I'm refering to battle.net. At SEN you usually put on this 'innocent' act and prance along like you never do anything to piss people off.

Yea really, FLaming over the internet is pointless lol. I guess it may get out your anger if you have any. but you don't hurt the other person. IN my case i think its funny when people do it to me. I dont' fight back nor give them any satafaction. Thats all you have to do.

Internet flaming is a lot better way to vent your anger compared to beating your wife, or picking on your little brother, or just flat out kicking your dog. It's a LOT better to misplace stuff on the internet, than it is on real life. Yes, people can still get hurt, but not as much.

This whole ultra liberal, "if you offend somebody, you're in trouble" mentality isn't going to solve anything. It's like 2 different sides of an arguement, and telling them that they may both be right, and that they should not argue what so ever about it. It goes NO WHERE. And if it DOES go somewhere, it's like a snail trying to cross asia instead of some guy trying to walk it. It's gonna take a LOT longer.

Psychology is a load of crap. I know psychology. If you want to "vent your rage," go do it to a book or something.

I heard somewhere that if you just go all out and release your full anger (whether it be person to person or by internet), you still feel extremely bad in a way. So that's why people have been telling us to just keep your cool.

Even though it isn't direct, it's still flaming the person. "I can't believe how ignorant some people can be" is a generalization of "some people" but the person they're talking to is included in that "some people" group. Therefore it could be said "I can't believe how ignorant some people like you can be," which is a flame.

I don't believe in actual psycological issues like rage and all this stuff. Why do I say this? Because every human brain is born differently and develops differently.
You can't just propose a psycological theory and expect it to work on everyone. Thats why when you go to the psychiatrist, he works with your specific situation and doesn't apply a "general" theory.

Venting your rage is not one of those major controversial psychology arguements. It's not like " envy" or anything like that. I think all psychologists agree on it.

Everyone gets angry sometimes. And if you don't get rid of that anger, it'll most likely stay there inside of you. Especially if you try to bottle it up. And if enough of it is bottled up, you'll do something pretty violent. Kinda like a dad yelling at his kids for a really small reason right after he got fired from work that day. Also, everyone has different boiling points. So what you want to do, is try not to reach that boiling point. So you VENT your anger on other things instead. Like hitting a pillow or something like that.

All I was saying was just, venting your anger on the internet via flaming, is a LOT better than venting your anger to someone face to face. Verbal words hurt more than typed words. They can still hurt, but they hurt LESS.

I don't "flame" because I need to vent rage, I flame because I want them to think.

Same here. But then again, they can always try to use the arguement. So it really kinda cancels it's self out.

Ya, that's almost what I've been trying to say. Only difference I have is just, you ARE able to get hurt over the internet through flaming, but no where near as much some guy seriously coming up to you and start bitching at you because of X in real life.

To all my other happy people out there...i leave you with this question, i am currently having my house built on 40 acres of land and the contractor asked me if i wanted a paved parkway. I looked at him and said, why the he ll would i want a parkway paved across my property? Then i said, what are you going to do next, pave a boulevard in the back of my house? He looked at me strange and walked off...well, it's been a serious problem of mine...but, i finally figured out what he was talking about, you see...he was trying to be politcally correct in calling it a parkway, but what he was really talking about was paving a driveway. Now, i beg the question to you people.......
Why do "we" (people in general) refer to a 'driveway' as a place that you 'park' your car in front of your house and a 'parkway' as a place that you 'drive' your car to get from destination to destination? Hmmm, really makes me wonder...
