I detect a little tension around here. You really should learn to play nice with eachother. =p

I was not saying your poem was bad. I was saying certain stanzas did not flow or rhyme. While others, worked very well together. If you are unable to take even the slightest criticsm, how are you going to be able to withold a job in the real world? Not everyone starts off as a Manager, or anything of that sort.
I think that's a bad comparison you're making. People I know tend to act completely different online than they do in real life. Anonymity does strange things to people.

I have tried recruiting Storyline writers for the past month and no one said they could create the poems I had already posted with their writing skills... I am not a writer and I don't intend to become a writer. If you are interested in being recruited for the job of editing my CDrpg storyline, your welcome to ask.

When someone bashes your work, how can you not simply respond to them? How is it that when someone replys to accusations automatically means that I can't take criticism?

Well, basing the way people is the wy respond to your response. After seeing the way you ripped people apart in the terrain forum when you first joined, people had a general idea of who you were. So, they formed an opinion about you and automatically feel the need to complain.

The best way to respond to criticsm or anything of that sort. Even if it is not constructive, is to respond nicely.

IE:
"YOUR MAP SUCKS!!1!!!"

Response:
"I am sorry you feel that way, perhaps when you play it your mind will be changed."

In saying that, not only did you make them look like a fool, you flamed them by being nice. Now, how can others respond to that response by being mean?

"Well... Umm... I WON't PLAY IT!"

Response:
"Sorry to hear that, you'll be missing out."

Just keep your cool when responding. Because, I find it funnier when someone responds to criticsm nicely. Because that raises my respect for them, and it also makes me want to see that person succeed.

Yes, this was a lonf winded response... But, all of it is beneficial. And you can regard as however you want. Just remember, to falme back NICELY! It gets you farther, and makes the other person look an idiot. wink.gif smile.gif

Hey ares, i dont really value the opinions/words of people with -2 minerals...
-wooden is right next to me, and he says, "i have 900 replys to this thread, i think i have a little more experiance than you with replying to accusations... I will not value your reply to responding in the least, due to the realisticly hostile enviornment that SEN is in actuality. -.-"

GJ wasting your post recogmending something you knew I would disgard as irrelivent to the thread.

Who really talks like that? Put yourself in woodens place, wooden has spend hundreds of hours working on this map. I would be mad if people were saying bad things about something i had worked on for a long period of time. And IMO, the amount of ignorance i've seen on SeN lately has been making me quite short tempered with people.

Maybe you ought to respect him for putting so much time and work into making the map? If you have a problem with Wooden why not tell him in a PM? Instead of bringing it into his thread and starting all this arguing? IMO: I lose respect for people who start aguments in people threats, cause all it does is spark a bunch of fighting. Since you supposedly want everything 'friendly' why didn't you PM your complaints to wooden when he responded to your critisism (His response wasn't even a flame :l ) instead of calling him conceded and such. You know whats even FUNNIER, you say flame nicely yet YOU flamed him non-nicely a few posts ago. It's people like you who make me short tempered pinch.gif

Oh yeah, I'm sorry for offering my criticism. It was obviously wrong of me to try to make this project a bit better, to improve it a little past its already astounding level. This isn't about respect. I'll be honest. I don't really care about WoodenFire one bit as a mapper. He is an awesome map maker, I admit that. But that means absolutely nothing to me. This is about your (not WoodenFire, but SEN in general) inability to accept criticism because you view it as an attack on your pride. Well you know what? Damn it, I'll offer my criticism. You don't have to agree with it. Hell, you don't even have to listen to it (though that's a bit foolish). However, I think making a thread like this simply for the point of praise is a little selfish of you all. After all, there is the recommend and review forum right here on SEN. Now, can we get back to the actual topic on hand?

Wooden, I would be happy to write the dialogue for you, if you'd be willing to allow me to work for this map. PM me if you're interested.

Just because someone puts hours into something, does not mean it will be good...
I could put 1,000 hours into a drawing. It doesn't change the fact that I am horrible artist when it comes to pencils, or using my hands in that kind of way.

