well, srry to interupt your conversation, but there is a way to get semi sqr terrain in StarEdit or SC X-Tra Editor, so far ive done it by accident in Jungle, Ice, and Instalation, sometimes if you keep editing the same place with different terrain elevations, on dif parts of the ISOM grid, it makes little 2x1 tiles that dont match up, and to get rid of them u must delete all the terrain ion the elevation that is connected to the glitched part. ya, i found it and nvr actually submitted, or anything. pinch.gif

That's just exposing a glitch in regular staredit, and is not allowed.

Good luck there. I spent hours on mine. If you can find that kind of spare time, go ahead.

Syphon, don't you mean NOT ALLOWED? You said any exploits weren't allowed...you should start proofreading your posts..
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Syphon on 2005-11-08 at 15:21:06
Not enough time to proof read tongue.gif

Can you quot eme on saying no exploits? I don't think I did. But if not I will now.

Don't screw with me here, someone said they could place square terrain with a staredit bug, and you said "no," so why are you allowing it now? Could you PLEASE keep this contest to as strict as it was in the start? If I see ANY square terrain, I will disqualify it, simple as that, and if you disagree with that action, then this tournament is COMPLETELY USELESS. The tournament is to see what you can do with normal terrain and not all of this crap square stuff.

EDIT: http://www.staredit.net/index.php?showtopic=21674&st=40#

PWNED.

I'd be interested in entering, but first, a few questions:

1. Are we allowed to use StarEdit's load trigger feature to steal advanced triggers from other maps (provided that we don't use any other editors to open those maps and get the triggers out, of course)?

2. Are we allowed to exploit StarEdit glitches? A few months ago, I was having mouse problems; one of the side effects of these problems was that when I was trying to grab onto a unit to edit it, it would accidentally be dragged to the side, and stacked on top of whatever other building might be there (don't try to reproduce this glitch with PC staredit, because that doesn't support unit dragging, which made this possible). Now, I'm not about to take a hammer to my new mouse in order to get a leg up in this tournament, but if some other Mac user happened to have the same problem, they could theoretically stack units in Staredit, if they were willing to spend the inordinate amounts of time needed to get decent results from a random glitch...

3. If we do something in StarEdit that the judges don't think is possible, but which really is, do we get a chance to explain to them how we did it?  wink.gif

1. No.
2. No. And this is chekckable by opening it in PC staredit.
3. Yes I'd give you that chance. But I'd need proof.

We will think should we still take your maps as made on staredit. As I seriously doubt it.

Why my quotes got screwed confused.gif

well im not saying that i explouted this glitch, i tried reproducing today at school, and no such luck, well anyway i never used it in my map, plus my map has no need for sqr terrain

2 days until the deadline! smile.gif

I already submitted my map. Though not super "great" by today's standards, it's fun to play, and that what all maps back in the day of only staredit were like anyways.

Who else remembers Jail Tag? biggrin.gif What a fun game. Not at all like the one I submitted, but I was just making the comparison.

Just so you know I'm on a mac just check my topics. There is no terrain editors for macs yet.

Why should I believe you? And SCMDraf2t has mac edition.

It's not out yet the mac version.

Don't you get it? I don't care. You can't excuse with that. Keep bugging me and you will sure be banned for this content.

the mac version of SCMDraft may not b publicaly released, plus u can easily transfer ur map between a mac and pc, flash drives, cds, email, floppies, etc., the only true way to check the maps is to open in Staredit and check all the triggers and open in uberation to see if the CUWP was fiddled with

I wonder how much people are going to submit their maps within the deadline tongue.gif

Apparently you don't understand the fact that he said SCMDraft2 is not pubic release yet. YOU DO NOT GET IT.

Oh shut up, I mean I don't care that he is or isn't mac user. That is no excuse for square terrain.

I propose extending the deadline to Midnight, morning of Saturday, because Friday is Veteran's Day off and is one free day for everyone to finish, test, and debug.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Syphon on 2005-11-09 at 16:50:35
Yes, I'm keeping in strict. Just like there'll be NO extensions.

Party pooper.

Alright, I better rush it.

I didn't feel like searching the whole thread for an answer, but will the winning maps (or all of them for that matter) be available to play after the contest has ended?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Do-0dan on 2005-11-09 at 18:53:57
what time exactly do we have to turn it in by?
