Meh right, i was just thinking a bout cannon balls, im so forgetful.
Also, what happened to Alchemists? i guess I have to check that forum again.
Alchemists = Paused. I need to redo part of the outline and finish the terrain basics before we can restart, which comes after Rush.
Anyway, I'm at a critical decision point now, as I've recently stacked on a plate full of new ideas I want to add:
Divide the project into two parts, or abbreviate it to fit it all in one release? Here's a breakdown:
Single Release-Pros:- Seemless gameplay continuity.
- Characters preserved throughout whole game (upgrade choices, armor, etc.)
- Easier to update with new versions.
- One time download (except for updates).
Cons: - Larger single download.
- Higher chance of abbreviated content for later parts.
- Longer to make (by nearly a month).
Two Part Series-Pros:- Part 1 released sooner!
- More room for stuff in part 2.
- Feedback on what people like/dislike in general.
Cons: - Broken up gameplay continuity.
- Characters not preserved between games.
- More files and downloads to manage.
- Some redundancy.
Note: About half way players should reach max weapon and ammo ups anyway, so I'm not to worried about preserving that across maps.
Personally I would go for a 2 part game. It'll give you feedback for an even better second half, and once you're finished, if a single map is in demand it shouldn't be too hard for you to throw together a "Lite" version (which would most likely be amazing due to the feedback you'd get.)
You said part 1 would take longer to make by a month! so, i say your go both ways, but does that mean number 2 will takes extremely longer...
Darn!
I thought you meant you released the map when you said
"single release".
Also, how did this map get the name "rush"?
You're rushing against time...
Not to mention that it sounds even more dynamic with the exclamation point!
rofl. Those who play it begin to see why the name is appropriate.
Anyway, I think I'll go ahead and do it all in one release, even if I have to abbreviate some content. It might be another month or two before anyone gets to see anything, though.
Also Boneless, I meant another month if I planned to finish it as one release. If I divided it up, I could have part 1 out in within the week.
ADDITION:
Having fun with backtrack editing? I'm am:
Wow wtf, why did you make so many backups. I thought you couldn't play em.
They're just backups. Nothing is different about them.
starforge will backup your maps automatically when you save them, thats why he has so many backups... I think..
Those are SCMDraft 2 AND Starforge backups. Because he kept going to his backup map to make changes.
.bac# is SCMDraft 2
.bak is Starforge
Yes indeed, very sexy! but the sad news comes that he won't be testing it with me anymore
, i'm gonna go cry myself to sleep.
I'll do some more testing before I'm ready to release. It'll mostly involve P2 stuff, then (and I won't emphasize too heavily on it, since it is after all an unlockable mode).
I dunno why i havnt seen this, but it sounds awesome. (though i was hoping it had to do something with the band...)
Cant wait!
Do you have a demo or a trailer? Won't take long to make them except the fully map.
yay, hopefully it will be out somewhere in May like you said...
Anyways, I cant wait!
Looks great, looking forward to when it shows up in a Database near me. (SEN of course
)
It'll be in your local Shopping mart Download Database around the food isle Campaign Section, or something
I think the tag in html for strike through is <"s"> (without the quotation marks)
let see.
<s>strikethrough!
Anyway, lately i've been playing it public with others cause i was bored..(I hope you don't mind), and i've been getting back some great feed back, they wanna see more they say, i tell them they have to wait and they said they'd rather die. Back on topic, i'm pretty sure this will be a very popular.... the most popular single player game yet....
How dare you not talk to me about testing with you.
Be sure to give me a ring on MSN or something so I can play, always willing to work with godly Tux.
