THe easiest way to become popular... *drumroll*
meet people. Just go and say hi to everyone you see, and make small chat. Remember their names, and you'll be set for life.

I haven't visited here in such a long time...
I, myself, am a nerd. There is a difference between nerds and geeks. Geeks are smart at a single subject only, where as nerds are good all around. But when I am called geek, i get too lazy to refute that person...
In my school, there is definite war between the populars and the nerds/geeks. Popular people protest nerdy clubs and teams like Math Team, Science Olympiad, and Scholastic Bowl. They usually try to put down our reputations (which is low as it can get) and try to be better with it...
I don't get this subject.. Most population in SEN is a geek or a nerd. We will only here one side of teh issue, and therefore isn't a discussion.

I don't see why a geek can't be popular. I am.

QUOTE(Doodan @ Jul 31 2006, 02:43 AM)
So I'm saying don't worry about it. During the teen years, the pyhsically stronger people tend to get what they want more and use their strengths to force submission on others (due to relaxed laws and poorer control of primal urges). But when you reach adulthood, if you've remained steadfast on the "path of intelligence" you and others like you will emerge as the dominant ones.
I don't agree with you there completely, I am a teen now, sixteen years, I am in my second year of three in senior high, and the one who is dominating there is ALWAYS, then I really mean always is the one who says the most things, the one who questions the most, the rebelish kinda person gets the most attention, I can clearly see that in my class. We're like 30 people, about 20 girls and 10 boys, we're basically divided in four groups, but that doesn't hinder who's getting the most attention. It's always the one who's going to question things and starting an argumentation of things and win that argumentation. Maybe that's a way to show strenght, but it's not physical strenght, I fail to see the big macho guy who use his fists to win every argumentation against the little, semi-weak person who likes to talk through the situations.

oh no.. you mean popular guys really must hate you.
True geeks don't waste their time with friends. That is why they don't have friends. Then I guess Moose is pretty much popular around geeks!

Think about it..... if I was only geek, SEN v5 would be done. If I was only popular, I wouldn't be here.

*ahem* Just because you're a geek doesn't mean you don't have friends. Look at band geeks. See how they hang out with each other? That spells friendship to me. Computer geeks arn't always void of friends either. Maybe you're getting nerds and geeks mixed up. Not saying nerds don't have friends to. I suggest you take a good look at the Wikipedia page for both of them ; \.

I don't mean to offend you, but wikipedia is such a NOOB way to search for reference. Ya sure, there are band geeks and computer geeks who are "friends" with each other. Yet, you forget that everyone in the end is against each other wtih inevitable rivalry.
You want proofs? look at math team competitions and robotics competitions. They are hardly "friends" they are more like some freaks trying to kill each other.
You know what, true geeks spend their time making sc maps and mods. Tru geeks really understand the concept of sc in terms of astronomy and physics. Thats who the true geeks are. You can find them all over the globes in the research facilities, school clubs, and all over this site.
by the way, I consider myself a geek as well.

Basically this is like any major discussion. There are reasons to stick with both sides. Theoretically, geeks have the advantage of representing their unique individual personality. Popular students are the cult of friends who don't like outsiders and all try to act similar. There are benefits of playing both sides of the ball game.
