Yea... I am going to make a major update sometime this week for Items/Monsters/Storyline. We are making huge progress on the triggering systems every day now.

Lethal has expressed concerns about the release date. I am sure we can meet the deadline if we work in haste but we arn't sure that what will be released in June will be the full version of Crescent Dyne RPG and perhaps once systems are done, storyline and plot-build will go fast... but there is no garentees at this point.

The battle system is finished, and things will hopefully get rolling. Wooden and I came up with some crazy ideas that would be time consuming, but greatly increase the game. Just keeping you posted.

Ocean Of Fire was asked to help me reorganized the Beastiary. So don't mind him hes just posting his updates.

>>Looking good Ocean, We still have more then 25 enemys in that normal ground list, send me a list of units that you think should be moved to specials. We only need to move a few...

k then soz i didnt know.

I'm seeing a problem with your selection of creatures in the world and your selection of heroes...Two of your heroes can only attack ground, yet you have quite a few flying creatures. Even with virtual hps, it seems kind of weird for a zergling to be attacking a mutalisk doesn't it? I guess I'll just assume you thought of this and things will work out ok.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by WoodenFire on 2006-05-10 at 18:05:59
Its funny you should post that.

In addition to Boat/Airship battles that DO take place air vs air.

We just thought of a way to make it VERY realistic of how the ground attackers can appear of attacking the dragon with vHP and an effect...

Very crazy timing. Just talking to someone about it on Starcraft like 15minutes ago. Ha!

And by the way, you won't be fighting air units that often, alot of them are just for diversity and some air battles...

You will mostly be up against ground units...

One question, how will the lockpick work?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by WoodenFire on 2006-05-10 at 18:52:09
Locked tresure chests will require a Key or Lockpick (Works each time but takes a certain amount of time to unlock which would be a couple of seconds of figitting)

So you have Tresure Chests with Gold or Items, and then you have Locked Tresure Chests with Gold or Items (More gold/ Better item)

There will also be special keys for quests so that is not included in this. If you come across a locked chest, when you press the Action button, you will automatically use keys first and lockpick last and if you don't have either, a message will be displayed to your hero. You can also trade your lockpick or keys.

Lockpick can be earned earlier in the game or easier later in the game you can get it. You can also buy it near end-game for a good amount of cash. Keys are realtively cheap if you buy just a few...

Addition:
Lockpick does have durabillity and can just as easily as your running out of keys, your lockpick can require repair if it breaks.

I don't see any progress on this, just more ideas being pumped out. Don't forget our 500 mineral bet Wooden. June 30 is your last day! tongue.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by WoodenFire on 2006-05-10 at 19:20:37
How do you not see any progress? We are fixing up a flaw in Mebs calculations system because it slows down with high-number mathematics (example would be high-damage weapons later in the game) so Lethal is spending today fixing that problem.

Its really funny how you say we are just pumping out ideas when everything except for the storylins has already been layed out and accepted by Lethal_Illusion. We are moving onto the Slot system which will handle the text recall along with trade/banking/ect... the Inventory system will be a long process of just imputing all of the stats for each item because you can scroll up/down and see the Number of potions, or Damage/Critical Hit Chance of weapons... It also will show you every other stat that goes with each item in a very easy-to-operate system. You don't even need to look at the stats because we got them posted on this website...

Mebs (Multi-Engined Battle System)
Slot System (Text Inventory Automatic Organization System)
Commands System (Action/Trade/Item Usage/Inventory/Help)

All of these systems have already been started and Mebs is approaching completion. All of the trigger layouts have already been successfully thought of...

All people like you, DLK, have to do, is sit back and watch the orignial thread post grow.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Tuxedo Templar on 2006-05-10 at 23:15:56
Man you're using those kinds of triggers? You're in for it now lol.

But really, here's some advice. Using complex trigger systems might hold some novelty value for a while (mainly only to other mappers though), but realize whether your inventory is a bunch of units in a dropship or an elaborate virtual data construct out of counters, the player likely couldn't be any less concerned: They just want their items. Don't spend too much time on things that only offer a small, linear amount of extra value in flexibility/power that the player will likely never notice... unless you have no other choice! Chances are, you can redo your design and achieve the same effect at less time and energy cost easier than ending up doing it the hard way.

If you really do need a large inventory system setup like that though (dropships can only hold so many units, for instance), then hey more power to you. If you can get by with less (unless you feel up to a major challenge), then you probably should. Players will usually appreciate more simplicity, anyway.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by WoodenFire on 2006-05-11 at 06:58:05
Dropship for commands, not holding the items at which you carry.

The system will be very easy to use... you just press Invenotyr (lists all items) then you go Up/Down to select w/e you want. And then you can Equip the item you want to equip (with *automatic comparison of basic stats (defense/dmg) at the top of the minimap)

The battle system is also very simple to use...

You don't cast spells... you just communicate about the storyline, use potions and basic items, and magic find... Lol

The commands system should end up being extremely easy to use even for the dumbest of b.net nubs.
