Staredit Network -> Serious Discussion -> Is there such thing as "Negative speed"?

So that would be like x[sup]7[/sup]?
Could a HyperCube be built or is it too much for us to do?

AAAAAAAA it burns my eyes!!!!!!!! blink.gif

But a 7d hypercube being built? I suppose we could but it would be so friggin' difficult that it would almost be impossible.

Although we might not be able to if that center is a point being 0d space and therefore being impossible for us to build.

And about the black hole, the whole going somewhere thing is only a theory that to me makes a bit of sense but since I like to throw wrenches into the works, lets just suppose that it really doesn't go anywhere. Then if you were able to get to the event horizon and sit right on it (not getting sucked in of course), then if you traveled around it (and time and space being warped past that point) in a big circle than I think you'd be traveling through multiple dimensions (in this case universes not states of what things can exist in), not necessarily going backwards or forwards in time, but traveling across it. No one ever said that wasn't [sub]i[/sub]m[sup]p[/sup]o[sub]s[/sub]s[sup]i[/sup]b[sub]l[/sub]e.

Technically, I'd say that that means to freeze time and travel across the physical plane. Is that what you meant?

Not quite but I guess you could look at it that way. More what I mean is, if time and space have no bearing, then you could travel more across time than space. And I mean like, directly across, not backwards or forwards, but more sideways.

Ah, but a better question is..

...Where would you go?...

hmm... that 7D hypercube... I thought I drew one before basically a whole bunch of cubes within one another attached via diagonal lines that create faces within the cube itself with another cube inside it. here is a normal hyper cube:

[attachmentid=9345]

in other words a 5D hyper cube would be 4 of these things next to each other connected like at all sides the corresponding sides and a 6D cube would be four of them all attached at the corresponding sides, and a 7D would be 4 6Ds atached at all sides. I think that that picture is a revolved 7D hypercube becuase a hyper cube revolves by flipping inside outish and in one form it is like a trapezoid. Get my drift? basically the equation for dimensioins, is that it basically multiplies itself by 2 with all the sides connected. example: 2nd dimension x2= 2 squares, now if you connect their corresponding sides you get a cube. 3rd dimension x2= 2 cubes, now if you connect their corresponding sides you get a hyper cube. and so on. the 1st goes horizontal, 2nd goes vertical, 3rd goes to you or away from you. the 4th's new line lies in the direct diagonal connecting the 2 cubes. notice in the other dimensions that the new line is always the new way of movement like in the first the horizontal connector is the 2nd dimension and in the 3rd the away or toward connector is the 3rd dimension. so this should apply for the 4th and notice how diagonal lines are plotted in our 3rd dimension by 2 points, while in the 4th perhaps 1 point. do you get everything now? I will answer any other questions... I wish I could post my microsoft paint drawing of the dimensions on here... but I can't... SEN won't let me lol... but the explanation should be enough. If you have read the whole thing without getting bored and going screw this!, GOOD JOB!!! biggrin.gif tongue.gif biggrin.gif

*edit* scratch everything I said about the equation, go to the post that replies to wtf is a hyper cube and click info. it has a better equation. lol.

That's a very good question that I nor anyone else (that I know of. If anyone knows feel free to answer that question) can answer. But you could guess that you'd travel into an alternate universe that exists in the same time frame and point in space but you wouldn't be where you started off. By that I mean same place, same reference frame, different universe. And those alternate universes are created when anyone or anything makes a "decision" and thus the universe it exists in splite into inumerable other universes. But they all follow the same reference frame (not time, that is constantly changing because of a decision someone makes) but they are seperate. But there is another possibility, that something could exists in all states in one universe thus allowing for quantum computers (somehow) but making my guess incorrect. So think what you like but don't get pissed off if you don't like this or if I said something wrong. I'm only using the limited knowledge base of a 13- year-old here (considering I'm 13 and all).

Ha-ha, no worries. I turned 14 two months ago. =P

Anyway, traveling to other dimensions, eh? Well, it depends on how you'd view that. Is it time that connects universes to one another? Or is it really just another, possibly even 'warped' form of space? Interesting topic to pursue....we should make a different thread about it =P. I can see it in the topics page now..

"Universe Hopping! Time travel? or another form of Space travel?"

Bah, but thats not important here. Were not even talking about the impossible possibility of negative speed =P.
