Obviously if a person can't make a map that's better than most maps out there right now, then he/she would probably avoid entering...

I encourage you people to make a map for this contest so you can give idoL more work. Now making a map for THAT is worth it.

A quick Question: Can we protect our maps or do you need an unprotected version?

Unprotected versions are required. We will not play them publicly, so theres no threat of them being stolen.

The map that we create, does it have to be tested publicly in order to be qualified? Say I don't want people to see it, but I want to be in this contest, what would I do?

You do not have to publicly release it. If it's for the contest, you enter it. The map will not go public.

It will only be played with the judges. If your map needs REQUIRES more than 3 people, we may ask someone who isn't participating to play, and protect your map before we play with them (and instruct them not to give it out).

This is El-Patron ((Known by about a million other names on starcraft, this one of my latest names)) anyways I was wondering for the contest, can we use SCMDraft, SCXE, & StarForge fdor making the maps??? I really like to make a decent map and i dont like StarCraft-BroodWar version of map making...at all.

No you can't. Unless it's part of ur campaign series

Nope, you can't. Idol stated in other topics that you can submit maps which carry on as a series, but you cannot submit 2 different maps, only 1.

I'll update the map night rules later.

Ok clarification:

The version of your map submitted to this contest should be unprotected for us, to look at triggering and such.

If you want to publicly release/public beta test or whatever then protect that version.

Also, thanks to everyone who is helping others with the rules and such, I was quite busy this week. We have 82 registerd participants so far.

If i give out a public release of my map for testing, while giving you a copy of the beta in the first place, and then release it Unprotected onto Battle.Net and make further updates will it still be considered? Since it is mine, even if someone makes edits of my map online.

I don't protect my maps, ever. Period.

Well I don't care what you do with your map frankly, we judge what you give us and that's that.

We don't own your map, it's yours to do whatever with, but the version you give us is the one we judge, no take backs.

Why exactly, do we have to give our maps to you unprotected? Given your history idoL, like what you did to Oo. and then (MC) I don't think that I want to give you anything of mine that you could exploit.

This thread isn't for you to at, PM me if you got a problem, anyway to awnser your question, you don't HAVE to submit the map unprotected, all in all it is your map we prefer it unprotected so we can look at the trigger work and judge you better.

If you don't like it/have no input, then don't parcipate.

I'm going to stress unprotected map submittions so we can look at the actual map. Theres a reason for this as well, to find cheaters.
