Geez, aE, ever hear of a private message? Some of us don't want our screens filled up with giant quotes and questions not related to the topic.

What kind of role do caves play in your rpg... R they as big as LoH and as challenging... Will there be cities in the Caves... What percentage of the map do you think will be above ground and below ground...
There will be one or two caves total. They will be more challenging because you don't simply walk through them looking for an exit. You will actually have to do things in them!

Sounds good... Mabe have the underwater cave have secret enterances to areas of the map...
Example: You find an enterance that leads into the back of the inn...

That could be cool because once youve foudn that secret you could get into the inn easy without going all the way back to the begining of the cave... Now that I think about it that might not be a bgood idea... But you could still have enterances into lakes in forests...

PS: I can't wait for this... how far are you into it now?

_What sort of things?

_The caves in LoH were great, I liked the ideas you used. They were a bit repetitive though, so it got older and older as I went along. Usually, when playing a map it gets better and better as you reach further points in it. I'm not saying I didn't enjoy LoH, just that you could stand to have some variation in the terrain of your caves and the general activity while strolling through them.

_In any case, your underwater caverns were cool, the idea was quite original which I support.

_Keep up the good work Pirate.

I hope it IS alot like LoH and alot different in some ways.
I really liked the idea of the flares to light up dark places. And the way you manipulate terrain and doodads to create a certain theme is amazing to me.. In LoH the city's were crazy.. i mean each fit it's title and stuck with it's theme perfectly.
I would like to see more quests and objectives in this map as opposed to LoH only having a few. I would also like to see more variation of places, but I think you've already mentioned you were including these things.

All in all, i really enjoyed LoH and i can't wait for this to come out.

_Ditto to all of what Coop said, right on the dot.

_LoH was like a seperate game in itself, it drew me to play it more and more (til I beat it ofcourse). If Deep Blue is in any way similar to LoH I'd be obliged to give it a try.

_One more suggestion I have for the map is that you should add more boss battles and add more to them as well. The final boss in LoH was good, but it needed more.

Sorry, but its not downloadable yet right? Because I'm so behind on LoH. Still hunting ghosts and vultures from Mina...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Fortune on 2004-12-17 at 21:16:39
_Yeah, you have a ways to go sckor. After the ghosts and vultures, you reach the third set of caves which have no lighting and consist of zealot and hydralisk enemies. The hydralisk have high powered range attacks and the zealots are deadly if you give them the chance to reach you. I've forgotten what upgrading scale I had when I was prepared to fight in the third set of caves, but it was high.
_LoH took me and VoidArchon(MC) (l)arkTundazar- at the time) around 4 1/2 hours to beat in full I believe, if I'm not mistaken. We had to save around 3 or 4 times as well.
_Personally, my favorite function in the map was the town warp system. I thought it was above all the most useful part of the map and I got the most benefit from it in my gaming.
_Moving on, back to topic; Deep Blue!~

someone give me some help on LoH on another posts or somthing?

Deep Blue size is 128 by 128? Not as large as LoH, but it shouldn't be judged on size so... fitting 2 caves into 128 by 128, and several towns, also with space for upgrading and spell system...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by qPirateKing on 2004-12-17 at 21:42:10
I made this whole document on the world of LoH that tells about everything from monsters to town histories -- it's a shame I couldn't develop it all in the game itself. With Deep Blue, I intend to give the world some flavor by explaining things in this thread as well as in the game.

The map engine is about 75% complete. After it's done, I just need to finish a bit of terrain and do the storyline triggers. Doesn't sound like much, but that's gonna be about 60% of the map. All in all, the map is about 30% done.

If you talk to the right people, you can find an illegal copy of the map tongue.gif.

Oh, I'm not talking about LoH (I think that's what you are referring to). There are copies of Deep Blue out there, that's what I meant.

Now that exams are over, I can get back to work on DB. I finished the shopping system today, and I plan to do the reward system before the end of the week. Here're the basic ideas:
  • All enemies will drop SOMETHING.
  • Possible drops include minor heal (not an item), money, regular items, or rare items (evasion powder/mint drops).
  • Different enemies will drop different things.
Also, I'm thinking of making a way where you can sell the items that you pick up. It's not a hard thing to do, but I need to find a place to put it. Right now, the options menus are full in all the shops. Perhaps I'll add a Pawnshop or a special NPC.

I think a black market tongue.gif

Thatwould be interesting... You go down a hallway and a guy asks if you wana buy or sell anything...

OK bad idea... I think another NPC in the store would be a good idea...

_Different enemies will drop different things? How do you think you'll manage that, randomizing?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by 007Torrasque on 2004-12-18 at 14:10:25
Probably Randomizing, its not that hard smile.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by TheOddAngel on 2004-12-18 at 14:40:40
Ya randomizing isn't that hard... All he would probably need would be 3 switches per monster.

If this is anything like LoH I can't wait...

PS: How long did it take LoH to be finished?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by qPirateKing on 2004-12-18 at 14:55:26
I don't even need 3 switches per monster. 3 TOTAL is more like it.

LoH took 1 year to finish... I took a lot of breaks tongue.gif.

_3 switches total; sounds pretty simple.

_Pirate, I noticed in the map the citizens were named Haean. You didn't answer me before, is this map tied in with LoH? If so, are you going to tell us where the two tie in?

I think you should read posts before you actually post something...

He said this map is made on the continent of 'Haean'... but doesn't have anything to do with the Legacy of Haean... (stop spamming questions that've been answered...)
