all you guys do is quote other people and say how stupid they are...  shouldnt we have a more orginized argument?

There's no point when

A. most of the time the idiot who is being quoted has no idea what he is talking about

B. is too stupid to realize when he is wrong

C. the person quoting is too lazy to repeat the argument when the person being quoted is A and B, however as D below states the argument will have to be restated anyway

D. the person being quoted, if they want to, will reply and ask for an explanation

E. the process of getting in that "lol you're argument is stupid" before having to explain why it is stupid is more fun than just explaining tongue.gif

Oh and let's keep this from turning into another god thread.

I think God will let all the non-believers go and smite all of the ones who believe the bible because they actually believed in such fairy tails, and he doesn't want stupid people roaming earth.

But it is the non-believers that don't believe in God. Why would God let them do as they wish, that they automatically become the agents of God just because they don't believe in one?

Absolutely. We CERTAINLY don't need any more of those.

So do most of us. Does that automatically make us all God?

If people knew what they were talkng about, then we wouldn't need anything like that.

Wow, what a revelation. But since the newbs who don't know what they are talking about will probably skip over your arguement and assume they are right when they are wrong... they won't listen to you. They can't read properly either.

As for the subheader for this topic "Ultimate truth or ultimate crap" has been answered, (it is both, depending on what you are reading, and how wrongly you interpret it), I'd consider the matter closed.

I'm not God, I'm the Messiah. And my vision wasn't JUST about 2 lesbians chicks, it had other things in it in which I must not tell you. For that I am testing your faith. God has told me to make it seem like I was lieing to truly test the faithful for only they are allowed into our paradise. Your christian god is false, my God is true. My proof lies with this simple logic:

"I am right because I see myself as being right."

Clarification: The Supreme Courge has the power to determine the validity of the something that is to be considered "constitutional". It's not point of view. (Sorry)

Cheeze, I'm very disappointed in that response. He obviously means anyone can interpret the consitution however they want, doesnt mean anything, but they still can do it.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by CheeZe on 2005-11-04 at 07:36:32
Well I'm showing how it's not like the bible. There is only one official way to interpret the constitution, where as, the bible is interpreted through many different groups. All of them are "official" so long as you believe in them.

I can have my own PoV how the constition should be interpreted, also I can have my own PoV how the Bible should be interpreted.

Just a small question I have for anybody that can answer it...

Back in the day, in public schools... were there religion classes?
If so, did they all learn christianity, or was it depending on the area?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by MillenniumArmy on 2005-11-04 at 16:50:46
In most supreme court cases, the vote was rarely ever 9-0. Only some of those like Brown vs Board of Education and Gideon vs Wainwright did those votes turn out to be unanimous. Most of the time, the supreme court justices have different ways of interpreting the constitution, but to make things much easier, the majority's interpretation would be declared as the official way of the constitution. The only difference between Interpretation of the Bible and Interpretation of the Constitution is that the Constitution official way of interpreting the constitution is the majority's way.

Although the Constitution has an "official" way of interpreting the constitution, there are still lots of people out there who still have a different way of interpreting the constitution. If all 9 justices were democrats, the official way of interpreting the constitution would be very liberal. If they were all republicans, it would be very conservative.

Just my thought

I dont think there were really religious classes (only in private schools), but in the past, I do believe that the people would participate in religious activities in school (like school prayer, etc)

And they were all about christianity.

If it hasn't been proven WRONG, I'll always stick with Christianity. If it has been proven right, either sign of apocalypse, or someting's wrong.

Yes! I agree that you can have your own point of view. However, the constitution has one and only one official interpretation (through the judiciary branch) while the bible does not. That's the only difference I'm pointing out. smile.gif

"Back in the days", there were. Everything was focused around the bible during those times. Eventually, the subjects split and finally came the removal of religion in public school. Some properties were still kept so you're right on the prayer.

Finally, I'm arguing a point where just about 100% of the people will probably agree with me (after me explaining the position so it's not spam tongue.gif).

Same here.

I beleive that the bible was written by some guy that had no idea what he was talking about, and wanted something to beleive in, and to live for. Sadly, many people beleived him

I worship Jupiter (Planet, not the god), because without it life could never have existed, or would be very, very far behind where it is now.

Hiel Jupiter!

I'm not an Atheist, (A lack of Theist beliefs), a Nihilist, (You don't believe in anything), or a Humanist, (Concerned only with humans, their culture, their well being). I'd prefer to distance myself with alot of the "Atheists" on this board, seeing as they're, for one, mislabeling themselves, and secondly, I'm just not an Atheist. Here's an explaination of rationalism: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rationalism
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Loser_Musician on 2005-11-05 at 14:02:55
Most atheists are not mislabelling themselves. If you don't believe in a god, you're an atheist. That simple.

Don't distance yourself, we're almost the same; we both use logic and reasoning. Only major difference between us is that I've come to the conclusion that there is no God, where as you might not have came to a conclusion yet. Except for maybe the conclusion that it's impossible to come to a conclusion.