I would accept the people's criticism, and I would try and improve on what they said. Besides, it isn't like I have said Wooden's map was bad. Nor did I say the poem sucked.

You speak of ignorance, yet you cannot read, nor justify my posts correctly.

Tell me, when did I say I did not respect him. I said I lost respect for him because of who he is. I still have incredible respect for what he has accomplished. Nobody on SC has done this much for one map. Although, I would rather someone a little nicer have done it. But, that isn't the case. And maybe, that is what it takes to release a marvelous map. I guess, ego is something you need to remain determined. Maybe I overlooked that... And no, this is not a flame. It is an evaluation to determine how people can complete these kinds of projects.

[Theory]
In order to complete the map, you said it will be the best map. So, you feel determined to prove that to people as well as yourself. Nothing wrong with that, because I will not be surprised if your map happens to revolutionize the SC world. If so, more props to you. The game needs it...

Acctually putting time into something really pays off well. Just like Albert Einstein, he was thinking his entire life to come up with E=MC^2. That's putting time into it. Surely, you have to be smart as well as putting time into something. That's how you get fame like myself. tongue.gif

Well, all judgement will come down when the map is finished. If it's good, then I guess there's no reason to doubt WoodenFire's (or rather, his team's) ability as (a) mapmaker(s). If it doesn't reach the level that it's been hyped to, or doesn't come close to expectations, then we can laugh. And as a response to:

QUOTE
Felagund & Ares, you're both people who are simply envious of the overwhelming popularity and positive response to this map.

~Blacker9Winter

I'm sorry, but I just couldn't help but counter this statement. At least they're not jumping onto the bandwagon of simply looking at the features and going, "That's genius!" Of course, I may be mistaken and you may've BETA tested this, or something that would give you the right to actually properly judgement the map. In that case, then go ahead and disregard this paragraph.

And onto more constructive topics, would you happen to have any screenshots of the battle system in action? I'm quite curious concerning the systematics of it, and how you incorperated the virtual HP system with such variables. It seems rather interesting.

The testers are NOT BETA. THere is not Beta version. The map is not in completion stages until around June 25-30th. As I hope...

I will have a few people taking screenshots and making graphics for the RPG as the time progresses...

Syphon and that TEC guy are the two I had in mind for graphics. Syphon is the current creator of my CD graphic at the bottom of my posts... Although Crescent is spelled wrong Lol...

Im not that mean of a guy if you kno me on Starcraft... which I erge everyone to actually get on instead of consistantly just posting on SEN without even active invovlment playing Starcraft at all... Lol. SEN makes people like me crazy like what Shady said before, Ignorance on SEN makes some days untolerable to handle the idiots that make posts.

Criticism is good almost in any form. Flaming is pretty crapty, but even flames can end up causing something good to happen. The only time people every concieve criticism as bad, is when the criticism causes the map maker to stop making the map. But this is an unfair assessment, because really, they're quitting because their map sucked or was impossible to make. The criticism just happened to reveal that. There is no such thing as criticism that is not constructive. I've been giving Lethal crap about this map for a few days, I think he tried to make some improvements because of it. Time to give him more crap.

The real reason everyone flames people on this reason because of their opinion. They think that their opinion is right.... but u gotta compromise with em... u cant just take in all of the ideas cause some might ruin the process.... anyway nice job on the map wooden.. i think you should post screenshots of the meba system too... im seriously curious about how it works... tongue.gif Great terrain.. really eager to play this tongue.gif

I can understand tha you get annoyed with ignorant people. But, Imo, it is easier to rip someone's head off on B.net, not the other way around. blink.gif

But, I have seen how you are on B.net, and if only you would post the same way here as you do there.

Then, I would be quite please with you, and everything you have done. biggrin.gif

But, you have to take what people say with a grain of salt. Not only that, life is easier when you are humble. Take (U)Bolt_Head or Mp)3. They are very nice people, on and off SeN/B.net.
