Well, I have heard some amazing original music purely created from samples before.

As for the rivalry between this map and Rush's...You can't really compare them to each other (sound-wise anyway), since Tux is obviously not interested in investing towards the sound aspects of his map, while you (refering to WoodenFire) are. Because of this, I don't think anything should be said about his trailer music and such.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by WoodenFire on 2006-05-01 at 06:57:41
Was it really laced with 'Rush sucks?'
let me go back and read it to see if I really did do that...

...brb

oh my! Why yes... I COMPARED it to how good the music will be.

Except, his music is copied/pasted from Lotr?(Source:i forget) and mine is original?

So what...

get back on topic! I think i just ticked-of Dr.Shotgun!?!?

and yes, hes working on music for PotC 2 soundtrack... how is that hard to believe? -.-

Major update probably tonight because Lethal is deciding to take a more active roll in the thread... Lol (it won't last tongue.gif )

Hey Marandule, why don't you actually read the front page before you post that you're ''looking forward'' to a map. I'm not sure if you're illiterate or blind, but here it is again.

Will there be any kind of a Save System in this map? It would probably be difficult, but I'm just wondering.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by WoodenFire on 2006-05-02 at 08:47:09
This is not a MMORPG simulation and this is not an Open RPG. This is a storyline driven game like Final Fantasy... There will be absolutely no save system. It would be almost impossable to save #/What you have Equiped, Saved in Bank, and holding in your inventory with 120 differnt items (remind yourself that you could have X number of each item (with caring about max weight + bank (unlimited for a price))...

Yep, no save system on this baby. Save systems have a major flaw : Giving people passwords at level 99 with best items in game = no challenge and ruins game for others.

sounds great. damn, i only don't like the zergling-heroe, but all in all, it should be fantastic!

a question: what is a save system ?

I'm just posting this to briefly go over how the battle system will work...

This is a real-time system, it is not turn based. First off, every unit around you will have a location, and a burrowed unit. Each unit will not physically be attacked, but the burrowed unit under them will be attacked. If a unit gets attacked, the triggers tell who attacked you, and then search engines will calculate who much damage is inflicted, how much armor has absorbed the attack, if it's a critical strike, if the enemy missed, what the units resistances/weaknesses are, which tell which weapons/armor/items you are wielding, and any spells that are in effect. It will then determine how much damage is inflicted.

This system is for all the units that are in the battle.

The search engines will do all of this unseen. All you will see it the units on the playing field.

Another note, the HP will be determined by the units bars (the # of bars shown on a unit when selected). The bars will be only guidelines to the units HP (making it more life-like). I may add something that will tell you your exact HP amount if selected in the shuttle system.

The enemies will randomly spawn around you, and will have AI's.

This whole battle system is nearly completed and is very complex (1000+ triggers)
and it was worth it.

Sure was a Brief review of the system... Lol

A little cocky I gues, but I will just go with the flow I guess...

Woot yea! :l

Okie dokie, so I got 80% warn in 1 night when I asleep so thats kinda lame.

If I accidentally say something that a 'Joke-Of-An-Admin" thinks is a flame, I will probably get banned from SEN and thus I won't be able to update this consistantly.

I am not saying this will happen, but I am just leaving this down for future references if i am MIA for a week or so...

Woodenfire, I'll msot likely be on StarCraft MUCH more often now. So I'll be able to test mroe thnigs out, and see what's happened in my several month absence from viewing the Dyne.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by WoodenFire on 2006-05-02 at 22:45:45
Yea, lethal is going to post a much more detailed outline of the triggering systems soon and with that I will be getting Crescent Dyne RPG terrain up to around 90% complete. We are in our last 2-month stride. It will be a tough run to the finish from here.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Dako on 2006-05-02 at 22:47:13
How long did it take you to create a Battle System like that? I'll have to experiment with a system similar, and I might do something like that with Fable. It must've been difficult to create the random critical, armor, exact damage, etc for the system.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by WoodenFire on 2006-05-03 at 06:23:09
Well the battle system has taken almost three weeks of triggering and before that it took about a week to brainstorm the systems required to do the attack detection and individuality aspects of enemy units. The system puts a massive strain on the max trigger threshhold but is only done for instant mathematical calculations. The system has to go through each stem of damage reductions, increases, and cycles until each different aspect has been calculated to deal the correct damage.

It was collaboratively created with brainstorms with me, Lethal, Rantent, Kenoli, and a few others who have shared their insight on the systems details.

Only a small part of the whole which is Crescent Dyne.

WoodenFire, what's a save system ? blink.gif

You can then just save your character and join a different game and load all your stats with different people.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by JaFF on 2006-05-03 at 14:24:22
wow... a noobish question, but how is it done ? blink.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Raindodger on 2006-05-03 at 14:50:41
Umm usually people do it by giving the player a certain combination of numbers and/or letters that corrospond to the level/exp/money that the person has.

I like when offical testers help respond to questions.

My friend BlackWinter will shortly load up two small demo songs which our Musical Composer sent. They are the lowest quality ones we could get before changing them to WAVs.

He said they were the worst demo songs he has ever sent and that we shouldn't use them in Crescent Dyne because of that fact... Lol.
