It doesn't really matter, because only IP can remove him with any sort of permanence.

And has anyone noticed that IP is NOT posting in this topic anymore? Complaining will do little at this point.

Doesn't mean I'm not reading it still. And if I'm reading it, it must mean something.

It'd be like the President secretly selling arms to terrorists.

HA! You say that like it doesn't happen.

Okay so let me get this straight, the opinions of other Admins and Staff members don't actually matter in this discussion? I don't think he's fit to Moderate simply because he can code well. As suggested earlier, giving him a Staff Position that specifically caters to what he's good at is a safe decision, but giving him Moderation power is a serious abuse of power in itself. Just because one can fix an error in code doesn't necessarily make him or her good at managing fights and preventing future brawls.

I can ramble off very similar responses that have already been given by other nay-sayers here, but there's no point. I just immensely disagree with this.

PM's arent supposed to be read out to the public...

and also, this arguement started before i was a moderator.... so, how can this possibly reflect on me being a moderator? its not my fault hes still angry that i blocked him. (well i assume so since he keeps bringing it up...)

so, can you all PLZ stop talking about it. it was a personal arguement that i stopped by blocking him. end of story.

Becoming a moderator does not wipe your slate clean, nor your warn log.

QUOTE(Pyro-Fire @ Jan 2 2007, 10:04 AM)
uh the dispute started before i became a moderator.

it was a member-to-member arguement, so i delt with it accordingly. like i would if i hadnt of become a moderator.
And my i ask, why the hell does everyone judge me on what i do in my own personal space? i mean, its my area to look at, not yours. dont you understand "privacy"?

We judge your personality and general tendencies by what you do in all situations. Welcome to the world of politics.

An arguement and mugging somebody is a tad different don't you think?
And actually, they could. I'm not sure which judge it is, he's on TV, "judge joe brown" or something like that. Used to be in gang violence etc, got a second chance and now is a judge with his own tv show.

Okay, is would someone who privately organizes Nazi rallies publicly make a good juror for a Jew on trial?

QUOTE(Pyro-Fire @ Jan 2 2007, 01:31 PM)
mind reading out all your pm's for us?
no?

well thats how i feel.

i blocked him for a reason.

that reason?

so i never have to speak to him again. he makes me uncomfortable to be around.

now leave me alone.

the flames are getting too harsh now, just lock this thread.

and i dont wanna hear no more crap that i do in my personal space.

whatever goes on in my personal space is between me and anyone who is involved in the situation. not the entire community.

PMs are not private, they are simply not forced to be public. It is the right of whoever you send a PM to to republish your words so long as they do not purposely omit or alter your words such that it constitutes slander. If whoever you most rudely treated via PMs wishes to repeat what you said to him, nothing is stopping him.

QUOTE(CheeZe @ Jan 2 2007, 02:05 PM)
If you don't want to deal with that then simply answer this question:

What you don't seem to understand, pyro-fire, is that your morality and good character is evaluated by all data about you that we can gather. Privacy extends only as far as you make it extend; we will not forcibly extract quotes from you that you will not release, but if you say anything, you can't retract that statement.

Like I said, welcome to the world of politics. Entrance as a party favor sets you back a few miles, and a really dirty ethics record goes the whole nine yards.

Im a bit reluctant to post since so many have, but I feel I should since Im a modder and hes wanting to become a moderator for the modding assistance forum.

Honestly I think if the modding assistance forum is to recieve a new moderator it should be one who regularly posts in that forum with useful/helpful posts. Yes I have seen pyro fire help out others in the forum, but not very often and it usually isnt very clear. Though I do give him credit for being so willing to help, he has gone out of his way a couple of times. And he hosted a mini mod contest which I give him much credit for!
But even with all those things I dont even think that forum really needs another moderator. Its a small forum with three moderators already.

My main thought is those that know the most of the topic of that forum and are mature and responsible should be in charge of those forums.

Okay, so he's qualified to be a Moderator of the Mod forum. So then why give him Moderation over the other 2 forums?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by JaFF on 2007-01-03 at 11:32:03
At first I was quite neutral to Pyro getting moderator power, but after reading this topic I understood that he's not mature enough.

About the PM's: The fact that you blocked him means that you:
 • Can't resolve problems between people
 • Can be influenced by others and/or by your own emotions
 • Don't have strong opinions and/or...
 • Can't admit your own mistakes (if he proved you wrong)
Blocking someone's PMs is like ignoring someone when he's talking to you - very rude.

Some people say that he can moderate the modding forum. I disagree. You can know a lot about modding, but don't fit character and/or maturity-wise.

continueing to PM me after i asked him to drop it - even more rude.

it's my choice to block someone, not everyone elses. if i want to block him, then i can. i have my reasons, so everyone stay out of my private space!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

seriously, freak off, its starting to get really sad how you judge me on what i do when no one is supposed to be looking (WHICH IS PRIVACY). its like you all LOVE to go through my trash! why dont u just get out! its MY property!

And thus proving that you don't actually have to be mature or know anything about conflict resolution to be a Moderator.

Hey, that looks like the beginning of a logical defense!
Though, whether or not he's rude isn't the matter here, it's whether or not you have the maturity to be a moderator.

QUOTE

As DTBK mentioned, it's not 'your private space', it's 'your space that isn't necesarily not private'. You're free to block him, yes, and there's nothing wrong with that, but until the statement I quoted above, all that anyone else has known is that you had some disagreement with someone and ended it in an immature way -- and even now, we've seen no reason to believe that you never did anything 'rude'.

QUOTE

Yep, it's 'really sad' that someone can demonstrate such a blatant disregard of exactly what he's being told rather than what will annoy him the most as you are.
We don't really care if you unblock him or not, what we care about is that you acted in, so far as we could tell, an immature way, and never gave us any reason to believe that it was the other person's fault.
Once you give us reason to believe that you're fit to be a moderator of UMS Assistance, Modding Assistance, and Misc. ( which are completely unrelated to being able to attack or defend websites ) , people will stop pestering you about it. The moment you can bother to explain that and how Hercanic was giving us a biased account of what happened between you and him, people will stop pestering you about that, too.
