Staredit Network -> Serious Discussion -> Bush or Kerry?

Cheeze you are dumb. We went to Iraq because we got censored.gif ing bombed. There is people over there being tortured and killed for no reason. America stands for freedom and democracy and its our job to protect the innocent and spread democracy to places that are in desperate need of such a system. What were we supposed to do when 9-11 happened? Sit and spin? censored.gif no! We get the people that did that crime and make sure that they are punished for their crimes. And hey, why not help a country in need while were looking for the whores that killed so many of our people? And why pull out now? So all the people who died, died in vain? We know what Bush wants in Iraq, Kerry on the other hand doesn't even know what to do about Iraq, let alone anything. Lord knows he's said it all.

VOTE FOR BUSH
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Nozomu on 2004-10-21 at 12:57:07
Wow, PearS, what an incredibly well-though-out argument. I especially like the lack of proof for any of your blatant generalizations. Here's some facts for you:

1. Iraq and Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11. Absolutely nothing. And yet to this day Bush and Cheney (and you) continue to imply that they were somehow connected. Also, Saddam wasn't a terrorist.

2. It IS NOT our "job" to spread democracy and freedom. To assume that a government has any purpose other than to govern the people who follow its policies is ignorant and arrogant, just the kind of attitude that the terrorists are fighting against. For some reason Bush arrogantly thinks that his policies are not only best for America, but for the world, as well. This way of thinking promotes and strengthens the convictions of terrorists throughout the world. And who are we to say our system of democratic republicanism is better than someone else's government? Oh, and do you suggest we preemptively attack the other 100 evil dictators in the world? Good plan! Way to spread terror, buddy.

And then with your well-thought out response to a not-so-well thought out response I will repeat my statements.

We didnt go to Iraq to spread freedom and democracy, that came in with everything else.

QUOTE
"As for Bush lying, for justify the war on Iraq. Then show me proof of these WMDs." He didn't lie.

If I recall, it takes Congress's vote to go to war, if it was only President Bush's decision and NO ONE ELSES (like you claim) Then we would be only at war for 90 days. (Amount the President is allowed if war denied by Congress)

Saddam played the mind game, if you claim that you have something that you do not have, its the same as having it and should be treated accordingly.
(America finally did what the U.N should've done,((another reason why a world court system would not work)) Saddam would not let inspectors into his country)

Why would people run out of building if a crazy 15 year old called up and said that there was a bomb in the building. The chances of him actually having a bomb in the building are pretty slim, but people run out anyway because the threat and possibilty is still there. (and this is a true story)
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Nozomu on 2004-10-21 at 13:43:12
Bush said that Saddam had WMDs. Saddam didn't. He never claimed to have any, in fact he kept claiming that he did not. The "crazy 15-year-old analogy" doesn't apply here, because in fact it was Bush who called in the bomb threat, not Saddam. Bush's claim that Saddam had WMDs was a lie, whether or not the intelligence said Saddam had them. Bush was wrong. Instead of taking the time to verify the intelligence, he went to war. He didn't tell congress that the intelligence was from unreliable sources (which it was), he just stated the information as if it was factually known. That may not be a total lie, but it sure as hell isn't telling the truth. And we expect our President to tell the truth, or at least make sure his sources are credible and viable before he bases such a huge decision on them.

Also, the U.N. isn't a world court. A world court is a system for putting people to trial, not for inspecting countries and keeping the peace. So that connection that you made up there makes no sense. And Saddam did let inspectors into his country. President Bush went to war before Hans Blix was done inspecting. In fact, Saddam's power had diminished in the twelve years between the wars. So the sanctions Bush declared to be so innefective were working exactly as they were supposed to work.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by PearS on 2004-10-21 at 14:01:07
Do you actually think that Saddam doesn't have WMDs? He uses weapons on his own people for god's sake. A man like that cannot be trusted. He was too big of a risk. With the number of people who hate America, they probably work together and help each other out. So even if they didn't technically do it, they are still criminals against humanity and they must be punished. Maybe it isnt our job to do this, but nobody else has the balls to do so. And i got back to the fact that people were being mistreated and torture, are we supposed to just push those people out of our minds? Say sucks for them and move on? We have the power to help people, i say we use it.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by @:@ on 2004-10-21 at 16:07:09
Uhh.. good point. my analogy was cool tho right?

Well, I don't know about the dude that was inspecting or whatever, obviously at the time -- Saddam wouldn't allow full access to anywhere --
if i recall correctly, i remember hearing reports of some safety inspector reporting that he was unable to go to a particular place that he wanted to go.. yeah.. long time ago

Anyways, A world court would be much like the Supreme Court today, which is not really working out for America, as it slowly declines morally.

