Revelade, you need a hug!
uhhh if the axis reverses nothing will happen. well just spin a different way. and the bottom of the earth may get cooler and the upper part hotter. ......... O CRAP the us will be in a very hot zone if that happens. CURSE YOU!!! im moving to sweden.... o the only catastrophic thing would be if the axis changed in degrees. 0.00034 degree difference could have had the savanah a hugungo rainforest.
o and im not sayin religion is wrong for anyone who read my post. im saying that its sad so many religions had to twist other religions to be more popular. its like the presidential elections. they twist the midns of the hapless citizens!!
I have no idea what atheist and apathetic is.. But I also dont know about a lot of other religions..
Im just a little catholic boy leave me alone!!
Atheism = person not afiliated to any religion.
I don't like being told what do/don't I have to do. I don't care about a guy's adventure that happened 2000 years ago. I don't like reading those books... I don't like seeing people giving their money every week to a guy's business.
I think Church is a business. A BIG one. And i can't say it isn't well thought.
Actually, atheism is the opposite of theism - a belief that there is no higher power or god. Kind of like how apathy is the opposite of pathy. Okay, I'm just joshing you on the second one

.
Thing is how can you thing god is real? when he letting all us die down here. So i dont think he real. Because i know human race is real while god/jesus/satan are not. Only want us think god/jesus/satan are real so we think we can have something look forward to when we die.
Here's what i think: i believe that god is, at most, an observer. About 8 bilion years ago, he made a big, dense ball of mater and antimatter, and the he began it's movement in time. Since then, he has just been watching us happen. So, i don't refer to him as god; i call him "The Supreme Engineer"
By the way, i am non-denominational, and would like to know what agnostic means.
Agnostic is the belief in a higher power, but not having an affiliation to any particular religion.
I'm really starting to believe that DrunkenWrestler is a certain regular on debateforums.net...
His argument style is the same, same use of sarcasm, same vocabulary, same blunt atheism.
To be an atheist is to be possessed of a closed mind, but to be devoutly religious is to similarly be posessed of a closed mind.
That's just a quote I pulled from nowhere in particular.

It's a stepping stone towards atheism.

I'll go where the evidence leads me. That's about how closed minded I am.
That's the sort of response I would have expected from Zhavric.
*sigh*
My point is that atheists are missing out on the spiritual side of things whilst strongly theist people are missing out on the benefits of logic, reason and a critical mind.

I would disagree. I'm atheist, but I still feel the aesthetics in nature. I still look up at the stars feel the majestic beauty. I still think snow is beautiful to look at at night (except after so many people step on it, the smoothness is gone). I simply don't require a God to be able to do these things.
Religious people think anyone that doesn't believe in their god are going to hell, or are going to have a horrible life... that's pathetic. They also think that these other people doesn't have a spirit, or feelings... I just say: wow...
The difference is that we don't waste money every week!
Not all religious people are like that. You shouldn't make blatantly false generalizations, man.

How do you presume to know what atheists are thinking? Have you ever been one? To an atheist like me, there is no such thing as a spiritual side at all. I guess ignorance is bliss, eh? That doesn't mean I can't enjoy beauty in nature, and it certainly doesn't mean that I have stopped asking questions about why we are here and stuff like that. It's just that some of us require proof of certain things, and if none is provided, what can you expect? I, personally, can't accept such a grand idea as religion on faith alone.

..don't these two sort of cancel each other out? athiests try to prove themselves with logic, reason and a critical mind while the other ones try to prove their side with faith and belief (spiritual beliefs). those in the middle are weird..they're denying from both sides...

(<--- not a bad thing, just weird .. for me)
Yep, I'm in the middle so I benefit from both sectors.
I'm not quite sure what I mean by a spiritual side. It's like something that's there but is unexplainable.
I'm Roman Catholic, but I'm kinda in the middle. I believe in evolution and in God.
That's not really being in the middle, that's just theistic evolution.
So what does that make me?

You are pie.
I find religion soothing than thinking of what will happen once your dead... which means sleepless nights for me.

It's not a competition of any kind, just say what you are and that's all you have to do. If your religion is different than mine, it doesn't make mine or yours wrong. Let's just keep this to ourselves, shall we.

QUOTE

I've always wondered this. I think drunken or something said earlier something like
QUOTE
when you begin to deny the existance of other gods, you begin the deny the existance of your own
so that means if you don't believe in others, and they don't believe in yours who is right? if both is right, then both of the religious statements about only one god will be false. I think religion is too confusing so I choose something that I won't even have to care about.
I'm currently taking a break from Religion. But when I return from break (could take many years) I'll be Catholic again.
What's funny is I just watched The Passion for my first time and it really had no effect on me, I actually thought it was funny at times.
"when you begin to deny the existance of other gods, you begin the deny the existance of your own"
Uh... yea can someone clarify this for me... It doesn't seem to make sense.

The actual quote was, "when you understand why you deny the existence of other gods, you will see why I deny the existence of your god." I said that on page one.
QUOTE(Revelade)

I'm not trying to start a war, Revelade, but that's a fallacy of
appealing to the consequences of a belief, also known as wishful thinking. I'd like to believe there's no such thing as famine, but that won't change the fact that there is famine.
On the subject of life, if you've ever taken an economics course, you learn that things are more valuble when they are scarce. When they quanity of something goes down, and demand for it is high, the price and value will skyrocket. If life is finate, it will therefore be limited, it will therefore be more valuble because of scarcity. If it were infinate it probably wouldn't be valuble.
I hope you don't get sleepless over things like ice cream because once you eat it it's gone forever. You make the most of it while it's on your plate don't you? You should do the same with life. Make the most of it while it's still there, because once it's gone, it's gone forever.
I don't even know if what I said was coherent...
Christian No DenominationBecause i think christians are christians. why do people have to come in and separate the christians into baptist, presb., and stuff like that....pity
