I don't see how that changes anything, Super Smash Brothers Melee online would've been nice. And all the third party shooter ports with online would also be nice.
Hey I can get a pack of notecards that's more sturdier and portable then the xbox, but if I can't have any fun with it, what's the point?
Yeah the Ps2 crashed a lot in it's early years (I got mine in 2003) I've kicked mine a few times though, it was ok. Xbox I can't speak for, I don't have one. The gamecube having a little handle is nice and everything, but it's not that useful. I rarely took it to other people's house, mainly because there wasn't any games to play on. I actually don't have any games besides James Bond that uses two players.
Online, Disc Capicty, and judging by your tastes, the controller.

I guess SSBM online might be nice, but I just feel the good ole 20 player CS on the comp just has more options and players.
You bring up a good point that most gamers don't actively smash their consoles with hammers. I guess it's just something good to know, that your $150 investment is more secure. I wouldn't trust the PS2, the old model at least, with my life however. Even my old PSONE or N64 haven't broke down.
True, the cube is easy to carry with or without the handle.
The most important thing between all the consoles is if it has the game that you, as an individual likes. I was just talking about the design element and from that point, I think the cube is actually the best in class.
The cube disc can't hold much, but for the games that have come out like Metroid, Zelda or RE4, it is either unnoticed or placed on a second disc. However, this is a big problem with games that require lots of media files like DDR. Maybe that's why Donkey Konga has only 30 songs.
Online would be cool to meet fellow cubers and such. I'm not sure about the PS2, but only about 10% of all Xbox owners use Xbox Live. No online means games focused on multiplayer like Bomberman aren't played as much. For me, it just means to focus on buying the singleplayer games.
I'm not bothered by the controller, except for one game, SNK vs. Capcom 2. The d-pad is better for fighting games and this one is too small and unprecise. The shoulder buttons make presses hard to do because you have to click them all the way down.
It's all tastes, but I find the cube controller more "meaty" than the PS2 in terms of grip. I guess that's all I have to say on that as I can play with any controller.
Anyway, back to the topic, I'm not going to buy a Wii at launch. I'll wait and see what happens, then I'll make a decision later. I have enough games as is with my cube.
The 360 looks nice, but it's still too expensive as with the PS3 to buy. Heck, I'm still playing CS 1.6 and Starcraft, which have the best values I've ever bought.
