[Hey, i know i've been saying quite a little about my upcoming rpg, but i'm going to take every little bit of time to make it as real as it can be, no glitches, terrain best blended, etc. etc. so it won't be comming out anytime soon, neither will a thread with main or in depth information, but i'll be creating this thread to give the concept and remind people of the map. A new RPG based on modern life, and when peoples dreams start to interact with reality...anything can happen; people can hate you, then people can adore you the next second, an animal can turn into almost anything with no warning, can turn into something harmless, or it can turn into something that will kill anything on site. you, just a run-of-the-mill citizen, can do quests, to restore the earth to what it used to be, or can even help do more damage, can get a job, maybe buy a weapon or two...or throw in a couple items that can effect you or the people around you normally, or some items that will make things in the environment crazy (something that just doesn't make any sense). But during all that, there's an organization trying to have this phenomenon shift into something that only they can control...the Sunset Squad.

(also trying to make a food system so when you're really hungry you slowly lose health, or even starve to death)


I have compiled a list of 4 testers, so here they are :
  • Euro -aka- Avalon(MC)
  • Flamarial -aka- Flamarial(MC)
  • Moogle -aka- Evil_Moogle or ToXiC(MC)
  • Mp)3 -aka- Mp)3

INFORMATION:

Map Dimension: 192x192
Human Players: 2
Computer Players: 4
Scenario Tileset: Jungle
Terrain Style: Starforge/SCXE -- Blended

That's all the information i'll release for now, i'll be adding ALOT more to this thread once i come out with a fully functional demo of the Engine and Terrain.

Thanks, i've been working on the terrain for a while now, and those screen shots are only 2 towns and 1 shop wink.gif...i'm trying to make an entirely new town; new idea. Like how there could be an 'underwater cave' town, or in Legacy of Haean that city where the buildings are on an independant dirt cliff... anyone have any suggestions?

Because this is a forum where you create topics on maps in progress, and also because this place i can get more feedback.

Im not too excited about the towns, but that beach looks really great, especially in the second screen, where it totally gives off that vibe.

On the second screen shot of the Beach, (wich im calling Thetus Lake now wink.gif(Thetus Lake is a real lake around where i live, though the lake looks much like a beach and is most popular lake), as you see the Civilian over the cloaked beacon, he's a beach salesman biggrin.gif who sells foods and goods to you for a fee. Such as
  • BBQ Hamburger
  • BBQ Hotdog
  • Bottle of Water
  • etc. etc.
I'm also making it so when a player is talking to him (he's serving or helping the player), and another player goes up to him, he'd tell him that he's busy with another customer, and come back in a minute or two. wink.gif Also in stores you can rob them, kill the store worker...when you kill the store worker, it will be a while before you can re-enter the store because their looking for another worker. biggrin.gif
You can also get jobs, run errands, work for bad and/or good organizations.

what about, if you kill the villagers, then the villagers are your enemy and they do like 9999999999 dmg? (I'm exaggerating. I mean 9999)

I finished that beach salesman part, just not the purchase system, now i am currently working on saving locations, changing some triggers so they work better and not as complicating, adding terrain to fit my idea of map, and fixing glitches.

Right now all is going well. wink.gif

Yacuzzis? i might put a pool, but what's the point in a pool on the lake/beach?

I was thinking of putting a couple Temple Tiles out in the water and put a citizen on each one so it looks like their in the water swimming, + with the pylon aura in finished ver. it would look awsome. wink.gif

Wow, Void the beach is pretty kool, some ideas for you

A.) Twilight Falls paythaways arent very random, that would reeeeaaaaallly help you when you are working on terrain, espacially since you claim you have the "Best Terrain Ever"

B.) You could put your unamed town down as Ligonoth [Probly not..]

C.) DO NOT LET THIS MAP GO!!! I would love to play this once it is finished.

Don't worry i won't abandon this, i didn't really abandon Metroid Prime 2: Echoes RPG, i just came up with this RPG snd started it, then MP2: E got a little bit boring to continue...but this map is fun to play and make so far. wink.gif

Nice Archon, really nice. Lol you got your waterfall put on the Staredit Banner. Thats really nice, I told you it was an awesome waterfall! Well Goodluck finishing it. I know its gonna take awhile but from what youve showed me it looks great.

Well.... its pretty good so far, I like your 'dirt into ocean' terrain. I have decided to use it in mine.



A few things to consider:

-Its replayability`-._
---Is it actually worth playing a second time? Any special endings or side questing?

-Its purpose`-._
---What exactly is the point in playing this? Do I get something for it?

-Its Fun Factor`-._
---Is it appealing?

-Its Difficulty`-._
---Am I going to be doing some annoyingly long levels over and over with the odds always against me?

-Its Complexity`-._
---Am I just doing the same crud over and over... boring...? Mini-games?

-Its Terrain`-._
---Though you are using a great deal of excellent terrain, how will the terrain's interaction with the units? Is the terrain going to isolate the actual gameplay? Meaning, the terrain overshadows the actual unit movement?

-Its Effectiveness In Story`-._
---Is this a soap opera? Is this full on action all day?

-Its Size`-._
---If the map is friggin 20mb, think about how many people would be willing enough to commit to a 3 hour dl.

-Its Immersion`-._
---Will the map allow for the players to fully "feel" the game? Will this rpg pull the player off their seats to see what will happen next?

All of this is required for a sucessful rpg that can be deemed "great".

Say it's like fable..you can either do bad things, do bad jobs but get paid well, or do good things, and good jobs like errands and real jobs and get paid pretty fairly, you choose how you play, but you only choose how you play Where you currently are stuck/staying.

I'm doing my best to keep it 50/50, pretty fair, and gets harder as you progress, maybe Really hard, never know due to random enemy unit and/or actions.

I'm a person to be creative and improvise, i don't plan every bit then make it, i think of a map idea, what it's about...and create terrain as i go, yet it will all tie with the story-line.

It can change from one to the other, maybe when your fighting 2 enemies, they might merge together to create something bizzare and has no meaning, and sometimes they'll just attack, run, use an ability...you never know. And the quests and stuff, etc. will also be changing from 'grandma walking across the cross-walk' to 'high action packed cereal for breakfeast' tongue.gif

I never really do care about the file size, i'm not planning on making this a map that will be hugely played through out battle.net, i'm just making it to play for fun.

I'm doing my best to make the terrain feel as real as possible and give them the vibe that their actually in a landscape which i try to make it, same with the gameplay, i'm just doing my best to make it feel as realistic as possible.
