I guess I'll join up. I thought of a very origional idea that is very possible to do with just staredit. Sending the minerals now.

Well, I just looked at the normal Campaign Editor, and I just realized this is going to be a VERY long haul. One question, colour text allowed? Anyways, this should be marked on terrain, triggers and gameplay basically.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Gigins on 2005-10-08 at 02:26:32
How will you check it? Like if someone uses SF for triggers(only triggers found in staredit).

Also I don't recommend let everyone to judge. As much as I have seen gggplayar is no good in mapmaking and judge must be pretty good even better than contenders. Because judge must know what and how is made to properly judge map's complicacy.

Also how about making SC maps only? Like no BW...

You won't be able to tell if the person used starforge etc.

But that wouldn't really matter, because it's still staredit vanilla compatible.

no way to detect scmdraft if they only use the staredit like features, since it saves maps in staredit format smile.gif

yes and thats so cool, comparing to damn SF saving maps in stupid "scx" formats. 2-3x size and without sounds. Go Go SCMDraft tongue.gif .

I'd be interested in entering, but first, a few questions:

1. Are we allowed to use StarEdit's load trigger feature to steal advanced triggers from other maps (provided that we don't use any other editors to open those maps and get the triggers out, of course)?

2. Are we allowed to exploit StarEdit glitches? A few months ago, I was having mouse problems; one of the side effects of these problems was that when I was trying to grab onto a unit to edit it, it would accidentally be dragged to the side, and stacked on top of whatever other building might be there (don't try to reproduce this glitch with PC staredit, because that doesn't support unit dragging, which made this possible). Now, I'm not about to take a hammer to my new mouse in order to get a leg up in this tournament, but if some other Mac user happened to have the same problem, they could theoretically stack units in Staredit, if they were willing to spend the inordinate amounts of time needed to get decent results from a random glitch...

3. If we do something in StarEdit that the judges don't think is possible, but which really is, do we get a chance to explain to them how we did it? wink.gif

Does it have to be an extremely good looking map? Can't it just be classic looking..but fun..not all these wierd effects?

It doesn't have to be good looking, but that would be impressive.

Are programs such as trigger duplicator allowed, if they're only used for things that are already staredit-possible?

Yes, as many people have complained about the deadline.

Coloured text is allowed if you make it in regular staredit.

I'm not getting enough judgeing volunteers, if you asked I'd let you and knock off kow lover.

It has to be "chocolate" starcraft because most maps need the units for playability.

1. No.
2. No. And this is chekckable by opening it in PC staredit.
3. Yes I'd give you that chance. But I'd need proof.

I haven't seen your "good" at your posts gggplayar. You sure post plain and less competent stuff. Especially in my "smart" trigger topics.

Yes you can count me in. I have used staredit for 5 years and I know it's limits and stuff well. But you should remove uncompetent judges. As I said judge must know how maps are made.

ADDITION:
Also can I add 810 minerals to the pot. Just to make it a little more serious tongue.gif .

I think you should allow SCXE for the AI scripts and colored text. If you don't want stacking allowed, you could limit it to Base Edition only.

Nevertheless, many of the locked scripts are very useful, and the limitations in race in normal StarEdit (e.g., can't directly place Zerg units for Protoss player) can only be countered by Give Units to Player, which is quite redudant.

Considering the fact that you CAN use SCXE to preplace units of different races for a given player that will not be deleted when opened in normal StarEdit, the map may very well end up being made in SCXE anyway, and it'd still be legit according to your detection method.
