that recall the door thing could be used as a sorta anti map hack choosing thing...
so you can select yes or no to anti map hack...
I'd be willing to test extended units, if there is some number set not yet taken.
(Edit: Just picked a random number, and found one that was actually pretty cool, it created a rock sprite above the placed location of the unit and FROZE SC, not crashed, froze. It also made a terran building explosion sound right before crashing its unit number 5672
Keep testing random ones. We seem to have the best luck doing that so far.
meh true...
What DK said is true. If it cant find it, it will look again (probably starting the list again?) until the number is rached. SOmetimes it plays sounds because it went overboard and started again and found a different sound. Sometimes it crashes because it couldnt find it...
I dunno if this is true though...
Well well well, i tested some random ones, and found some weirdness
CODE
5672-made rock sprite and building explosion sound, froze sc
5673-Crash
5674-Crash
5675-Let game run for 1 second or so, then crashed
5676-made rock sprite and building explosion sound, froze sc
5677-Scourge death sound, apparently no animation
5678-Makes rock sprite and no crash, sprite is above placed location
5679-Scourge death
5680-Cloaking sound, after a second made zerg building death and crashed.
5681-Crash
5682-Zerg building death
5683-Zerg building death
5684-nothing
5685-crash
5685-nothing
5686-nothing
5687-Invisible unit, loads a large number of other units, then crashes(Loads with dropship noise)
5688-Invisible unit, loads a small number of other units, then crashes(Loads with shuttle noise)
5689-Nothing
5690-Broodling death with normal sound
5691-Scourge death then crash
5692-Nothing
5693-Bunker unload sound and loads units, stops loading after about 60 units, dies with scourge death when recalled and crashes (IT CAN LOAD BEACONS!!!)
5694-Broodling death sound and crash
5695-Scourge death sound and crash
5696-nothing
5697-nothing
5698-Ultralisk death sound

5704-Nothing
5705-Cloaking sound, scourge death and crash
5706-Nothing
5707-Cloaking sound, loads units, crashes if too many loaded (Medium capacity) Can be recalled without glitches
5708-Nothing
5709-Cloaking sound, loads units, stops loading if too many loaded (Medium capacity) Can be recalled without glitches
5710-Nothing
5711-Nothing
5712-Crashes after an unremarkable second in game
5713-Nothing
5714-Nothing

5716-Cloaking sound, loads units, stops loading if too many loaded (Medium capacity) Can be recalled without glitches
5717-Nothing
5718-Nothing
5719-Nothing
Oh, and i forgot to mention, most of the other weird unused "Transports" can also load beacons, as well as flying terran buildings
Your the man. I like the sound of 5693.
It sounds like we are talking about experiments: experiment 5679. Can I join? I can only test on weekends though but I can help. I also think 5716 would be cool too.
Anyone can join. We need all the help we can get.
unlike you said bob, the units sprite in SF does matter because that sprtie is an easy way to tell if there is alot of data in that part of the units.dat file.
I found something wierd, if you somehow put an extended unit into a trigger, you get something random (like 228 gave me a trigger in a trigger).
This is how I did it
Doodle77: in a recent spark of insight i realized that in the .ini file of my recently submitted
Trigger Compiler you could add new units which would obviously be hyper units, so i wrote a program to give me i+"="+i for 233 to 500 and stuck that in my .ini file. i then wrote a thing that said move all 233 at no location to no loction and stuck it in staredit and got this.
Trigger |
Players: |
¤ Player 1 |
Conditions: |
¤ Always |
Actions: |
¤ Move All VICTORY at (no location) to (no location) |
so using your ini file for this program you can now put hyper units in triggers
m.r.bob: Cool!
the only problem is that it doesn't seem to work for anything
. You could move the hyper units, but they wouldn't respond.
ADDITION:
Well the ones tested so far didn't do anything.
I only tested it for 2 units. it might not work though, we will have too see

OOOOkkkkk, I didn't really understand that, mind explaining it a tad bit more clearly please?
lol.
It's better if you use the text to TRG converer that Doodle linked you to in the previous post. Then modify the INI file.
Farty's method only allows access to Unit 229 and 230.
ADDITION:
I just thought of something. Hyper units must be like hyper powerups (powerups with health) you can give them, and such, but you can't create or move them.
it would be cool, if all of you could test the ability of the extended-units to unload previously loaded units.
because a unit that is capable of loading and unloading ~60 other units, including buildings and such things could be very interesting for some funmaps

more like a mass APC, and can someone help clear up my previous question?
Sorry to sound like a newb but how do you get these units and play them in a map etc? I want to test them as well because they sound so awsome.
I have starforge btw
Well they are very unstable and only work for PC users. Place any unit, and go to its properties. In the "Unit ID" box, change it to a number. Numbers beyond 227 are considered extended and don't actually exist, thus creating wacky effects.

You probably hate my sig. cause it has a chain letter in it then...
ok see click on a unit and go to unit properties, its one of the options in one of the menu things, then there is a number, change that number to something like 4453 and that is a hyper unit. ok and someone please explain the trigger!!! plz!!! oh yeah, how can you be a noob with that many minerals?
He might have won them in raffles, or someone gave some to him.
Edit: Deathknight--I have those headphones in your sig
Did you download the text to TRG converter?
Once you have downloaded it, open "Trigcomp.ini" with a text editor, and where it says units, under
57=\bY[^ou]# ydragasil (overlord)
write:
233=233
234=234
235=235
continue the pattern until it's as high as you want.
Make a trigger in staredit, except use any unit you want instead of the hyper unit.
Save the triggers as a TRG file using the staredit trigger editor.
Convert the triggers to text.
Change the filler unit to the approprate number.
Convert the text to a trigger
open staredit and use the load trigger button in the staredit trigger editor.
The unit section should be an underscore.
However if you unit is fairly low numbered, instead of saying "terran civilan" it will say "<player> kills <#> <comparison> at <location>" or something similer.
Units 233 is interesting. Besides having good effects in starcraft, when a trigger containing it is loaded in staredit it will look something like this:
Create 1 <Victory!> at "anywhere" for "Player 1"

Ability: Crashes StarCraft I got the minerals from guessing the lyrics to a song. Someone gave me 500 min.. said he had to much. Sorry if I forgot who you are. Thanks by the way for telling me how to test!
In the future, chronophobia, you might wanna set the units to enter nearest transport, and try recalling them etc.... that way you find much more weirdness. Then again, as everything crashed for you, perhaps that wouldnt have mattered. Great job testing it anyway!
Hurray! Chronophobia proved that I am a little right
Theres a small pattern going on with the vesvaine tanks/orbs/sacs. Every other unit is random though (so Ive realized a little while ago). That will help elimate 25% of the units tested in 8000+. Chronophobia and me have done good
I'll keep testing the 8000+ now.
