Wooo now thats one nice waterfall!! haha makes me want to make maps n maps n more maps tongue.gif how did you make the actuall waterfall in that shot? where the crystal is shining down n then hitting the bottom ( which i assuming is observerses dying) but whats all the sprites and crap involved and how stable is something like this in a game....? yawn.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by TheOddAngel on 2005-02-03 at 08:11:10
Spites are evry stable... They are the same as doodads but they arn't attached to the ground because the bottom is "cut" off...

There are no Observers Dieing...

If you want the cool splash effect you add in Halu Deaths and add in some cool water noise

BTW: I saw Voids terrain yesterday and I must say It Really Is As Good As Everyone Says

I haven't been able to log on sc yet to check out this map, but it seems this whole thread has been tied to your terrain in your map. Just an observation...

That's basicly what i'm working on currently anyways. tongue.gif

I'm also working on triggers that have to do with terrain and sometimes triggers that have to do with the Engine, i fix every glitch as i go so it's going really good. wink.gif

ya, how do u do that slanted terrain?.....

Simple, basicly you choose two terrains that can easily blend into each other (naturally blend) such as dirt to grass (in jungle). Using any other kinds of fades are a bit harder to pull off.

Then, create a jagged 1x1 square terrain using the regular grass and dirt terrains. Then after, you scroll through the tiles that show both dirt and grass. Select terrains that match the curves of your jagged grass and dirt. Allowing for unique and wierd curves and slants to occur.

UNFORTUNATE NOTE :
I'm about to get World of Warcraft, which will dramaticly slow the completion speed of this map...

I'm going to put walkable ramp terrain on the beach so it looks like the dirt is going to to the water, i'll edit screen shots when done. wink.gif

NO!!! NOT WOW!

Oh no... I think we've lost him...

You should make the paths to and from other towns more dramatic and have a better feeling... Making you WANT to see what is around the corner, WANT to see whats in the cave...

it will prolly only slow him down for a month... after that he'll figure out you have to pay for it.

You got the terraining skills to back up your map, but do you have the triggering skills? tongue.gif

The terrain is nice, I admit I can't do any of that, I'm more of an old school map maker tongue.gif Let's hope you don't hit the corridor limit or sprite limit tongue.gif

If i get a little time i can do almost any trigger system without a tutorial, just not that Gunner System map Tuxedo-Templar made, and that's the crappy terrain in the map. tongue.gif i was showing basic pictures, the good terrain is elsewhere wink.gif. I'm just as good in triggering then i am in terraining.

World of Warcraft is awsome, i think i can even play it without a disc tongue.gif
And now i am grounded from games for a while, so i won't be on starcraft in a while.

I got that covered wink.gif i use Game Cards every 2 months (game cards give 2 months more) biggrin.gif

I didn't know gamecards do that... What kinda card? I might think on buying it if i get a new computer.

OFF TOPIC:

Game Card over here is 37.99$, but the use of it is if you do not have a credit card, each game card is worth 2 months of extra gameplay. So it's a good deal, 40$ every 2 months. I was thinking of starting a thread in the Games forum for people who play World of Warcraft, and somehow maybe we could start a Guild for SEN Members who do play WoW. But you'd have to be on same general team like; Alliance(human, night elf, dwarf, and gnome) OR The Horde(orc, undead, tauren, troll)

Ya if i played WOW i ether would be a human mage (female), Nightelf Hunter (female) or a Dwarf Paladin (male)...

Lets get back on topic now...

So what % of your map is done now?

I have about 40% on terrain and probably about 5% or less on triggers, i'm not making the map at a fast pace anymore. wink.gif

Sounds like it'll be great if/when it gets finished biggrin.gif , lets just hope the 2005 part of that release date stays correct cool1.gif . BTW, why only one screenshot in this thread(that one on the first post) or am I just missing the links to the others somehow? ermm.gif

I don't know why you dont have all the screen shots... They're all there for me.

Anyway: I have an idea for a place. You should make a Huge Montanous place with lots of twists and turns and mabe some tunnels under the mountain wink.gif You could have secret tunnels under the mountain and have one leading to a city underground that is aincent and the people there have a different way of life ect...

Make sure if you have an ocean part... Make sure you have boat's and put some detail into the water because Just going across pure water isnt that good looking. You need to have some little islands and whatnot sticking outa the water.

Hope those Ideas Helped...

Dunno if you said this already but.. how many players are going to be able to play...? with more than three I must say you're probably going to run out of strings if using comments and such...and if you add more strings using the GUEdit way when you save triggers and import them, you should b careful not to reach the string max again or else the strings start to mess up and take the text of random comments and locations and such... its messed up but be careful if that's what you're going to have to do . . . just some useful info you may take heed of.
good luck with ur map smile.gif

i'm making it up to 2 players. but i sort of need to worry about strings for all the random triggers and systems i'll be using. wink.gif

I wish blizzard would put a higher string limit on starcraft maps in the next patch, a bunch higher one cool1.gif . Hmm I guess I am the only one that can't see those other screenshots for some odd reason... or else they were taken down for space concerns, ah well sad.gif .
