This so called 'God' doesn't exist. He's a phony. The real path is through Jihad. Convert to Muslim. Come to Mecca. Follow the will. The Free World must fall. Infidels will die.
Remeber: If you ain't Sunni, you ain't Shiit.
If you're gonna believe in god, you mind as well believe in the other trillions of things my imagination can easilly think up of.
im sure a lot of scientists believe in God, but they probably don't believe that Jesus Christ was/is the son of God
so.....Muslim ftw

those things don't talk about morals & don't explain how we were created, so people don't belive in them. people belive in God cuz he offers awnsers to questions, unlike gingerbread man.
Lol well partialy yes religion was created as propaganda, I am talking about the old testament... And as a answer to some questions ppl didnt understand at that time.
But that is not why people started beliveing in a religion, and partialy created it.
And Jammed people dont only belive in god because he offers answers to questions lol.
Also Mr. Allah and Loser_Musician this topic wasnt realy made to spread your view of gods existance, or disexistence.. Nor was it made for converting people into beliveing in Allah
I think this topic should be closed already or something lol..
The point realy is everyone belives in what they want to belive in. God, Allah, Buddha or anything else, atheism included. Because atheists belive no god exists.
And I am 99% sure noone will change their beliefs after reading this topic lol..
And theres no way that you can prove to someone who doesnt belive in god, that god exists
And you cant also prove that god doesnt exist.. Any other god in that matter..
I bet people in buddhism believe they have proof buddha is real (by showing u the statue) lolz... they would prolly be like "YOU SEE HE IS REAL!"

That's the entire point I was going to make, people believe in these things because they WANT it to be true. Religion is not alone in this catagory.
This topic is about wether or not we can prove there is a God or not. Something which I agree with. All I said, was that if you're gonna neglect burden of proof on this, you mind as well do it to all the other trillions and trillions of things as well.
You can't PROVE that the gingerbread man doesn't make the world go around, or that the sun is made out of spiritual milk. You can't PROVE me wrong. As long as I use the same defenses religions have used since the dawn of time, I can never be 100% proven wrong. Your imagination is literally your limit.

Okay dude, if you think that is funny at all. You deserve to be shot on the spot. I am an avid buddhist and we have historic records that prove Buddha was the first/only one to reach ultimate nirvana or enlightenment which means that he was completely liberated from suffering/living the actual life of a real human. Siddhartha Gautama was the founder of Buddhism in real life, he called himself Buddha and that was the name he has been given for a lifetime. The title of Buddha means "Awakened One" which means he was brought to the realization that life was more than money and stress, but freedom to which become something.
Source:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BuddhaAlso there are more meanings to statues than you can imagine, the one that you are probably most framiliar one is the obese one which is used to Chinese Buddhism. A protrudence of the top head means superb mental activity, the long earlobes are denoting that he has superb perception, and a third eye, also denoted superb perception.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddha#Depict...f_Buddha_in_artAlso..
• Who Was the Buddha?
Siddhartha Gotama was born into a royal family in Lumbini, now located in Nepal, in 563 BC. At 29, he realised that wealth and luxury did not guarantee happiness, so he explored the different teachings religions and philosophies of the day, to find the key to human happiness. After six years of study and meditation he finally found 'the middle path' and was enlightened. After enlightenment, the Buddha spent the rest of his life teaching the principles of Buddhism — called the Dhamma, or Truth — until his death at the age of 80.
• Was the Buddha a God?
He was not, nor did he claim to be. He was a man who taught a path to enlightenment from his own experience.
• Do Buddhists Worship Idols?
Buddhists sometimes pay respect to images of the Buddha, not in worship, nor to ask for favours. A statue of the Buddha with hands rested gently in its lap and a compassionate smile reminds us to strive to develop peace and love within ourselves. Bowing to the statue is an expression of gratitude for the teaching.

I take buddhism as more of a philosophy, although there is no "God" in buddhism, so I could be an "athiest".
Ah that's right, silly me
I was confusing buddhism with hinduism.
I thought all religion threads were kicked out of serious forums because there were more people being idiots than actual searching for truth. Well anyways....

