I can remove them. If you're walking through a jungle, when you look up the side of a monutain, do you just see plain, emtpy rocks? Nope. You see shrubbery, trees and vines. I am trying to capture the ambiance of a jungle. Which is why I may not use a background music. I may just use ambietic noises. As in, when you are near a beach, you'll hear the ocean. When you are passing a waterfall, you're going to hear a waterfall. Things like that.

ok, but u dont need all these sprites on like a cliff, then it looks bad and like yur trying to cover up blockiness, u can use tree doodads, that would be much better...
motleys right...

Quote: "thats a good idea, cause usually in real life when your walking around you don't just suddenly hear music playing from the middle of no where. "

no but thats the point of having a ROLE player game taking the role of another life to such that will suck you into the game and making you feel what the character feels. would people feel what you felt by just watching your life? most the time people NEED help and guidance along the way to "FEEL" certain feelings.. thats where backround music comes in. to guide people to FEEL these certain feelings at these CERTAIN times. i believe you need backround music. ambienent noises are also good. just chose your situations wisely - try using them on the areas that are more needed. if your going to be in a jungle for 2 hours.. i don't plan on only hearing the sound of a waterfall and birds to keep me going as overtime that looping will just frustrate bore and kill it. a good rpg in-fact, in life itself. to make ANYTHING interesting you must have a set plot that "KEEPS moving". never stop. never let the slack go, and go from place to place, without too much time inbetween. before amazement and precidability of a certain place can settle in your emotions are changed thru another scene. you must keep it moving. music helps emotions to certain people to keep it. you must have music!!!

Sorry for the long while for an update.

I was camping for the weekend. bleh.gif

Anyway, not much has been done since Thursday night. So, there isn't much that has been finished. I apologize for the longer wait for the demo, but I underestimated the amount of triggers I will need for the Turn Based Battle. So, I may just have to leave that out of the demo while I get all of the bugs out. If you think that is a good idea, please let me know. Then I'll be able to release a demo sooner. If not, and you would like to wait for the Turn Based battle's, let me know about that. Then I will releas the demo later with the TB system.

As for the music/ambiatic noises. I'll wait and see if I find something. If I do not find a piece of music that I think fits the map, then I will be using ambiatic noises. If I find a song, then there will be a theme song.

All in all, not much has been done in the last 3-4 days.

Over and out.

Updates:

• Fixed a few string errors
• Finished Shops
• Changed bits of the terrain
• Working the many bugs out of the engine.

Sorry for the lack of updates. I have been very busy with life. Kind of a tough time for me. Anyways, I am only really able to work on the map a few hours a week due to school and a new job. So, the demo is going to surely be released much later than expected. Again, sorry for the lack of attention.

I could care less about any other RPG's being made. That's not why this topic becamse inactive. If that is the reason, then so be it. There is more important things that are going on right now in my life.

Whew... I am back from inactivity.

I would like to apologize for the inactiveness, but all of that will change in a few days, which I am very thankful for. This is going to be an official update.

Updates:

• Had to change around a lot of the terrain due to confilctions with the story.
• Shops have become buggy, I need to debug them all.
• TBC and RTS systems are still being contemplated.
• Stamina System is being finished.
• Something has happened to the centering locations. Need fixing.
• May redo some of the console because of its difficulty in use.

Again, I am back in the game!

Which is one of the reason's why I would love to finish this. Although their is still a HUGE problem with the map. There is no ending. Why? Because the character's Artemis and Litania are myself and my old girlfriend. I do not know how we will end up so, that means, I do not know how the map will end. Which may mean a sequel. But, I will [i]have to[i/], finish this map first.

I'm back baby! Time to get back to work!

Well if that's the case, you can never go wrong with the cliche "we're going to leave each other, and hope to see each once again soon, most likely in a sequel."

@BoyScout, well, thanks for the kind words. AS far as I know, the map won't be released for quite awhile. Mainly because I do not have a lot of time to work on it at once. Pretty much an hour during the week and a few hours on the weekend.

First priority forsaken would to bring up your grades. If you spend alot of time at your job, I would confront your boss about taking 30minutes at the end to doing your homework because you aren't doing to well. Don't say you will do it for the rest of your time there, but ask if you could do it maybe once on monday or wednesday. If you approach him seriously enough, it will be no problem. I would also consider doing all of your homework before you touch starcraft. School should never be a problem when making maps, it takes away the inosence in the map.

Just a few ideas... I don't mean to put more pressure on you, but school is more important then starcraft, and ensuring a victorious life after your days on starcraft will always be a good way to look back on your life when your older, and say I was prepared. The benefits of playing video games are limited!

Still, if you don't care, just work like mad on this RPG! :P

Believe me, I know that homework comes first. tongue.gif

The whole job part won't work very well. Mainly because I am a referee! O.O How'd I do homework when running? bleh.gif

As of now, I have 3-5 hours on Fridays, and the whole weekend. Depending if I am hanging out with friends. I just play SC/make maps to pass time. I cannot stand television, I feel that it is a waste of time. So, I am making maps to learn things. I guess...</endspeechrantthing>

Old girlfriend? So I assume it started when you roughly met her n how you got together, to the point of breakup </3, then how you're friends.. and hopefully still friends or back together? Tho I'd prolly advise.. 90% of breakups are meant to stay breakups.. a break up is for a reason.. Anyways.. Hope to see this to the end!

[ Official Update ]

[ Completed ]
• Shops redone
• New Items
• New Spells
• Changed a few ideas

[ Working on ]
• TBC Battle System
• RTS System
• Text Based Shops
• Spell's Special Effects
• Item Uses (Special Effects)
• Terrain Polishing
[ Explanations ]

Well, as I have stated previously, I redid many things. As of now I find it much easier to start with things. The triggers are much more organized, and bug free. Many condolence's go to SI for the new SCMDraft. If I did not have that wonderful program I would have quit this map.

I have completed the shops entering and exiting system. Which is quite easy, but I still need to complete the text based actions. As in using the shops and creating units to make menu's with in menu's.

I have renamed a few of the items etc... I will be posting their names and uses in the next few days, so keep any out for that.

I completed the names for the spells and what class they will be. The classes are:
-Fire
-Water
-Air
-Light
-Ice
-Dark
You will be able to meld spells together to combine them. I will post more information on that later on as well.

I will also be working on the RTS/TBS System for the next few days. An FAQ qill be made for this part of the game. It's something you can't just pick up and start owning first try. There is some "strategy" in my TBC System. So, you'll like it.

The rest is self explanitory....

Phew... That was a needed update. Enjoy! w00t.gif

You stole my "Official Update" setup, but i stole your, and Deep Blue's thread setup to bring a little order to the production setups. :D Nice update! I hope to see a few more screenshots of terrain that you have polished? Item shop text systems, and the battles with turnbased and realtime.
