Where did he say that?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Felagund on 2005-09-03 at 01:01:20
It's quite alright. I did say that. But my peers have forced me to allow Valug in. No such luck for the other two though.

"No map begun prior to July 16, 2005 shall be accepted." You see, that annoys me, since it doesn't make sense. If anything, you're just going to rush people into making crappy maps by giving them a short period of time to make a "good" map. Stress doesn't help creativity at all. But whatever. I wasn't going to participate anyways.

With one month you could have made Yoshi's Matrix, if you worked hard enough.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by LegacyWeapon on 2005-09-03 at 11:15:55
How are you going to know if they started it after that date anyhow?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Vibrator on 2005-09-03 at 11:16:02
If we allowed any map to be entered it would just flood us with more crappy maps, and it would take a lot longer to judge them all.

So its 7500 plus 5000 pot? i.e. 12500 pot? yahoo.gif

When is the deadline?

i was wondering the same thing =/

I guess it was a rather silly rule. I'll abolish it if you guys wish.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by n2o-SiMpSoNs on 2005-09-04 at 12:29:23
yes please abolish it so i can enter a map that i started a while ago and worked on it off and on and i still have to finish it... so yeah if u abolish the rule i will finish the map and enter it biggrin.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Felagund on 2005-09-04 at 12:39:27
It does seem kind of silly. Why would I want to keep your hard work out of the tournament?

*Edit* Compromise. I moved the starting date to July 1, 2005.

Game Mechanics: 30 Possible Points
This category covers everything that makes the game work. From triggering to battle systems to leveling up methods, this covers everything that is running behind the scenes to make the map function properly.

Sequencing: 25 Possible Points
Does your map flow from one area to another? I sure hope that all teams are balanced, for this category measures exactly how well the map progresses. Everything that modifies gameplay in any non-static (changing) manner can be found here.

Environment: 25 Possible Points
Terrain artists rejoice! We want to see your gosu skills, but be forewarned: if you decide to do extended terrain it had better be done well. A normal (isometrical) terrain job that creates an aura better than your massive cliffs will score higher. Environment also includes specials effects and anything that adds to the aura (feel) of a map.

Concepts and Creativity: 20 Possible Points
Don't allow the title to fool you. We care neither for nor against new storylines or triggers. We just don't want you to copy an old map and fail to improve upon it. And yes, anyone caught submitting a piece of work that's not their own will be disqualified and given a swift kick in the buttocks. The work must be completely your own. I can't emphasize that enough. No modifications!

The date rule was in place so that people woudln't jsut submit maps that they finished 2 years ago...

And again your making decisions without consetnt
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Felagund on 2005-09-04 at 18:34:10
Well, it's common sense there Temp. There's no possible way to verify map dates. Besides, if Tux and Heim and the others join in, people will have to make good maps. You know this.

*Edit* I compromised. July 1, 2005 is the new starting date. That gives a bit more time. That's the last rule change that's going to happen. I promise. tongue.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Vibrator on 2005-09-04 at 20:11:37
Lol, still a month and a bit. I doubt anymore rules wont change tongue.gif

And I'm pretty sure we will be able to tell apart a map that took 3 months and a map that took 6.

what if a map took me about a month to make but it was in different time periods like i work on it for a week then not work on it for 3 months and then pick it up again ect...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Vibrator on 2005-09-04 at 21:23:36
Then thats your fault for not working on it more tongue.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by n2o-SiMpSoNs on 2005-09-05 at 10:23:33
but its not like your going to know when someone started a map =/
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Vibrator on 2005-09-05 at 13:13:46
Well were gonna have to thake their word on it. It would be easy to see if the map took a long time to make as well.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Felagund on 2005-09-05 at 17:40:37
Ummm, I'll come out and say that we really have no way of verifying a map's age, instead of coming up with reasons that sound like lies like Temp.
