I just read it right now in the newspaper that it is 17 stingray deaths in the last decade, less than sharks which is around 8 deaths per year.

Australians taking retaliation against Stingrays. So far 10 have been found dead near Queensland and New South Wales Australia.

Looks like my Australian brothers are really pissed about Steve's death. I don't blame them but I still wouldnt kill Stringrays for it.

I doubt Steve would have been happy about revenge killings of wildlife in his name.

Simon Pierce of Queensland University's School of Biological Sciences said there were no accurate records of stingray deaths, but estimated there had been about 30 worldwide in recent years.

huh, just estimated. not fact

From Youtube.com to the Animal Planet's website, youngsters paid homage to Irwin. Smith says the most poignant post on Animal Planet came from a mother of a 5-year-old Maryland boy who said, "I guess God needed someone in heaven to help with the animals."

lol??

He was following a fleet of stingrays when one turned on him and fatally struck, an extraordinarily rare action. In the past decade, 17 deaths worldwide were the direct result of stingray barb injuries, according to Surf Life Saving Australia, a beach-safety resource organization. The poisonous spine at the top of the ray's whiplike tail can tense and strike if the sea creature feels threatened, but the jab from the 10-inch barb seldom is fatal. Footage of the incident, which police seized, shows the animal turning and hitting Irwin, who immediately collapses in the water, according to The Australian newspaper.

in the last decade, it says.. so more than 17...

Surf Lifesavers national marine stinger adviser Lisa-Ann Gershwin said there had only been 17 fatal stingray attacks worldwide.

17 again..

everything else i see, says 17 deaths.. so i guess thats it. I saw 30 from a small "quick news" at a restaurant..

You do know that steve loves all wildlife animals because the stingray didnt know better so he used tae kwan doe self defence maneuver.

Besides if animals did know better Sharks would own the stock market and Germany would be replaced by Mooses. biggrin.gif

I heard people were killing stingrays for no reason at all...but im not sure if it had to do with Steve irwin though...but that does seem stupid to harm stingrays (Not that steve irwin did, people killing them), the stingray was just trying to protect itself just incase Steve Irwin would attack (not that he was going to..).

I have seen quite alot of Steve Irwin recently and in the past. It always seemed like he had a "near death" experience about three to four times an episode. If I were him I would consider it lucky that I had lived so long. Show hosts like him are always trying to make a name for themselves by being closer to dangerous animals.

Staging? As in faking? If thats the case I should hit you for that, Steve Irwin would never do something like that.

I think he was asking if he was going to act out his death in a movie. I know nothing about that though.
