i dont know if this is because of someone got a hold of an un-protector program (they are out there i have seen them) or people arn't protecting there maps.

people need to protect there maps so that other people cannot steal them.

people who steal other's maps so that they can have a rigged person is gay. if you run across any of these maps, please delete it from your computer. that will help keep people from spreading the "gay " versions of the maps.

[center]Tarred, and feathered, LMFAO!
Anyone who takes credit for anything that isn't their own needs to be punished, not just in the StarCraft world. I've had a few maps stolen, and it's really annoying when you play your own map, and people think you're a liar when you say you made it.

Map unprotection is as widely available as map protection. The only thing that is hard now to unprotect is ProEdit, and even that has it's flaws.

lol...

well i guess you guys all play broodwar @ battle.net and not good old hybrid starcraft.. smile.gif

I went back to normal SC a few months ago just to see how things are there and most of my old friends palying the normal version.. and if u think broodwar maps are censored.gif ed up, then i just can say walk over to hybrid and play 5 games..!

i swear 4 of those 5 maps are rigged to hell.. changed and "updated" 1000 times and maniuplated to maximum..

i saw team micro with different % shield (not the protoss shield, the one u can edit and its not seen while u play.. i just gets less or more damage)

all madness maps are rigged, most (80%) of the defense map like maze defense are completly noobed up and u can play it with 1 finger and 1 eye, while u watch tv nearby lol..

specail forces, rpgs and so on seems to be ok, allthough people still like to mess also those maps..

in fact its a long time ago i saw a real good non-rigged version of any map..

truly sad....

[center]Ever since the release of the extended editors, map making ability, and map quality has steadily gone down among the map making population. Although many people have gettoen better at map making, alot more people have either gotten worse, or just stopped making maps all together. Now it's come to 'updating', 'editing', and 'modifying'. The vast majority of people who interact with map making have lost skills.
As a result of this, people have started to lose interest in Starcraft map making, and even the game itself. Now people have to resort to playing rigged maps, just to get a win, so they can have bragging rights, over the n00bletts. If this continues, every map ever made will have at least 1 update/edit/modification. People just can't seem to play an honest game with eachother anymore.

Yea thats the point.. the "i am god"-complex taken over @ battle.net and the reason for "updating/modifying/changing maps" isnt to higher the quality anymore... its just used to give the REeditore the ability to be better then others... or to eeez up games so they cant loose anymore...

But its also a problem of which people playing games .. i mean to be honest im allready afraid to play on battle net those days.. its filled up with noobs, wannabees, cheaters, laggers, "gogogog freaks" and all this kind of people which annoye u after some time..

and so i guess the quality of the maps just represent the skill level of the players playing them these days... lol .. its really a low standard right now..

and like u saied... what can we expect from such lamers if they can easily download advanced editors and so they have the ability to do their messness like they want..

Well, battle.net is alot better now than 3 years ago...

Before wc3 came out. ALL the newbs were still playing SC and they just made things uberly gay. NOw wc3 came out, those newbish people left sc and went to wc3. So now SC is left with the "good" people like us.

Here is my advice of what you should do to avoid rigged maps:
Play only Snipers Bald 316, this map is old as hell and still hasn't been rigged, and it's so much fun.

Not quite: there are no programs that automatically unprotect anything except for SCU. The guides for PROEdit take a long time.

You just confirmed what I said. The common programs used for locking are GUEdit and SCMToolkit, and a another in the DLDB. And SCU can autu-unprotect all of those. ProEdit, like I said, is the only hard one to do.

i just played the hl team fortress, and well, it was bug free before, but some censored.gif changed soo much of it and made it suck so bad, what i dont get is that ppl rig maps but they dont seem to understand how the map worked in the first place, and its funny to see rigged maps go wrong isnt it biggrin.gif
also, they always seem to rig player 1 for some reason, which i dont get. i guess riggers get carried away, cus i aint seen any simple rigged maps, but when i think about it theres alot more rigged maps out there, anyway one question. when we dl rigged maps does it overwrite our copies of non rigged versions?

only if they have the same file name.

Make sure to save another copy of all your favorite maps on another folder and exit games that you have dl in them on maps you already have!

Actually you can challenge yourself by NOT doing that. Rigged is when you win unless you do something REALLY stupid.

I always ran into that same problem with my early maps. Now I use a few different map protectors. When I update one of my maps I change between wich protector I used last in hopes that even if someone does extract the CHK and tries to hex it they might suceed the first time after a long time, then when they try it again on a later version they'll hit the wall wondering why the heck the encryption changed so much.

Incase any are looking here... I'm not listing which ones I use closedeyes.gif

If anyone out there is looking for a good challangeing map, try either of my Merchants RPG maps, Merchants RPG 2 Champion Edition v4.7 or the Merchants 3 RPG. They're both in the UMS archive, and are reasonably difficult.

Im guilty of rigging one or more maps sorry.gif . Like my 'rigged' version of Star Photon D. All i did was add an scv to make bunkers and a barracks to fill them up.

Feel free to stone me to death (not quite to death mind you...).

Never take shortcuts in life (or starcraft) as it will end up biting you in the ass.
