I dont get how koreans playing starcraft would be a reason that people will stop playing SC.  Anyways, i think that SC will be around for quite some time.  People are still getting to know SC.  New people are starting SC.  So definitely...starcraft will be here for a long time...

I seen alot of Koreans on SC on west side! :censored:ing Koreans hate them! It seens like this poll/topic is pretty popular!

yes, unfortunaly....

Blizzard will shut down thier servers.... sometime... and then ther will be no world for StarCraft...
maybe the rights to have SC peronalized, so that people can have privet servers will come. and then, Maybe NO, SC will never die!...

QUOTE(`BiG~kAhOoNa` @ Sep 25 2004, 05:10 PM)
I say yes.  Cause eventually Blizzard will stop selling it and people's CD's will break so they'll be no more left.  Or it will die out.

Ummm... when activision shut down the servers for netstorm, someone launched a public server for it. Of course, they stopped selling netstorm, so the cd became a free download. It actually boosted the numbers a little.

Fifteen more years?!  Are you out of your mind?  Old games like Delta Force, which was very popular back in 1998, sometimes I go on there and see only seven people online.  That game is pretty much dead.  And it only took six years.  Even StarCraft will die.  Think about it, would Battle.net even offer Battle.net for StarCraft in 2020?  I don't even think Diablo 1 still offers Battle.net anymore.  Well, mine doesn't work for some reason.

Netstorm was never very popular, started in like 1997 and we still got times where there's 20+ people in the chatroom plus more in the games.

Main reason it won't die: Starcraft isn't very resource demanding.

Netstorm: rts with a very strange twist (you are on flying islands!). Activision (publisher) chose to advertise Dark Reign more than netstorm, killing netstorm's possibilties. Titanic was the producer. http://www.netstormhq.com http://www.nshqforum.com

I bet ya'll never heard of it smile.gif.

Anyone have any idea why Koreans are moving towards East or West more? I keep seeing stupid melee games on the Eastern servers (whatever Bnet), the same goes for Gunbound (another game). There's asia GB and america GB... And all these annoying bastards are always saying JAJAJJAJAJA or lah or speaking whichever annoying language...

Are we better?

Thats whats great about Batte.net you have people playing 6 games (that include expansions), and they are a lot of times in the same chat rooms and such which is why it isnt uncommon for people to have 2 or all three Blizz games.

Last time I checked on average there are more people on SC than there are on war3 and sometimes D2. So sc isnt gonna die anywhere anytime soon.

People will only play Starcraft until Battle.net goes down.

Why don't those :censored:ing Koreans go back to their sides and stay off of our side instead?

I voted no because there so many things to do with Starcraft that you can't be tired of it! You can play mele, use map setting, tournament! And there's always new map!

The point is also that each game are always different! Player don't have the same startegie... it's not like DiabloII where you just have to find weapon, kill unit all the time... And even if other player are cheating, we still have chance to beat them(if you're good enough)

Thats why i think starcraft is here to stay. And when Starcraft2 will be created... Whoa! watch out and buy action of blizzard!!

Sry for the mistakes

You lie, I have heard of it, in fact I've played a demo of it.
My brother used to subscribe to PCGamer and every issue came with a CD of demos for upcoming games.

It was a kinda wierd game cuz you couldn't control your guys (if I remember correctly) and you had to harness storm energy or w/e it was to do stuff.

i probably already posted in this but what the heck i'll post again

well if your refering to starcraft overall then no

but if your talking about broodwar, or origional starcraft then i say yes

when starcraft2 comes out everyone will go buy that, exept for the poor unhappy people, and everyone will play starcraft 2

i think starcraft in genral will live on

but i think broodwar won't

yalll want the inside scoop on sc2? here it is:

