It isn't.  You can change your browser.  You can't change whether you're black.

sly about what u said, think about it, if sen would use 1 browser such as like firefox, then sen would lose its community. Most of the community is IE users.

For the "Type" in your profile it shouldn't just be a drop-down menu. That limits it too much.
It should be a list of check boxes that are:
  • Melee
  • Use Map Settings
  • Modding
If none are checked, it says "Don't make maps."
If one is checked, it says "X" [E.g.: "Use Map Settings"]
If two are checked, it says "X and Y" [E.g.: "Use Map Settings and Modding"]
If all three are checked, it says "All"

This may be another one of my many stupid ideas, but that would be cool. biggrin.gif
The reason I suggest this, is because there is now the "Modding" type. I make UMS and I mod. People may say "Pick what you do more". But I mod as much as I map.

No... Look at the index...

Usually when I do, it is a bit more IE then FF (by like 1 or two people) then a few with "other".

Sooo, IP what do you think of the system?

face it IP you're not around as much; and you aren't as active in the forums themselves so your number shouldn't be as high. It represents a cross between you quality as a member, your activity in the forums, and your popularity.

So... cruel... you say that like I might have been offended by a low number or something.

Anyways... what is this trying to prove equation trying to anwser? It needs to anwser a problem, and I don't see what problem it's solving! Member respectability? That isn't showable in numbers. Whether or not to allow a member to be a regular? Just another rating system?

I don't think an equation should be put on respecatability.
It's an intagible thing, if someone has it, everyone knows they have it (discounting ILCer n00bs), so it doesn't need to be put under their avatar.

Knowing the colossal size of your ego IP, I did think you'd be offended by a low number tongue.gif

It is a rating system, so that newbies can look and say 'ohh that guy is repsected without using their brains and trying to really find out. It's better than Karma, Minerals, andpost count combined, I'll say that.

kk... maybe?
However...

a - days as a member of SEN
b - post count
c - posts per day
d - member rating from 1 to 10
e - #of members who rated the person
f - admin rating of member starting at 1.000 and bounded from 0.500 to 1.200)

There is no member or admin rating. There is karma and reputation.
...
...

There's also two post counts... real post count where every post is counted, and cumminative post count that exists just like it is now.
Me thinks there is too much shit already dealing with a member's rating.

Here's a post from the staff forum from quite some time ago:

QUOTE
Karma (admin reputation) = k
Repuation (member karma happy.gif) = r
Communitive posts = c (posts in the current system)
Posts = p (total posts)

k * 50 + r * 20 + c * 5 + p/2

Examples
5, 50, 400, 750
250 + 1000 + 2000 + 375 = 3625

30, 90, 100, 200
1500 + 1800 + 500 + 100 = 3900

Both groups would be near promotion if 4000 points was required for advancement.  The difference is person 2 made more solid posts while person 1 simply made more posts.  This is making the assumption admin karma is hard as hell to get.

Ultimate spammer?
0, 10, 500, 1500
0 + 200 + 2500 + 750 = 3450

I just popped the equation out of my ass without trying to make it to complexed.  I'm sure a better one can come along from one of us... if not, I bet dt_bk could make some weird  censored.gif ed up one happy.gif.

Edit:  p should be total posts - c, probably.

Wanna contemplate on the perfect solution for member upgrades?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by ShadowBrood on 2005-06-11 at 19:33:53
Ok so, through the inspiration of Krazydrunkking, I have a suggestion.

A user name/title upgrade called Bling Bling.

Makes the username/title look like it's made of gold/whatever you like for bling.

I dunno smile.gif boredom tongue.gif

Sorry for being vauge. Post count as in posts that count towards your counter, not absolute post count. You add the ratings; member rating replaces karma, admin rating replaces warn.

With pride.

IF a>29 AND f>0.74 AND rating>150 THEN promote to regular

IF a>89 AND f>0.94 AND rating>800 THEN promote to elite

The rating bounds can be changed as the system is used if they don't work well.

It might be a little late to suggest this, or perhaps some one else suggested it, but I was wondering if you could use a system similar to that used in the file backup for the DLDB. So you could simply click on a file and it would display simple information on it.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by IsolatedPurity on 2005-06-13 at 05:24:00
Send a screenshot ratent of the information it shows...
I stay as far away from file backup as possible! smile.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Rantent on 2005-06-13 at 16:24:58
It's not so much the information, such as the settup. You click on the file and it displays a little preveiw of the map or something.

hmmm idk if anyone brought this up but what about the ability for a person to be able to delete his own account so if they did want to make a new account they could just delete that one and make a new one?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by RexyRex on 2005-06-30 at 13:56:45
There is no reason for double accounts, and you can change your name every 15 days.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Lisk on 2005-07-04 at 08:05:42
already suggested?
able to remove avatars/nicks/participation/minerals/custom titles/map types from the left. (like sig/avy)
I'm not interested in persons participation w/e.
It's annoying to do it via custom css

A)Get an IRC channel.

B)Put in a StarCraft hall of fame with people like Tux and IskatuMesk who do amazing things with the tools they are given.

C)Add more games and interactive stuff for when people are waiting for someone to reply.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Lisk on 2005-07-04 at 12:51:54
a) bnet tongue.gif
b) agreed ^.^
c) do something else? music/video/eat/sC?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by IsolatedPurity on 2005-07-04 at 18:35:09
Lisk, that might be a possibility.

IRC channel has been done already by Killer2001, no one visited it.

Hall of fame, yeah, maybe. Except I don't know who would all go on there, so maybe later.

Interactive stuff, hopefully after Senv5 launches.

Please make it so you can change the capitalization of your account name when signing in.

As of now, I can't even do that without 2 name changers because it tells me "That account name has already been taken" even though it's mine.

Thanks,

In the new version, you should make it so if someone posts after you, you cannot go back and edit the post that they replied to (S.T.A.R.S-Chris did this to my to try and prove I was an "idiot")
