view it period.

It isn't. You can change your browser. You can't change whether you're black. They said that the main differnce is that IE doesn't support transparencies. Other than that, it should be exactly the same.
IE6 also doesn't support CSS2 standards, I'm not yet sure how this will effect them because I didn't build the IE css file yet...
I'm sure it's going to make something ugly as hell... For the form elements (input, textarea, etc) I used 'attribute selectors' to give radio buttons a different css class than other input tags.
input,textarea {border: 1px solid #008200;background-color: #000;font-size: 11px;vertical-align: middle;padding: 3px;}
input[type="submit"] {border: 1px solid lightgreen;background-color: #000; vertical-align:top;padding:3px;}
input[type="checkbox"], input[type="radio"] {padding:0px; margin:0px;vertical-align:top;}
However, IE7 should be in beta testing soon?
All I saw was that one blog, I know nothing of IE7.
Another suggestion..I was just thinking, after conversion, what about smilies with different names? So if ":D" became ":-D" all the posts would have silly little ":D" all over them. Not to mention ones like ":notangel:" or ":0_o:".
Get what I'm saying? It's a bit confusing.

That isn't the point. The point is that hes saying only let
one browser in.