QUOTE
Hello. We at Blizzard Entertainment like to let the fans know what's going on with our products. For this reason, we have decided to release some Starcraft 2 information to some of our fans' sites. We give you permission to post this information on your site. First, there will be 4 races, Terran, Protoss, Zerg, and the Protoss/Zerg hybrid, called Vanix. Each race will have 5 new units, 2 new buildings, and new upgrades. For the Terrans, they will have: Rocketeer (shoots rockets, has splash damage), Heavy Cruiser (improved Battle Cruiser, used in heavy assault situations), Wraith Bomber (it's a bomber), Wraith Kamikaze (like the Zerg's Scourge, but has guns too), and Cannon (not like the Protoss cannon, but more of a tactical strike cannon, immobile). The Protoss will have: Mothership (improved carrier, holds 20 interceptors, more health, more shields), Nomad (physically improved Zealot, with an energy rifle), High Archon (a Dark Templar/High Templar meld, it will be like a Dark Archon, can mind control, and attack), Walker (combination of 5 Dragoons, slow, but very powerful), and Exploder (name may change by release, it's just like an Observer, but can be sent in to detonate inside an enemy base). The Zerg will have: Hyperlisk (Ultralisk's evolved stage, much quicker, and much more powerful, can burrow), Acid Colony (attacks both ground and air with acid), Creeper (does not attack, only moves underground, used for spying), King (like a Queen, but can attack, and infest any building of any race that produces soldiers, thus making things like Infested Siege Tanks that roll into areas and explode), and finally Bladeling (a bigger version of a Zergling, stands upright, and wields blades for arms.) Second, here are some of the upgrades (some, not all, there are many more than this). The Terrans will have: The ability to make any building fly (including supply depots), Omega Ray (like the Battle Cruiser's Yamato gun, the Heavy Cruiser's Omega Ray will do much more damage), and (one of our favorites), the ability to eject from a vehicle. Let's say a Siege Tank is about to be destroyed, you can eject the person inside, and you'll be able to run away, thus saving a person for later use. The people inside the vehicles will be statistically better than Marines, they'll have more health, do more damage, and have better range. Some Protoss upgrades include: Pylon mobility (yes, now you will be able to move your Pylons. It will be wheel based, so it can't travel over water.), Dragoon Cloak (you'll be able to cloak your Dragoons with this, we're not sure if we will have this for Walkers though), and Fortify (a High Archon ability, it channels the shields of the High Archon into either a building or another unit. Zerg upgrades will include: Overlord bombing (you'll be able to pick up bombs with overlords, and instead of just spying with them, drop bombs on your enemies) Zergling Acidic Sac (will allow Zerglings to spit acid), and Hyperlisk Trample (if a Hyperlisk encounters a small unit like a Marine, it can simply walk all over him and kill him) There will be some added graphic effects too, if you destroy a Battle Cruiser, it may either explode in the air (depending on the force of the blow) or it may fall to the ground, causing damage. Another cool effect we have planned, sometime when you destroy a Siege Tank, you'll see the driver fly into the air, then plummet to the ground. We also plan the following: If a machine based unit is destroyed, it does damage to the units around it. We do not have much information on the Vanix race, we have just started working on them. We may even throw in a hidden mission or two, or even a hidden race. The cheat codes will be changed, and they will still be disabled on Battle.net. Speaking of Battle.net, it will be possible for 14 players to compete in a match, and it will be possible to change settings (day/night, fog thickness, etc.) Alliances will be chosen before the match starts, and cannot be broken. You will be able to ally with the computer as well."

haven't read it all but sounds cool overall, glad they took a move !! Anyways, i guess it will be a lot more complicated and very hard to balance. I wish there was one more race though. (4+1 = 5)

And by the way, Starcraft lives.

Edit: hope it's not a mod, hope it's not 3D - guess its hard to map make with it. Hope they add more units to the game.

lol Personaly ... Blizard doesn't have units baced on other units so you wont be seeing Hyperlisk an ultralisk that can burrow and a king... comon they will create new things... anyway the only thing that i would say they might put in is the High Archon but it will be called something else... also when there done with SC Ghost and WoW they most likely will have 5 or 6 races because Warcraft 3 has 4 and basicaly SC is far behind the process of Warcraft. They will msot likely just Add alota races. They will most likely have A editor and graphics like Warcraft 3.

Thats jsut what i think...

PS: SC WILL LIVE ON TO WHEN I HAVE GRANDCHILDREN BUT THEY WILL BE PLAYING StarCraft17 War Of Everything biggrin.gif

Fancy title wouldn't ya say

Actually, CD-Keys are NOT listed like that wya someone mentioned up there.

The only thing they could do is ban registered cd-keys. I have never registered mine and I dont think I will anytime soon.

Besides, I dont even think its LEGAL to do that. You pay for the game and the services to battle.net. Diablo 1 battle.net is still online (lots of people still play it). Banning the CD-Keys simply cannot be done. People would complain etc, because when you buy the game you are paying for the services of battle.net.

Damn, I didn't know there was people who kept playing WC 1! Some other people are play Diablo 1 still, cause of those gay hacks they use. If you ever play the first diablo on B.net, about 90% of the people who is playing are hackers!

Well i had to say yes ppl will stop playing because nothing can go on forever....it wont be here in 1000000000 years will it? and if sc2 comes out and its good then yea ppl will slowly move on...hey go to www.starcraft2.com-it redirects to blizzard.com meaning they copywrited the name..meaning sc2 will come out? mybe?

I'll have to say that many people will continue to play SC until a second one comes out, and no I don't mean Ghost. I myself have completely given up on Blizzard. Until they come out with a game that is more strategy than clicking, I will not play their games.