Yes, they vote on minor decisions, but for a issue like homosexuals, should be a country-wide vote. Sometimes, I think the supreme court judges can be more powerful then the president. (at least they have a greater impact on America)

WMDs is a pretty broad term and doesn't necessarily mean nuclear weapons. Saddam still had tons of other explosives that could qualify as weapons of mass destruction.

If for no other reason Bush should be voted for simply so we stay in Iraq and finish the job.

Once again, all anyone is doing is throwing "facts" at eachother where one person's fact blatantly contradicts the other person's "fact". Too many lies.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by CheeZe on 2004-10-21 at 18:30:18
Salacious, the difference between our facts and your facts is we have sources. You have yet to show them. Weapons of Mass destruction go on the scale of "Mass Destruction". Mini bombs and those explosives are powerful, but they do not fit that catergory.

His English sucks: http://supak.com/bush.htm

No WMD's: http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/iraq/2004-10-06-wmd_x.htm

Bush's Plan:
QUOTE
There are five steps in our plan to help Iraq achieve democracy and freedom. We will hand over authority to a sovereign Iraqi government, help establish security, continue rebuilding Iraq's infrastructure, encourage more international support, and move toward a national election that will bring forward new leaders empowered by the Iraqi people.

hmm .. Since when did our people vote for our own leader to go help Iraq? Wait, I thought help meant helping and not killing thousands of civilians there.

PearS, please, either get your facts straight, or stop argueing.

Saddam is in jail and we still haven't seen any WMDs. Saddam never had any and we never had a reason to invade Iraq.

No, he wasn't. He was shunted in to office from an election lost by 500 votes by Fox News and the Miami Dade county voting staff.

There were plenty of weapons of mass destruction, but no nuclear weapons if that's what you mean. And now you are trying to say the President of the United States wasn't elected... ? I plan to laugh after this year's election.

I have another anology to justify America's decision (Not President Bushs) to go to war with Iraq.

This story takes place in a neighborhood, nothing to do with a school.
Lets say that you are a principal at school and there is this 13 year old kid named Esam (name has no revelance).

Now, Esam is a well known animal torturer, he kills cats, dogs, guinea pigs, and anything he can get his hands on, and his parents wont do anything about it! The parents think its okay for their child to do malicious things to animals because he lives in a free country and he can do whatever he wants. One day, a kid nicknamed "Cloak", the one and only friend of Esam reports to you that he is worried about Esam because he recieved a package that had a pair of new bomb fuses.

You get awfully puzzled about this discovery so you take immediate action. You call up the parents and ask if you can come over to talk to them and have a conference. They said no, but Esam invites you over (everyone knows it's cool to have a principal over to their house)

Since you are so close to his house, you walk over there in the cold. Eventually, you enter into his room, and strategically notice that there is a book called "Bombs 4 Dummies" and Cloak was right, there was a pair of new bomb fuses laying on Esams bed. You ask him about it, and he tells you its nothing, you notice that his closet door is open a crack and you advance towards it. He quickly jumps infront of you and shuts the door.

"Nothing in there, Sir!" declared Esam.

Question: What does the principal do next?

*story end*

*credits*

Principal = America
Esams friend = Intelligence
Parents = U.N
Esam = Saddam Hussien
Neighborhood = World

Problem with your story:

Bush did not ask the UN about anything. He made fun of them instead.

There is evidence that he is doing something wrong (WMD-wise, not tortuing and other stuff). No evidence on WMD's sorry.

Oh? Can you quote that out from a reliable source. I seem to have missed it, you maybe right, maybe not. I'm not going to look for it because you should provide source. Also, clearly, you were not watching the debate, Kerry had a plan and Bush only tried to prove how bad it was. He failed.

Salacious, please tell me when Kerry lied. As of now, I have not found a single proof as to where he lied to the public.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by SaLaCiouS(U) on 2004-10-21 at 23:27:48
I don't have examples, I just watch the news and the debates and he is a flip flopper which is the same thing as being a liar. Don't ask me for specific examples, I'm not going to give you any because I don't feel strongly enough about it to go out and get them. However, it is a fault in logic to assume that I am wrong because I don't provide you with examples.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by CheeZe on 2004-10-21 at 23:32:11
Or maybe because you fail to come up with examples. Nozomu clearly stated Kerry is not a flipflopper. All this information you get to Kerry is biased.

CheeZe, they did find proof of WMDs, shells of missiles. I wouldn't of added it if it didnt relate.

and President Bush did consult the U.N and they said no
