^...Because governments suck and never abide by their own god damn essential principles.^
People are going to sing it in any language they want, you can't stop them. Let them sing it in Spanish, our national anthem sucks anyways.

I forget what article I read this in but it was something like in our decleration of independence "Life liberty and the bla bl bla"

and if our government followed that hardcore there would be chaos.

Actually I think its a good thing there is a Spanish National Anthem. Actually it would be awsome if there was one for every language. I mean if some racist crackers want to go ahead and make a topic like this to try to diss mexicans. And don't deny it. Good luck I mean this is more of an embarresment to americans than to mexicans.

What are you talking about? Many hispanics used the national anthem in their language for a negative purpose. It's more about control than it is about illegal immigration. Also, I don't see why this would be embarassing for either side.

Illegal immigration may help certain businesses, but it hurts the economy of the U.S. as a whole. A lot of welfare is handed to these illegal immigrants (I'll just say aliens now), while the aliens don't have to pay taxes. Also, a lot of money is given back to Mexico to help them with their falling economy.

Yes, aliens do bring in about 5 billion dollars, but they take out 10 billion. How does this work? Well, the wages for the average worker is lowered because the illegal immigrants are hired for less pay for the same amount of work. The workers are now in competition, and have a hard time asking a raise. The workers get lower pay, therefore, they do not pay as much for their taxes. This decreases internal revenue. You could say the U.S. economy is decaying. This may not be the case for every place, but you'll find that it is very common among the border states.

Let them sing in it whatever language they want, it's a really terrible song. The reason the notes are so ranged is because it's a poem put to the tune of a drinking song, and the fun of the drinking song was trying to hit the notes. It wasn't intended to be a pretty melody, and it isn't. Give up the vanity people, America is overrating itself just a tad.

Personally, they should learn it in English.

They should do everything in English. No double-prints, it costs money and allows you to constantly speak whatever language you prefer.

Why even have 'ESL' classes, why learn English, when you can do everything in Spanish anyway?

But the way this country is going, who cares, I'd give it to them.

And Wilhelm, you're damn right. Our anthem sucks. It's a drinking song, and it's "god save the queen" or whatever the hell England had.

Our anthem should be America the Beautiful....Or something along those lines.

I personally suggest making Fortunate Son by CCR our national anthem. I think it represents what our country is supposed to stand for.

must admit I have been stunned by the response the newly recorded Spanish-language version of "The Star-Spangled Banner," known as Nuestro Himno, has garnered. It didn't even cross my mind that interpreting the anthem in Spanish might be controversial.

Why all the controversy? Why have such strong passions been stirred? Is it patriotism? Racism? Love of the English lyrics? Xenophobia? An appreciation for the rule of law? I honestly don't know. But I'd appreciate hearing your comments.

Maybe I read it wrong.

I thought they were gonna like...have two versions of our own, and, say, play both at a baseball game (for example) or national events where the anthem would be played. I think it'd be ridiculous to sing two versions.

If it's just a personal change, I don't give half a f**k, take my other comment out.

Now really are you so sure have you read it do you even speak spanish. The national anthem means nothing to me and most other people. I mean really "O say can you see" What the hell does that mean.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by HolySin on 2006-05-31 at 22:00:18
Did that even make sense? Regaurdless, yes, I can comprehend Spanish pretty well, though speaking for me is difficult, I can read it quite fluently. It's not necessarily the anthem itself that annoys people, it's the fact that others are changing it. Do you not see the symbolism in that?
