To be honest, we really don't want to use StarForge in this project. In fear that something might screw up along the way... It's just too risky as of right now.

Well... if you actually knew how to use Starforge you wouldn't get anything screwed up in your map. Just use SCMIE. You can design the terran in Starforge and import it into the map. Guaranteed nothing to screw up... hopefully?

The Terrain Department belongs to Hashmalum. He does not want to mess with StarForge and I respect his decision. Maybe he'll add in some sprites at the end when he's all finished, it's far too early yet to determine exactly... When we get that far we shall see.

Oh its my fault that the map is coming along slowly. I have been working 10 hours a day 5-7 days a week, I have recently been promoted to manager at my job, and my social life is picking up. I try to knock out a section when I have a spare hour or so. I do not want to use Starforge in this project, although for future projects(like an original RPG series) I do like the options available and believe I can make some very beautiful worlds. The terrain is more like 70% done, I have like 2-3 major areas to do before killer is going to start knocking out most of the major trigger work. This map will be finished, I am knocking out at least a little bit of work here and there, and have 2 days off in a row coming up where I will hopefully have everything up to the main shinra HQ dungeon finished and can start planning that area out.

Don't worry, when the map is done it'll be released. We're definitely not rushing this project, because we are gonna make sure every little bit and piece of this map is damn near perfection.

We're definitely gonna make it Closed Beta ONLY for testing. And we're only gonna need like 4 people. If you wanna be a tester PM me... I'm only looking for people who are knowledgeable and respectable members here on SEN. Revelade, you can have the first spot since you helped me with my other map if you want. If I deny anyone of you don't get mad at me, I'm very picky when it comes to things like this.

Also, if you have good knowledge in FF7 that would also be helpful as to pointing out things we might have missed, although that's highly unlikely smile.gif

Edit: Basically just send me a little application about yourself and why you should be chosen for the closed beta spot.

Thanks.

Killer, Will bosses use skills during battle?

Heh, I'm glad you asked this question. The way you defeat bosses in the real game will be identical to this map. In the real game, if the boss can heal, he will have a medic with him... If the boss has a special attack, he will be able to summon this move at random during the battle, and it will attack with the boss as a unit.

Some bosses will require that you figure out what to do in order to even start damaging them, it all depends on what the boss can do in the real game.

So yes, bosses will have skills, and they simply won't be really powerful units that you just easily hack and slash through... You'll have to use a variety of magic power as well as teamwork since boss fights will consist of all 3 players.

Yeah, I made that map back in 2001. (when I was 12-13 years old)

I was rather new to mapping at the time. But now my friend, the times have changed biggrin.gif

FFVII Whole wasn't that bad. Although the lack of any true system deterred the fun a little.

Also, the 'terrain' at the end game had gaps that the whole team could help cloud if need be. smile.gif

Anyways, like what I see for this FFVII project... one thing I want to know, is how did you handle, or will handle, the first boss' (forget the machine's name) counterattack when the tail is raised?

also, what is the name of this series? like some defining characteristic.

maybe something like FF7 Anthology... you get the idea.

Well, since there is no way in Starcraft to detect a unit getting physically damaged, we just decided to have Guard Scorpion (name of the boss) use his tail move randomly called Tail Laser... If you have any other ideas you think might be better, I'm open for suggestions.

The name is FF7 World... And it will be about 5 maps long (I'm assuming)... It all depends on how much we can cram in each map.
