Then again... is there a limit to too much assuptions? I mean, if I called someone something thats abstract... couldn't you potentially find some unseen way to get it to a point where its an insult and "flaming"? Where's the cut off on this kind of thing? Inferences are that powerful?

"Reddy, I think your comment on dtbk's 1337ness is incorrect because his blahblahblah..."

You can't tell from that usage. But if you look at other posts by the member, you can usually tell the intent. In that case it is most likely not an insult, as anyone on an insult path would not bother to use the word "incorrect", and would say somthing like:

"Reddy.. Your comment on dtbk's 1337s is so wrong.. you just have no clue."

So you're telling me to quit subtly flaming, yet even the Admin does it?

Is that not hypocricy?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DT_Battlekruser on 2006-01-17 at 02:49:46
No, I want you to either shut up about all the flame or stop subtly flaming people.

Doing both is proving yourself a complete hypocrite.

If you insist on subtly flaming people because "even admins do it", you are in no position to start whining about spam and flame.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2006-01-17 at 05:10:29
It's alright for an admin to subtly flame, yet I cannot?

That's rediculous.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Red2Blue on 2006-01-17 at 05:19:42
Setting someone in their place using force does not constitute as flame.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by CheeZe on 2006-01-17 at 07:59:06
Neither is calling someone by their color and adding a '-y' after it.

If he chooses to do that, then let him. It's not flame, but he will lose respect from other people.

Or we could let the moderators do their job.

I guess so... in most cases not. I guess its most fitting if there is backing for the accusation to lead it towards a negative thing.

Not really. Admins control SEN in all aspects; they can do anything on SEN.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2006-01-17 at 15:11:42
Just because they are admin, doesn't mean they are above the rules they set for the other members.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Red2Blue on 2006-01-17 at 15:11:48
True story... they do not necessarally need to ... but that doesn't mean they shouldn't follow the rules.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathawk on 2006-01-17 at 15:22:10
Technically Kellimus, they are above the rules. They can do whatever they want.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2006-01-17 at 15:25:05
Are they not supposed to be responsible and show members a positive attitude, and not subtly flame though? Because if they subtly flame, the younger, neive members would take it as meaning they can do it themselves.

Do you not understand that?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Merrell on 2006-01-17 at 15:33:10
Bah, I just think you need to stop thinking everywhere on staredit.net is Serious Discussion. Just relax, you don't need to focus on the Moderators jobs and the members. The stupidly-acting members are only hurting themselves.

Did you read my post? If you insist on subtly flaming people, stop complaining about flame.

Yes, it is. The words, from his usage, bring an implied derogatory meaning and incite other members to throw insults back.

So really, there's two kind of flame by what you say.

One comes from blatant flaming: straight up dissing someone.
And one comes from subtle flaming?: enticing someone to flame you?

You can be penalized for both if reason warrants it?

More or less yes. Both are prohibited, but subtle flaming will be let slide unless it causes more flaming.

Blatant flaming is the obvious "YOU SUCK STUPID NOOB!!!"

Subtle flaming would be like: "You're such an ignorant idiot, pay attention to what I post next time."

The latter is technically flame, but may be allowed to slide if it does not cause a flame war. However, if we have to go in and investigate a flame war, subtle flame is almost always at the root cause.

Getting away with subtle flame is how Kellimus has been here so long.

EDIT: ah, here's an excellent example of subtle flame:

QUOTE(Kellimus)
Oh get over yourself S.T.A.R.S-Chris.

If they were going to do that, they would have done it YEARS ago, you twit.

Kellimus, I understand your point. But they're allowed to do it, and you're not. Do I agree with it, no, but there isn't anything that I, or anybody else can do.

People who flame the obvious way are on the bottom of my list, subtle above that, those who are intelligent and don't are above all smile.gif.

Admins can do all they want. Accept it and move on.

I wouldn't say DT is above the rules, but the admins? That's silly. biggrin.gif

Kellimus, I have no problem with the "subtle flaming" as its been termed when its done in moderation... but you're doing it in a majority of your posts (outside this forum). I find it hard to believe that this won't provoke anyone or escalate any flaming.

I verbally warned Yoshi once for flaming, I really don't care who you are, I'll find a way.

For some reason that set a mood similar to when voyager was acting evil.
With admins, the best you can do is verbally warn them, so it won't work that well.

Anyway, except for Beer (who is scary), no one can stop admins from doing what they want, including flaming you, saying !@#$!@#$!@#$!@#(insert things there wink.gif ) to you for no reason and banning you, etc. Accept it, it's like that everywhere. Keep in mind that the admins aren't here to set an example; they're here to control SEN and rule over your life in ways you don't expect.

Back to discussion of number of moderators? I think I summed the few previous posts up.