I find it interesting that you guys are having a hoot about "You can't disprove or prove God" and people start using "You can't disprove or prove unicorns".
Here is a simple way to DISPROVE GOD:
1) Fact: Our sources determine our beliefs. (Do you think your mind made up Santa Claus, Unicorns, and other mythical things? No, most likely you learned it from TV, your parents, the radio, or maybe from what you get from your senses ie Telephone game.)
2) Theory: If our sources are false, then we have no real merit to our beliefs, and thus those beliefs are meaningless. (like the phrase "ishi no ue ni sannen" to non-japanese spakers)
3) Fact: Despite any geological, biological, philosophical, astrological, or any other scientific facts made FOR or AGAINST a creator, the ultimate source for the Christian God comes from the New Testament, from Jesus Christ. The ultimate source, however, for GOD that comes from Christians and Jews, is derived from the Old Testament.
4) Conclusion from 1&2, given 3:
a) Disprove Jesus Christ as an accurate source, and you disprove Christianity.
b) Disprove the Bible in general, more specifically the Old Testament, and you disprove the God of Christians and Jews alike.
Q.E.D.
As much as I agree with you kirbs, you forgot the reason why people keep believing in this stuff.
1 Fact: People lie to themselves all the time about things. Ego defense mechanism is psychology 101.
2 Theory: People use the ego defense mechanism when it comes to religion.
Now I want a person to try to apply the ego defense mechanism to the atheist side, and try to make it cancel each other out. Just gonna sit here and wait for that post.
In my opinion, Atheists are arrogent
Not all of them are. Alot of them that I know of are pessimistic, gothic looking people who just don't care about anything.
I know these two girls in my Economics class. Both were Atheist and they weren't really cocky or anything. They just hated life in General. "Omg my parents are such b***hes. I wanna kill them." "I can't believe how retarded my teacher is!" And they could care less about school.

That is WAY general dude.
I am atheist because i need proof. Im a creature that survives off of what science can prove to me. I do have faith and belief in other things, but i think religion is a bit far off.
Ill share a quote:
"In conclusion every major religion has convinced people that there is an invisable man living in the sky and a governmential body has the nerve to ask me wether I believe religious people are portrayed as out of touch with the modern world, perhaps you should do something useful with your time such as skim the bible down to a single commandment being 'Keep thine religion to thineself'"

There is some flaw though. For one, the way to "Disprove God" has a theory in it. A theory can never be proven, it can only be disproven. Also, the task of disproving Jesus Christ as an accurate source is pretty much impossible. Another problem is the fact that it would only prove the Christian God wrong. Prove that wrong, then you would have to move to another religion, then the next, but eventually find yourself to an awkward situation. The fact is, God can be applied to any situation, as a being, an entity, etc. God is pretty much a word for everything that we cannot explain. Since we will never answer every single question of the universe, we will never be able to disprove God.
Religion has been put in a bad light lately, thus letting there be the rise of aethiests, most of which are aggressive. Not violent, but enforcing their beliefs upon the religious, which ironically, is what many religious people do upon aethiests. Anyways, I personally believe that it is not right to enforce your beliefs upon others. Because the religious did so to the aethiests doesn't mean the aethiests should do it to the religious. Not everybody follows a religion because they are told to, many turn to religion because of a tragedy. Religion provides hope to many people, and in some cases, gave them the will power to continue life.
Now if that sounded rediculous, imagine this: both your parents died and you lost your job in the same week. You feel very alone, and somebody provides you a reason to live, the one thing science doesn't provide. Chances are, you'll begin to believe in that religion because it doesn't make you feel completely hopeless and miserable. Yes, I understand that people would look at this and think, "That's definitely not what I would do." However, when you are desperate and down in the dumps, anything sounds good.
So basically:
-God can be defined as an explanation of everything we do not know or everything we cannot explain.
-Since we will never know or explain everything, we will never prove that God doesn't exist.
-Religion isn't completely bad because it provides a reason to live.
Just my thoughts...
